Outriders |OT| So much content, is this a GaaS? No, just an anomaly.

For the most part as trickster I find it’s mainly for finishing reloads or waiting that last second before a movement cooldown. I don’t use it in any way the same way as Gears, Uncharted, Division etc. but I still use it.
And fighting mini-boss characters one on one. But it's useless vs multiple enemies who will charge you and spawn from all directions. So I keep it moving and just keep killing. In Outriders enemies are your health packs.

Nahhhhh, thats not how any of this shit works. You telling me this game is getting zero "service" post launch? Nothing? The fuck? This game by default is a "GAAS".

And really, if GAAS were done properly it wouldn't be the albatross it is. Instead of using it as a platform to continually add content (and presumably make revenue from) an existing game they use it to justify releasing a game that's 25% done.

From what I've seen
Outriders has all of its content in place at release. It's a full game, regardless of how much DLC/content they release down the road. Anybody who played Anthem as much as I did will tell you that that is a refreshing change.

But how would you ever know such a thing? The problem with this argument is it's completely subjective.

I mean how the fuck do you know the game is 25% done? For all you know that might really be 100% for that team and all the additional content is them adding even more....

So the problem with this argument is it perceives to try to assume as if anybody is going to know what the completed game was ever going to be its information that's essentially impossible for the end user to ever truly actually know and in my opinion completely irrelevant because why on Earth would ever matter to you if the content still coming for free anyway to most of the games that even exist like this?

So I think the reality is when companies make games like this you can't tell me that the development team has no plans for future content because you're not in their minds , as an artist myself it would be like you trying to fucking tell me whether or not I created a full one hundred percent book that was "finished" as if you exist in my head to fucking know what I'm working on in the future or what I've already planned

you're never really going to know that bit of information which means a lot of it in my opinion is kind of irrelevant.

I mean really logically think about this for all you know the thing you think is a full game the development team has probably already planned several pieces of downloadable content for a long time now that will release in the future because I don't really believe they're just going to have no roadmap and everyone's just going to begin fucking thinking of ideas as soon as the game properly shifts as if the company literally did some Men In Black brain wipe so they wouldn't be allowed to actually conceptually think of new ideas lol

Look at Onimusha 1, shit look at The Order 1886

That is an extremely short game but you can't claim the game is "not complete" or the game is "not full" simply because it's short as if to argue more content existed somewhere else for the game with no real evidence to prove so it's simply a short fucking game so the problem with the Gaming Community is they seem to think any additional content must by default mean the game was incomplete or was released unfinished when technically speaking the development team might sincerely believe that is completed finished content to their liking and anything else might legitimately be additional.

So I don't really believe this is one of these situations that anyone truly solve because a lot of it is just too subjective based on what people want to argue of what they believe is "finished" or not. You are buying a video game at release as is, based on what it was marketed to be, you are not however buying everything inside of the creators head or on the paper as I think there seems to be a confusion of what is actually being purchased with these type of products.

Sir, i don't even believe it's remotely feasible that you can prove to me that not a single member of that development team has not already planned out or already developed additional content that was always planned for post-launch. Logically think about this for a moment, to whose benefit would it be for them NOT to work on additional content?

Even if we say the fucking games is 70 hours long, we've seen games 100 hours long, 200 hours long etc. Could one not argue they didn't "complete" the game and sold the rest later and it WAS REALLY BRO suppose to have 300 hours of content?

Who knows.

Ultimately, I feel this just can't be in a "done properly" situation as all games are going to be different. People made the same claims about AC Origins, Odyssey and Valhalla and funny enough the base games are around as long as this game is, didn't stop folks from saying any additional content was the "rest of the game". Couldn't for arguments sake, couldn't I just say Outriders is giving us less then half of the game and putting the rest as DLC? They put out hundreds of hours of DLC, thats just ammo to be like "oh woooooow here is the rest of the game bros" /s This is why I don't see this as an issue that can be solved. We have no set standard for time to really even support some of those claims tbh.

Anyone else finding (if they actually get online) that the up button quest-director sometimes sends you in totally the wrong direction?

This may happen if you are technically in an area where you SHOULD be able to go forward but you might have out sequenced what you are meant to do. At least that is what I have found happening to me.

Getting to the end of the campaign, thinking of switching classes. The trickster is fun, but I actually find the constant teleportation a little annoying.

Will try pyro next. More conventional, but I prefer the gun play to the powers.

I know by playing it. Anthem shipped without an endgame and with a gear system that was almost entirely fake numbers.

Outriders shipped with an endgame, including difficulty tiers and a gear system where the numbers mean something.

Argument is pointless anyhow, everybody is using a different definition of GaaS.

Friend of mine complained that playing pyro was hard, doing no damage, dying immediately etc.
So I just made a pyro and played all the way up to deadrock pass, and it's -way- easier than trickster imo; I just stand still most of the time while everything just explodes.

I feel like pyro might actually be the most OP class in the game fully geared/leveled, and I have no idea what my friend is doing.

