[NX Gamer] Monster Hunter Wilds - Technical Preview | A sign of the future?

Capcom keep a constant delivery schedule of big hitters, and none more popular than Monster Hunter in their modern portfolio. The early access Beta released late last year and again this month ahead of the full release at its end. I wanted to investigate what the RE Engine has in store for us, what those PC and console specs mean, how it runs, what we can expect at launch and if it is reinforcing some worrying trends within the industry?

Chapters:
0:00 Introduction
0:36 RE Engine/Wilds features, updates and challenges across PC and consoles
3:25 PC Benchmark testing RTX5090/7950X3D and RX6800/5600x
5:40 Ray Tracing cost and comparisons
6:36 PS5 Pro vs PS5 vs Xbox Series X|S Frame rate and Resolution mode - BETA testing
13:23 Steam Deck Benchmark testing and struggles
14:34 Benchmark breakdown and how it uses hardware
16:35 Current engine demands across PC and consoles
18:40 Final Thoughts on release and what some of the decisions may mean

It almost looks good on a 5090 with everything maxed, everywhere else? oof

Is it the lightning? the desert setting? IDK but everything looks so flat, so ugly..

I bought a sex doll, but I keep it inflated 100% of the time and use it like a regular wife

I think it's the low contrast and muted colors. Game's visual quality depends a lot on the scene and weather.

The future:
The year is 2040, we are on the Ps7, games looks slightly better than Ps5 titles, somehow we are still playing at 720p.
A select few of us that managed to grab an RTX 14050 at the MSRP of $14.500 are fully taking advantage of those 4K TVs we bought 20 years ago.

Paying from a graphic card? I think reality will be closer to a battle royale scenario. There's 10 GPUs and only 10 people will survive.

Capcom should have branched the RE engine a long time ago or started from scratch to create an open world engine. REngine is just not scalable and they should have known that.

That plus the emphasis on particle effects and "ultra realistic graphics" and a more open world on this engine and no wonder this is where we end up.

I would rather have a more vibrant, less flat looking, lower-poly, near-zero particle effect, smaller world (or segmented like the o'l days) game that runs like a top than this.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Smaller scope than DD2? All the monsters, wildlife, physics, environmental and weather effects, beg to differ.

Just saying based on what I've seen, traversing between places looked like linear 'paths' on the back of a chocobo style bird etc.
