No Mans Sky Beyond, Out Now! (Update Notes)

Alright too many good updates and changes. Im starting a new save.
I wish that Hello Games can focus on getting console framerates at a stable level. I frequently find the frame drops when entering and exiting my base and its not even a huge base. Might downsize my bases in future with the new save. So very happy and i can't wait to get off from work to play.
Best comeback this gen this game. Incredbile.

Yeah, this happened with a previous update too. New saves work fine, bag of hurt for everyone else. I’m actually glad. I really didn’t need No Man’s Sky to take another 180 hours from me.

I think if you're planning on running with an old save then it's probably best to wait for some patching. The update was huge, no way they've have it come out bug-free, but I dare say they have a tonne of crash reports coming in, so some fixes should be in the works pretty soon.

Maybe try a fresh save under a different play mode. Good opportunity to check out the new aspects, without running the risk of constant crashes.

I got my second S Class last night. Saw it and panic bought it before really looking it over. 1) it’s bloody yellow again and 2) what the fuck is the dorsal fin all about?! My wife asked me if I was compensating for something 🤦🏻‍♂️

Oh and I’ve placed my order for a VR headset!

Told the story in the "what have you played thread", but yeah, I was pretty unimpressed with the VR experience on PS4Pro. Visually it leaves too much to be desired and some of the gestures are not very intuitive (weapon drawing, menu navigation).
The Move-Controller-space-ship-handling was just disappointing.

The one real good part: aggressive creatures can be punched in their procedural face, so that was satisfying.

meh.. different strokes I guess.. I found it to be very intuitive. grabbing your gun on the back. the visuals are not that bad everything is readable. and the scale of things and the feeling of the planets I have been to so far has been fantastic.

I can understand the spaceship controls, had some problems to begin with but got a hang on how it worked after some trial and error.

the feeling of hyper jumping to a planet that gets bigger and bigger the closer you get, entering the atmosphere and then breaking through the cloud cover to reveal the planets surface hurdling towards you is priceless!

I've been switching back and forth from the Moves to the DS4, just taking in the controls with the Moves in bit sizes to really get a grasp of them so I don't get frustrated. The Moves are super satisfying once you get it down, but it is more difficult. DS4 is always there though when I want it.

I found out it helped holding the right move in upright position and the left in a horizontal position like the controls in the craft, but not stretching to reach the controls in the cockpit and just press the triggers so your hands snaps to the positions of the controls in the ship... if that makes sence. :p

I just can't get into it. Started an old save in which I left off doing random boring missions, so I hadn't enough fuel or whatever it is you need to explore another galaxy. Began the grind and remembered how annoying grinding in this game is. Quickly noticed that all my own QoL mods are outdated, although the update itself has some of its own so that's good. I'll give it another shot on a new save today since my old one crashes every now and then. It's a shame because I really like my ship.

for what I played so far I thnk they have tweaked the grinding. did not feel that I had to collect too much to advance. its also nice that you can take your refinery with you with out breaking it or loosing parts to make it again :)

That's a thought - I wonder if the mods folk have installed are clashing with the new iteration of the game and causing crashes?

Yeah, we can agree on that. Different strokes. I would have very much preferred, between other negatives, to have the gun holstered on the hip, and that the grab button wouldn't be the fire button. "Everything readable" I think is not always the case... in scanner mode there where some info bubbles that where really suffering from the low resolution.

Maybe it will be a better experience, if i try Romulus Romulus ' trick and switch to the gamepad for the ship. Is it just getting up the controller or do you have to disconnect the moves?

I tried my PC-Version with a chockful mod-list and they seem to have changed the way it is modded. I can not remember seeing the typical "Your game is modded, beware!"-warning.

I wonder if that's the issue some people are experiencing then? Might be worth disabling all mods and seeing how it goes.

Removed mods but it crashed while I was at the options menu. Started a new game and crashed about 20 minutes in. That's it for me until they patch it some more.

EDIT: Might try the experimental branch. Looks like some people on PC can't even get past the start menu.

Bought it yesterday and, uh, this is quite a time-sink eh? So many things to buy/collect/build/scan/upgrade I don't know where to begin.

It's also a Jet Engine game in more ways then one, running on a PS4 Pro... :messenger_hushed:

works fine on pc no dramas no crashes just controller wont work, last win 10 update, last nvidia drivers. so ill wait for that fix, on PS4 pro works fine without any problems.
And Pro is loud on many games so this is no louder then other bigger games.
Just for someone who want more exploring and not building base there is no more signal booster so you cant find crashed ships or abandoned building with it. Not sure how to do it now , maybe there is new way for that will see.

