Like every system, it has its graphical showcases and its graphical blunders.

For Square, KH3D looks fine and Chocobo Racing is a port of a DS game.

Nope. It's completely new, though for all I know, it might have begun development on DS.

Depends what you mean by "2D." I wouldn't expect many 100% 2D, top-down, hand-drawn titles, since they're poorly suited to stereoscopic 3D.

I want this so bad, but at a possible $300, and knowing that much better revisions of it will probably come out sooner rather than later... just makes it a tough purchase right out of the gate.

Seeing that Tales of the Abyss pic has me sooooo excited for the future of traditional RPGs on 3DS (and PSP2 for that matter)

Can NEVER get enough of those :)

Publishers are taking select games that they determine would be good fits for stereoscopic 3D conversion, and then take the time to hand-tweak them so that objects appear on the proper layer and that no new graphical glitches are introduced. Since most top-down 2D RPGS make no effort at all to adhere to a proper, consistent 3D perspective, they would be overly time-consuming to convert and thus I don't expect to see any on the service.

To clarify, since there's some confusion about it: the Virtual Console, as a whole, is not going to be 3D, only select games.

that's a non issue son. We know it can be extremely good so if some devs don't even try that's not 3DS' fault

I cannot wait to see the next Mario game. It will feature some wacky 3D stuff for sure

The OP certainly looks much beefier now that more games have been added.

I would say that the 3DS may have the best opening year of any console ever made if all of those games come out in 2011. Year of the handheld is you ask me.

Would have liked to see Konami make a Ninja Goemon 3D, basically they could just port Mystical Ninja starring Goemon from the N64.

Most likely either at CES (Jan 6-9) or late January. It launches on February 26th in Japan, and I'm sure they will reveal all before they actually release.

Yeah but numerous sites are taking preorders for those colors. EB Games in Australia is taking preorders for Blue and Red...I hope we get the red one in the US though ;-;

While a bunch of remakes of N64 games is okay, I hope Nintendo is working on tons of new games (and possibly new IP). We totally got jipped with the VC.

That's only because those are the colors Nintendo showed off in their intro videos and more recent pictures, not due to any new information retailers got from Nintendo. It's a guess (though an informed one).

See, speaking personally, I don't understand the "A revision will come soon so it's better to wait."

I mean, if it were like a month? Yeah, that makes sense. But with trade in deals, ebay, etc., I'd be out at worst $70 and will have fourteen months of playing games due to it. I pay nearly $70 for games that last me six hours.

By the by, it bears mentioning that Mega Man Legends 3 will be developed using Capcom’s pride-and joy MT Framework! To explain it simply, MT Framework is Capcom’s exclusive game engine. To put it even more simply, it’s sort of a set of “high-performance game-making tools” we at Capcom developed ourselves (although to be more accurate, it’s something else). Sort of a tricky subject, but I’m hoping I’ll have a chance to have the programmers tell you a little more about all that in the future.

Okay I edited the OP, basically turning this into the official thread if that's possible at this time. Hopefully we don't get a ton of trolls and all of my hard work goes down the shitter.

Anyone else want to see anything in the OP that should be included? Maybe a description of each game as details get released?

There's been relatively little 3DS news since the conference nearly two and a half months ago, and there are still significant gaps in what we know about the system (online play, 3DSWare). I think people are just assuming that the floodgates have to open sometime soon with the JP launch approaching.

The early reports that Nintendo would actually have a floor showing were wrong, so I'd say not. One of the IGN editors claimed he's heard that Western 3DS developers are being told to keep quiet until late January, so we'll see if that pans out - it probably won't be any later than that or early February, unless the US launch gets pushed into Q2.

Panzer Dragoon as a franchise is sadly dead, but if they ever ported Orta I'd be as happy as a pig in shit.

Now that I think about it, that game would be astounding in 3D.

It might not be dead, it looks like it could work on 3DS since Kid Icarus looks to be very similar.

Yeah, I know this thread is about software but... am I the only one that noticed that the analog stick has a round frame instead of a polygonal one?