Do you guys actually like the game? I'm finding it kind of meh at the moment
I hated the demo. Then I started playing the game as a run and gun, rarely use cover style and it was more fun. The first few levels up to the first boss are kinda blah imo.

Hit level 10 and the game opens up a bit. Your gear and weapons really start to give awesome perks. I'm playing the tank and absorbing bullets and doing a dive bomb attack killing 5 guys at once is pretty awesome.

The biggest problem i have (excluding the servers) is with matchmaking, still haven't got a single hit from it, I'm lvlb12 at tier 6 and still haven't meet noone online.

In the beginning i used to play it like gears and the game was totally trash,as soon as i switched playing offensively everything changed and i must say the combat is freaking awesome,it gives you the feel of being godlike but still offers a challenge, I'm so glad i gave the game a chance. Also the story is not that bad, it has it's moments. The only bad think is using unreal engine IMHO, probably a homemade engine could have helped with the multiple zone loading (even if on series x loading is not that bad,) truly nextgen engine can't come soon enough.

Yeah the random online co-op bit doesn't seem to work for me either. I've read that people playing with friends works, but if you're just looking for some players through the matchmaker, I haven't got a single player or match found yet. Would be nice to get some extra players for both the fun factor and it would probably take the edge off certain combat areas that are a real pain in solo.

I've had several sessions today, all of which I get kicked to the main menu after about 30 minutes of game time, that seems to be my upper limit.

I think I'm done. Going to wait a couple of weeks for them to get their shit together. But with everything out/coming out, it'll probably get swept under the rug entirely.

From what I've actually be able to play - I'm honestly surprised this game is as hyped as it seems to be. It seems perfectly competent. Feels snappy and responsive, solid 3rd person cover shooter gameplay. Doesn't seem to do much different/better than any other game, based on my opening few hours of it anyway. It's fine.

I'm not too annoyed at the "can't connect to the server".

What I'm annoyed at is the disconnects:
-Disconnects when you are in the middle of the boss fight and you have to do it all over again
-Disconnects while you are nearly done a long battle and have to do it all over again
-Disconnects while you are trying to pick up the loots and chest after you cleared an area

I would be a bit more angry if I actually paid full price for this game.
Haven’t started it yet. Can you get disconnected so you have to restart even if you play solo? Or is this a co-op issue?

That's because you play it as a cover shooter, and as a cover shooter it sucks compared to gears or division.

The first boss on the solar station solo at world tier 3 is super hard. Had to drop down to world tier 2. But made it in the first try, after switching (tho I got practice in the w3 tries before).

How does this game scale in co-op?

The game is surprisingly fun IMO. I haven't had any disconnection issues thus far.

I have tried to match with random players, but all it does is load for a while and then tell me that no games can be found. Kinda sucks, I hear you get better loot etc. If you play with others.

Would be nice to get some more legendary items.

It really is a fantastic game, when you can get in. Servers have been stable for last 12 hours though so it's looking up.

Currently level 26, world tier 10. Trickster is the best class imho.

Also, to all the articles pre launch saying "if you're using cover you're playing this game wrong", that may make sense at lower world tiers but at 10+ and soloing you cannot survive without taking cover. It all makes sense now.

I'm at level 16 trickster tier 6 and I feel like I've hit a brick wall.

At first it was fun, but I feel like I am always running for my life and feel always caught out in the open after I teleport.

I suck at shooting accuracy with gamepads, so I thought trickster with melee would be the perfect choice, but I noticed I've relied on guns and cover a lot in this game.

Gonna start another class and see if I like that better. Devestator maybe to feel a bit tanky?

You should stick with trickster for a bit longer. At tier 6 you can pretty much be out in the open full time without issues. What gun is your primary?

For me I main shotgun so I've specced down the assassin tree. This playstyle is about closing the gap and just blasting head shots at point blank range. Trickster heals only when killing enemies in short range so you literally need to be right up in people's faces to stay alive.

What skills were you using?

Then back the world tier off a bit until you have better gear. I don't really see much point in pushing the limit of world tier until your character is max level and through the main campaign. WT will come naturally at endgame.

the biggest single mistake people are doing (that they did not checked the game prior when developers talk about healing) that they don't play the game with that specific class as it should have been played, i saw many videos when people are playing Trickter for exp, and playing from long or medium distance, but how you heal? the same with devastator. that is how the game gets way harder than it should have been for you - the player.

also, trickster use Twisted Rounds, make this skill that it would last very long in the fights, there are plenty of gun and armor mods to do that.

if you prefer gunplay to the power, then you have to play technomancer. pyro have to use his skills all the time.

I've had to uninstall for now as the game just runs like complete ass. No matter what DirectX mode I use or what settings and resolution. The amount of stuttering, tearing, frame drops, input lag and worst vsync implementation known to man is just putting a massive damper on things. It's a shame too as I love the gameplay. But there really is no excuse when I can run stuff like DOOM Eternal, Division 2 and plenty of other games on high settings and 1440p resolution just fine.

Meh. See you in 2024 when new PC components will finally be on the market again lol.
