OLED gaming tv recommendations

Let me have em Gaf, I’m moving and looking to upgrade.
I bought a Samsung QLED when I moved in here around 7 years ago. I’ve been pretty happy with it, but I’ve noticed some weird color and brightness issues lately that can be quite annoying when I’m gaming.
TV will be used primarily for games, I don’t watch many shows or movies. Looking for something in the 65 inch range with a budget around $1500 or so, give or take a lil.

LG C4 will be your best bet, and it's on sale for exactly $1499 for the 65" right now.

Super low input latency, VRR support, Dolby Vision/HDR-10/HDR-10+ support, 4 full-bandwidth HDMI 2.1 ports, and all of the benefits of OLED.


There's also the Samsung S90D, which will give you a brighter picture vs the C4 but does not support Dolby Vision.

Whatever LG has is tour best bet. If you want an OLED LG makes every panel. So you can get a Sony but it is still an LG panel. Sony might have a better high end processor, but I like my LG C1.

That LG 65 inch might fit the bill.
Weird that there are hardly any 70 inch oleds, I was looking to add 5 inches (that’s what she said).
The price jumps from the 65 inch sets to the 72 ones is pretty substantial, looks like I’ll stick to 65. New living room is smaller anyways and I’ll be sitting closer than I was in the old place.

If your room isn’t super bright I would go with LG. Otherwise Samsung may work better in bright environments. Both should be fine, but my general preference is toward LG for what I feel is better reliability vs Samsung.

LG G4 if it has to be OLED.

But modern Samsung QLEDs have game motion plus which reduce a lot of the stutter and add motion clarity in 30 fps and 60 fps games.

LG and Samsung are by far the best for gaming, due to their feature completeness and super low input latency.

Sony is the best if you want to have the best quality for movies, but their high input latency and often missing festures make them suboptimal for gaming.

so for gaming I'd say LG, because they have the best package overall and a good UI

I dont have an OLED, but currently have an LG Nanocell from a Costco warranty replacement substitution (they couldnt fix my Sony 900e).

This LG TV is the best TV I've had. Great visuals and ZERO issues.

Every other big splashy TV I've had (Sony or Panasonic lcd or plasma) have had issues requiring a repair call. My old ass Panny CRT was mint though.

Next time I get a TV, I'm going LG for sure.

I'd recommend taking a look at the TCLQM8/c89B, it's not an Oled but it comes very close in terms of contrast and it has the best bang for bucks by far.
Or you can get a samsung s90d or an Oled G3 I guess for that price. 1500 for a 65' limits the choices though hence my recommandation for TCL.

Sure I saw a video from HDTVTest for a Panasonic Z95A that's available in the states. You should consider Panasonic, they usually have the best OLED each year.

Quick question, is there a difference between an OLED C44LA (amazon link) and a 55C4 (amazon link), apart from 500$ ?
When i tried typing any of those two names plus review on google it just go to C4 reviews and even on lg website C44LA search goes to 55C4 page, but still 500$ difference is crazy...

I thought oled burn in was a “thing of the past.”
Since the tv will be used primarily (like 99%) for gaming this could definitely be a concern for me.

How much of a big deal having Dolby Vision really is?

Everywhere I've seen says the S90D easily beats the C4 and they're in the same price bracket. Went with the S90D myself after thoroughly looking into the pros and cons between the S90D, C4, and Bravia 8.

Been rocking a LG G1 hooked to a PC for ~4 years and it's everything I hoped for : 120hz, Gsync out of the box, no issue whatsoever and no trace of burn-in after intensive use.

Sounds like a great deal. IMHO the LG are best for gaming overall due to four HDMI 2.1 ports and HGIG.

Sometimes there's different model numbers for different regions with slight differences in what's included. The display will be the same, so the c4 4la should be the c4 with some slight variation in e.g. mounting hardware or audio or something to that nature. The $500 difference could simply be a matter of the lesser known model being less in demand, vendor clearing stock, etc.

I have LG 55 CX and I love it and I wanted to buy LG C4 65”, but it has different oled panel and its not great. The best panel in 2024 OLED line up is Samsung 65 s90c, you can check it in yt reviews or other reviews. So I will buy this year Samsung ^^

LG C3 is what I'm currently using and am very happy with it. Have a LG C7 (2017) still from my C3 and it still looks great too. I upgraded mainly for the gaming features of the C3.

Absolutely lg c4.
They don't f around with stupid RGB layout. White pixel is in WOLED because it helps with longevity instead of driving rgb pixels like crazy

It's pretty subtle but can definitely enhance the picture. If you're in a dark room I'd say DV is more beneficial with the C4. If you're in a bright room I'd say you'd benefit more from the extra brightness of the S90D vs Dolby Vision. Plus the S90D does have HDR-10+ support, which is very Dolby Vision esque, but Dolby Vision content is much more ubiquitous than HDR-10+ content.

Anything specific about the android OS?

I used an Apple TV for years before getting my Sony TV. I tried out the android OS and it works perfectly. I don't even use Google. I created a Google account just for the TV, set the TV to "apps only" mode, and its pretty much just like the Apple TV (no ads, etc). I use it for Plex and Youtube.

Sold my 4 year old 65 for 1000€ and bought a 77 for 1300€ (New, Never used). C2, absolute no brainer. I am impressed how much better the C2 is delivering!
