Nintendo Sues Emulator Gamer Who Streamed Pirated Games Before Release

Just as mentioned in a previous thread about Nintendo going against YouTubers, according to TorrentFreak Nintendo sued EveryGameGuru who streamed unreleased games via multiple sites.

Filed at a federal court in Colorado on Wednesday, Nintendo's complaint targets enthusiastic video gamer and Colorado resident, Jesse Keighin. According to Nintendo, Keighin streams gameplay on platforms including YouTube, Discord, Twitch, TikTok, Trovo, Kick, Vaughn, Dlive, Picarto, Nimo, Facebook, and Loco, under the alias EveryGameGuru.

When asked to stop doing so, he apparently boasted his multiple disposable accounts.

On October 24, after unnamed platforms had shut down Keighin's streams in response to Nintendo complaints, the gamer reportedly sent the company a letter in which he claimed to have "a thousand burner channels" to stream from and "can do this all day."

Zero sympathy from me.

I'm a big fan of emulation and preservation but honestly screw people like this guy. Being so bold and brazen about playing pre-release titles is why we lost Yuzu and switch emulation has chilled. It does nothing but hurt the scene.

As I said before: I will never ever for any reason give any more money to Nintendo, I got every single of their console, their gamees, and their king bs like the cardboard stuff, they are dead to me and I only hope they fail hard on the switch2.

Seems like the typical pc user that boasts power house pc on emulators. As much as I dislike Nintendo doing that bullshit hunt on internet, this guy deserve no symphaty from me.

What a fucking idiot. He almost sounds like he was challenging Nintendo to take him down. Well they did and now they're charging him with what looks like well over a million dollars in damages.

He played with fire after being warned several times. Who'd've thunk it possible that the company widely known to be the most aggressive defenders of their products would aggressively defend their products.

My only hope is that he releases a diss track like when Geohot got sued by Sony.

Nintendo's favourite past time
Pastime. As in something you like to do to pass time. Now you'll always remember me as the one that taught you that.

Can they just do it alone without streaming? cause personally I don't understand the streaming part.

I'll never understand the mentality of people who want less competition in a free market.

This. I'll always be pro emulation for preservation purposes, but to say you have burner accounts and to taunt Nintendo of all companies?! Next level retarded.

File this under "he fucked around, and he is indeed going to find out."

if we follow this logic of playing games before release, then we should do the same to modded games
what if someone gets a copy early?

Then they can play it? This guy was linking directly to the piracy aspect of it, both emulators and rom while taking money.
Exactly. By US law Nintendo cant even demand the copy back. And as long as he isn't under NDA or start spreading it around he is free to do what the heck he wants.

whre is the proof that it was an emulated pirated game and not an early copy on the switch?
I don't know. I'm sorry if I've confused you somewhere but I'm not part of Nintendo legal team for this case or any others.

I read the link in the OP and saw what he is being accused of.

I don't want less competition, I want them failing, someone else will come.
i don't understand how so many are ok with nintendo doing this
if PS or xbox did the same thing there would a huge backlash but when it's nintendo they consider it normal and justified

Both parties seem kinda retarded to me.

The silly youtuber, for making fun at the big corpo, and the big corpo for paying any kind of attention to the silly youtuber.

Apparently he was offering to "help[] anyone and everyone who wants to get Nintendo games for free (and early), or who needs help installing and setting up...[Nintendo] Switch emulators that let you play [Nintendo] Switch games for free." Nintendo has been building this case for a couple of years by now, guess they got enough evidence.

In under 2 years he'd played at least 10 different leaked games over 50 times while linking to where to get them for a profit. He was getting their money, that's why the big corpo went after him.

What happens if everyone... The population of the world, uses the emulator?

When are they going for MvG? Im waiting for that day to come 🤣

I guess they monitor anyone mentioning Nintendo and piracy in the same line but for the time being I doubt they got anything. The guy also knows pretty well which stones to step onto when crossing the chasm, he always shows he owns the hardware when dumping stuff.

Well, this guy streamed unreleased games and allegedly posted links to prod.keys and pirated software and all the while making money out of it.

OP should add that. Because it's a fucking difference if my humble 100 subscriber channel has some videos of games running on an emulator or if I fuck around with released or unreleased pirated software, enable others also doing so and earning money with it.
