No Man's Sky: Relics (New update)

Description:

Here's the No Man's Sky: Relics trailer. This new No Man's Sky update lets players become palaeontologists and dig up the skeletal remains of alien creatures. Unearth hundreds of unique bones, assemble skeletons to design fossil exhibits, join the community on an expedition to recreate lost creatures, and more! Beware, dangerous creatures guard these treasures, from Stone Ghosts to huge Stone Golems.

Improved Abandoned mode:

Playing in an abandoned universe has been streamlined and enhanced. Derelict space stations now contain functional upgrade stations for the Exosuit, starship, and Multi-Tool, as well as salvage boxes containing valuable upgrades. Travellers can scavenge further technologies from planetary buried caches, and purple systems are automatically visible on the Galaxy map.

The No Man's Sky: Relics update is available to download and play on PC, consoles, and VR for free today.

The most interesting thing about this update is that some of the enemies, new animations, skins/models, and environments look strikingly similar to some of the things people saw in Light No Fire's initial trailer.

Dear Hello Games,

yes, we know you fucked up back in the day. Too many promises and all that. But, you've since more than made up for it (arguably NMS is much more than what was promised, these days). With free updates all the way. You have been forgiven. Just focus on your next game, looking forward to it.

By the way things look, Light no Fire will be a free expansion for NMS, lol.
They have outdone themselves with the amount of content they have poured into this game.

I still believe deep down that they will find a way to connect the two games. Time will tell.
I can see that. Light No Fire logo looks like someone broke the No Man's Sky logo and the sphere inside got bigger.

Maybe in the last NMS update, there'll be a quest that takes you to the center of the universe you're in, and instead of choosing to go to a different one, you choose to collapse everything into 1 universe, and you get put on 1 planet with none of the tech you had in NMS.

Given their track record, seems likely. They will probably take whatever they build for Light No Fire and make every planet in No Man's Sky as complex as the one in that game.

As a longtime NMS player with my own little personal history and drama with the game...

Fuck them for bringing dinosaur bones into the game. I still vividly remember the debut trailer, and they showed diplos and a triceratops. Then we never got those actual dinosaurs in the game. They have a sorta stegosaurus that I've seen, and a sorta diplo, but it isn't the same. I have spent a lot of time in Creative Mode just planet hopping to find dinosaurs and have only found those two sorta types. It pisses me off for my own little selfish reasons. Yes, I am inconsequential as a player and as a person in a universe that doesn't give a fuck, but that's my little selfish, childish dino rant.

I'm still gonna check out Light No Fire though lol

It feels like the updates to NMS are accelerating at this point. All whole developing a brand new game. They must have some serious coffee in Guildford

I really want to try all those new things but after 1700 hours betweens i don't remember how many save games, i just can't. I'm playing since day -15

I want to start playing NMS but the more stuff they add, the more it looks like a massive time sink.
My brother recently started playing the game, and while he's enjoying it more than he expected to, he's said the worse thing about the game is the lack of a decent tutorial.

Honestly, if you're new to the game it can be a real shit. I strongly suggest watching some videos on YouTube about starting out hint and tips. Some videos are in the form of a starting tutorial, which is very handy.

The game is great, and the exploration and missions are very rewarding, but starting out if definitely the worst bit.

I've recently restarted my save and I agree, they make the initial hours a grind checklist that prevents you from going anywhere for way too much time.

if they started doing paid expansions i wouldn't be mad. i'd love to see them expand the game much further. but of course if they don't want to do that then they have more than made up for their mistakes.

I put about 15hrs or so into the PSVR2 version, man it looked great but after a while each planet just feels kinda the same, it's the same look(ish) and feel with the same dots around the planet to go look at it, there just isn't enough of a variety within the actual planets themselves and it all became a bit boring imo, fantastic concept and i absolutely applaud the Developers for their continued support but i think i'll be holding off and waiting for their next game which does have more of a crafted feel about it even with all its generated content

Kind of reminds me of Sea of Theives in space.

To be fair to this team, they've done an absolutely incredible job of turning this game around.

If you haven't played this game yet, do yourself a favor and do it. It's definitely worth it.

A space game where you can't land on a moon or a single dead planet.
If you ever read this, your take needs to be updated. There have been moons, dead planets, and abandoned zones for a while now.

Are you guys into a joke I'm not aware of?

You can land on moons in NMS and there are dead planet types.
It happens every NMS thread because the game gets so many frequent updates that people aren't sure what to negatively comment on.

The two safest things to criticize at this point are the gameplay loop and the tutorial needing an update.