So my initial experience was lots of crashing but when I finally got in I’ve been enjoying it in VR. I also agree with those that say it’s a blurry mess. Occasionally all the text will just blur on me and I can’t read a thing. Shifting the headset of course fixes it but woooh. I still love the sense of presence though.

I stopped using the moves because I just had too many tracking issues and then there was the ship. 😂

For me it’s way easier to move around using the ds4.

I’ve reached my second planet and am starting work on my terrain manipulator now. Going to play 2d for a while now. I forgot how great this game looks outside of VR.

It looks like the ps4 version is the buggiest of the bunch. Played on pc yesterday for a couple hours in vr and all things considered it ran pretty smoothly.

Hopefully they can optimize the game further for vr, I've been playing with medium settings (that's what the game defaulted to, even though my pc is more than capable).

Still, an incredible experience seeing massive ships or clouds flying overhead. And being on a remote valley really feels like being thousand light-years away on an unknown planet.

And it gets spooky at night. Can't wait to play some co-op with my buddy.

It was very clever of them to increase the ship size mind, it's certainly created an impressive sense of scale.

Played for a couple of hours on PC. No crashes. Performance seems better. Only issue i had was with controller. I have an xbox elite. Some commands don't work. To mark a target holding X do nothing.

I started a new game. Things are more streamlined. The planets i visited look more natural. I noticed less pop in. The increased inventory storage is a godsend.

2.05 is on PC .
Thank you again to everyone playing Beyond, especially those taking the time to report any issues they encounter via Zendesk or console crash reporting.
We are listening closely to your feedback, and have identified and resolved a number of stability issues. Fixes for these were released on Steam experimental last night, and this patch, 2.05, is now live on PC. We’ll be rolling out these fixes to other platforms as soon as possible.
Bug fixes
  • Fix for crashes occurring in the Space Anomaly.
  • Fixed a number of issues causing some players to experience low framerate after visiting the Space Anomaly.
  • Fixed a rendering related crash.
  • Fixed an out of memory crash.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause a crash when manipulating inventory in close proximity to a high number of players.
  • Fixed a crash affecting VR with supersampling enabled.
  • Fixed a situation where network connectivity issues could prevent players from speaking to NPCs aboard the Space Anomaly.
  • Fixed an issue where storage containers could not be accessed.
  • Fixed a crash affecting unsupported VR hardware.

all is good but what about X1 controller on pc not working after update ? or DS4 controller emulated as X1 or DS4 controller as itself. nothing works.

Works for me. You may need to turn on your Xbox One controller BEFORE turning on the game. It does seem like it doesn't play nice until you do that.

Its not a "rush through" game lol but follow the story it gets you going on all aspects of the game in a ordered way the first ~5 hours are crammed but after that you pretty much get it.
It is a arcade game not a simulation even if the beginning is a bit overwhelming.

some people caysing on PC VR its blurry too unless you use FXAA, so maybe PS4 needs change something there to make it less blurry

Played on PC in VR using Oculus Rift S and it worked really well. They did a good job with the interface and switching between all the menus works well with the touch controllers. The graphics were a bit blurry so I may have to mess with the super-sampling options.

The only thing I had issues with was flying, as the sensitivity is off, so I never felt like I had great control of the ship. Horizontal vs vertical seems to be set to different levels but I only saw one setting for sensitivity and not for each type. Other than that I had a blast and played for about on hour and got my ship functional and traveled to a new planet.

I tried this all yesterday and I was very surprised on how much they changed things. I decided to make a new game and what a different experience it is. Goals are clearly laid out, tutorial checklist was a welcomed addition. Starting resources to survive starting on an extreme planet is plentiful so you don't die when you spawn. The blueprints are in separate tech trees so you don't have to take random stuff. Refining is sped up for sure. Overall, they did a really good job to allow new players to jump in without being overwhelmed. Not sure what veterans see with the new updates.

The face of God.

I'm having an issue now where I can't get power to my hydroponic trays. Anyone else having this issue post update? Really enjoying it though so far.

They made it more clear for sure explaining every step for first timers for sure. And its good info for others too.
Found atlas v1 and v2 keys blueprint in one abandoned building. Got 2 choices to choose for many blueprints so chose those ones. Never knew they could be achieved so early. Enjoying game. Not following just mission objectives exploring one planet for long time as it has lots good stuff to dig up and collect .

I would say yes it's a good time to start. I started with the patch after owning it for a while and never really touching it . One tip though youtube how to do the melee jetpack dash thing ..it will make the game soooooo much more fun

Also a question for anyone more experienced do resources like plants regrow after a while ? or is it one and done?

How is the gunplay? Have they done anything to it or is it still as stiff as it was in previous iterations? Would like some sort of overhaul to that so it became more fun to engage drones and enemies.

It's the same. Combat is not the focus. And before combat i think they should improve exploration.
