Man the Kings really look unbeatable. I think the Rangers will give them a series, but I dont think the other teams in the east will. Henrik versus Quick would be such an intense series. The NHL must be celebrating like crazy, the 2 teams in the most financial trouble are leading their 2nd round series, and it looks like LA versus NY fin the SCF. This is working out like it was the NBA.
Painful to watch, but deja vus all over again, really. The Flyers coaching staff is getting absolutely schooled.
Folks are going to attack the individual Flyers defensemen, but that's not really the problem.
The Flyers' "system" all year long has involved gaining control of the puck down low and trying to make break out plays up the middle. Unlike teams like NJ, the Flyers do not make use of the boards much to clear the zone and the Flyers forwards do not cover the points (i.e make sure pucks fired around the boards get out). This is a beautiful idea, and I guess if you have Pronger, Timonen, Meszaros, Carle and Coburne playing huge minutes, you can do it. Unfortunately, we don't. We have Lilja. Bottom line: Larry Robinson has got the Flyers' defensive "system" absolutely booked and he is ripping it to shreds. If the Flyers continue to try to start their offense from behind their goal line, they are toast.
You can blame individual players like Carle and Lilja all you like, but you're missing the point. This has been a glaring problem all season long, and the Flyers coaching staff has done nothing to fix it. I've really come to admire Lilja this season: the guy is a step away from the glue factory and he's doing his best. You cannot expect him to do what the Flyers are asking him to do. Same with Carle.
FWIW: this is why our genius coach Peter Laviolette was fired in Carolina--he was incapable of adapting once teams had figured out his "system."
The Flyers are a very simple team: if they can move the puck out of their end effectively, they are unstoppable; if they get hemmed in at all, they fold like a cheap tent. The Flyers forwards are working hard trying to defend, but they are lost. The Flyer's hung in this game but were really never in it: right now the Devils own the Flyers D. The only question is whether the Flyers can quickly figure out a way to get the puck past the NJ forecheck and integrate this into some kind of offense.
Yotes have done all the party spoiling they're going to do.
I know you are just trolling but this doesnt even make sense. The Flyers could go to the SCF, which would be much further then they went last year, and lose to the Kings. If the Flyers did or did not improve has nothing at all to do with how far the Kings go.
Radulov will be unhappy to hear that.Yotes have done all the party spoiling they're going to do.
I'm actually NOT trolling. The goal is to win the Stanley Cup ASAP. If the Kings do that this year, then the trades made the Kings better, not the Flyers, as the players the Flyers sent the other way put the Kings over the top.

Whatever happens this year, the Flyers turned Jeff Carter into Couturier and Voracek and that was a massive upgrade long term. The fact Carter made his way to LA and is now along for the ride with a great playoff team doesn't change that.
The Richards trade is much more debatable because the Flyers sent him directly to the Kings and he is a much better player, especially in the postseason.
Guys guys shut the fuck up. Canada plays in 5 minutes.

yea, twice. kings won both but preds shat the bed in the 3rd in one and other was a 5-4 game where rinne got yankedDid the Preds play them after they got Carter? Not that regular season is much of a barometer, for example see Bryz v Devils.
you're doing it wrong. Kings in 5.So Preds in 5 then?
Seems like it.sounds like Radulov won't be playing tonight either
Bob McKenzie ‏ @TSNBobMcKenzie
No Radulov or A Kostitsyn for NSH tonight.

Trotz said punishment for Radulov and AKostitsyn is over. Just didn't want to change a winning lineup. Said it's a hockey decision. #phxnas
Really, we could pull this one out just by getting pucks to the net and getting some bounces,
So there not being punished but they are being benched, lol. I guess they just didnt want to deal with the NHLPA over a multigame suspension?
You always go with the winning lineup until they lose.
With those two in their lineup their record is 0-2 and without 1-0.

Prophetic?
Still no posts from Blues "fans". :lol

I thought this post on CSN Philly made a lot of sense., although the takeaway is that for the Flyers to win the series they need Pronger and Mezaros to come back fully healthy on Sunday.
It has been hurting too much to look in these threads as a Blues fan. We've completely fallen apart. It feels like all of our momentum vanished when Pietrangelo got hurt and that short handed goal was scored against us.
I hope we can get at least one win, but if all else fails we always have the Cardinals.
Fuck that. I want a Blues Cup win just once before I die. I'd like to think we could make it go to game 5 or 6, but realistically we're probably getting swept.
