2023 is upon us and another year of opportunities await us to take advantage. I'm going to take some big chances and make changes, to better myself.

Here are mine, that I should have done a long time ago:

1. Healthier eating.

I'm 5'11/180lbs. I don't eat like a pig and I'm not overweight, but I have consumed MANY pizzas and burgers over the past 10 years, multiple times a week. I've also consumed too many sugars and I fear irreversible health complications, later in life. I want to feel better after I eat as well, rather than run down and tired, in need of a nap. I've already recently been cooking my own simple meals and experimenting, but I need to do it more.

2. LESS video games and related content.

I've been playing video games (habitually) since I was a little kid. I also watch/listen to content creators that just fill in dead space, rather than enrich my life. The objective is to reduce the amount I consume and engage, so that I'll free up time for more important things. I plan on building a new PC and getting a PSVR2, and I plan for those two things to be my last major gaming investments, at least for a few years.. I don't see much future for gaming left in me, so it feels like it's time to wane a little off the teat.

3. NO MORE PORN.

This is a big one, but it's also the easiest to change. I've been viewing porn since my teen years, but it's positive effects no longer exist for me. I have to view so many photos/videos/tabs just to get through sessions that takes more than 15 minutes. It's also reduced my ability to connect with others, including for sex. I used to have more meaningful connections 10 years ago, but porn has allowed me the easy and socially destructive path to pleasure. NO MORE. I want to engage a real person more frequently, again..

4. Get an advanced education/find new profession.

This will be the biggest and most difficult task, but it can be the best change, for me. I feel like I'm wasting my potential not pursuing deeper understanding of my interests, skills, and capabilities. I've never been a fan of going back to school, but the only excuse I've had is fear of challenging myself. I've also been working the same job for over 7 years and there's little to no more growth in my field, for me. It's time to see how much better I can do.

5. (Low priority) Build my body.

This isn't as important to me as the previous objectives, but I do want to change my physic. In the photo above I already look close to the photo on the right (but with minor belly fat), thanks to my job. I used to look like the photo on the left (7 years ago), until my current job and better eating. However, I want to build more muscles. Not to an unreasonable degree. Just enough to feel the difference and be more physically capable. The issue is going to a gym. I don't like performing around others, so will have to figure it out. I also want to do this because people who work in my field end up leaving, after they've done some major improvements to their bodies. If it builds that much confidence to move onto better things for them, then why not give it a try for myself. I'm long ready for something better.



Well those are my new year's resolution plans. What are yours?

1. lose weight. a lot of it. I think I'm gonna go for 10 pounds a month. i don't want to be some ripped macho man but at the same time i hate being overweight
2. learn how to code. software development is extremely lucrative and if i gain experience in that field before i turn 18 i could end up with a 6 figure salary later down the line. I have to build my future well.
3. learn video editing. I wanna become a video essayist (and professional unfunny meme creator) and video editing will help achieve that. Plus i need an actual talent
4. play more video games. this is likely the only one of those 4 i am going to do

oh shit that's a good idea too. video editing would be nice as a freelance job and i'd jump at the opportunity to work for some of my favorite youtube creators, plus i can help alot for my youtube career which i wanna build soon
I actually have video edited for making a video on my channel, but it was very barebones as i was really only using images and videos. special effects and better transitions is where the magic comes into play

Davinci resolve is completely free and offers great online training videos and free manuals . That’s what I’m using.

I used to use premiere pro, but after hearing about davinci I felt I was getting scammed, so I cancelled my subscription and went to davinci like you. The best part is that the interface is similar to premiere pro so I don't have to relearn a lot of stuff

I've already recently been cooking my own simple meals and experimenting, but I need to do it more.

Try Chinese food, real Chinese food not that takeout stuff. There's so many dishes that are vegetarian (almost) but they use oyster sauce (Does not actually taste like oysters at all) that give a meat like taste. These are some that I can cook, so I can confirm they are easy.

Since stupid covid, I've become insanely lazy and my alcohol intake has massively increased. I haven't really gained any weight, I have a small gut now and my muscle mass shrunk. I'm always sore from being in a sedentary state. I want to be more active in 2023.​
Learn a new skill:​
Again, since stupid covid, I haven't taken that time being home to learn something new and better myself. I want to learn a new skill. Since I love music and have a whole DJ setup, I want to learn how to scratch, at least in the basic form.​
Reading:​
I just need to read more books is all.​
PC Upgrade:​
I bought an Alienware in early 2021, during the hardware shortage. Spent a lot of money only to recently learn that I was f'ed in the A by Alienware. So I'm looking to take my current CPU and 3090 card, and transfer it to a new case, mobo, ram, psu and so on. Trying to do my research to make sure I can get the best peformance as I can.​
This is a small list off the top of my head. I'm sure there are more things I'd like to accomplish. I will bookmark this post and see how I do at the end of the year. With all that said, I had a pretty great 2022. Since moving into my new apt earlier this year, I've manage to hook it up to my liking. I've rode my bike all over NY with a good friend of mine and discovered new breweries and places. My music collection as grown immensely and my music taste has changed. I've played and completed several games that have been on my backlog.

Being a slob, you live at 50%, it's no way to live.

And I want to learn Spanish, perhaps German, and I really wanna start with Japanese, although that is gonna take some years to learn because it's so hard.

I have a job that I have been working towards, hoping to get that before the summer. And I need to get back to reading more.

And for christ's sake, I have to be disciplined with games, my mind is hardwired to seek games or the internet constantly, and it's absolutely crushing my free time. I need to spend more time outside, and I need to find some hobbies that involve physical activity. Maybe get back to jiu-jitsu or boxing or something.

A small list I think is perfect. Best not to overwhelm yourself, before seeing what you can actually accomplish. We just got to get our heads in gear to drive towards these goals.

If you were able to do it before, then I assume it will be easy street to get back into the swing of things. It's easy to let ourselves go, but the easy life tends to be the most boring. I'm looking forward to an exciting year and hope you do, too.

I will decide where I want to live for the next ten or so years. I have enough to buy a house but I want to explore other countries and cities before dropping a huge hunk of my cash on a residence. I'm also trying to swear less.

I solved that by living in a country that only has second language English speakers. Firstly if they do know the swears they don't know how "strong" they are meant in context and secondly why give them an unnecessary word to translate. Downside, I now swear in a second language... Tā mā de.

You really think you can cut on gaming by having a PS5, a PSVR2 and a gaming PC? Some of you guys posting here are setting yourself up for failure right from the start.

Let me help you to cut on your gaming time:
1. Don’t buy PSVR2
2. Don’t buy a gaming PC
3. Have a rule of max number of hours per week you can play and hold yourself accountable

One and done.

1. Resume running. I always slack in winter, can’t breathe effectively in cold air, leads to lots of coughing. Probably will happen late February or early March, once it warms up.

2. Get to grade-school level in ability to speak Korean. I can read it fine, and I can say extremely basic phrases, but I can’t hold a conversation.

3. Learn to play piano. Always wanted to play an instrument.

I don't think I can. I KNOW I can. Many years ago I decided to get rid of all my gaming related things, in an attempt to stop spending any time gaming. I went over 6 months without playing any games, but I made the mistake of not finding something else to do with my free time, got bored doing nothing productive for myself, then decided to pick gaming back up. That's why I'm cutting down on the gaming/related content. Not to completely stop, but have more time for the other plans.

I've already proven twice to myself that I can go over a month without masturbation, only to get back into the habit for no other reason than "Why not? It feels good." (which is connected to the porn addiction). But as stated in the OP this will be the easiest thing for me to stop. With no more porn, I will have less reason to masturbate and more incentive to connect with real people.

I'm not saying it's a fool proof plan, but I literally have no reason NOT to do these things and I know I have will power to do most of them.

As they say "Nothing worth fighting for is easily won". But it will become easier the more it becomes to the normal.

This year I'm going to

1. Drink more booze and smoke more weed. I've been slacking off for a while now. It's time to up my game.

2. Eat junk food. I never eat that shit. It's disgusting, but this year I'm gonna put some effort in.

3 Watch more TV. I'm lucky if I have the time to watch any TV. I need to change that.

4. Stop exercising. I'm sick of all that running and hill walking shit. If you exercise you live longer they say. So what? Live longer to do what. Eat broccoli for 35 years? Fuck that. I'll trade the salad munching for a good time and a massive heart attack thank you.

5. Stand up to my wife abuser and demand she start treating me like a human being with needs and feelings, instead of her personal sex toy. The degradation must end!

6. Start a pegging survivors support group.

Once you get into the flow of things, you can really change yourself. And when you look back, it doesn't seem long at all but you've changed so much.

While you slog it out though, it feels like an eternity of little to no change. You 'just' need to push through with that feeling of accomplishment and immense satisfaction that awaits you at the end. Eventually.

And with that said; my resolution is to masterbate less, but not stop. Wish me luck.

In December alone I spent £20,000. This house project is probably going to completely clean my bank account to the last dime.

This is going to be a long and painful here. I've neglected working out for such a long time so it's time to get back on the gym.

For new year resolutions I decided to completely give up alcohol. Non alcoholic wine tastes like shit, but surprisingly champagne and beer is pretty much the same thing - I bought a pack of 25cl beer bottles, 15kcal each, 0g sugars, wtf is this magic?

So going for 6 days now and when I have the urge I just drink non alcoholic beer - easiest detox ever.

That's a big goal. No doubt requires great effort to achieve, but no greater goals to achieve than our dreams. Keep at it, just don't over exert yourself. Want to make sure you able to get there. ;^)
