I've been catching up on S.Link FM over the last few weeks. I got to the Karen Strassman episode today and it is so good. It's kind of nice to listen to these and hear all the speculation and discussion knowing what we know now about the Index/Sega stuff and the reveals etc.
I love it when the sim does Marie's "stupidjerkface"-style speech. Gets me every time! XD
The legends were true!
They're actually just for show. They don't function.
You can see Chie's ears in almost all of Soejima's art of her.
Apparently I'm missing something.

A sense of humor.

They kind of fade into her uber-bowl cut.
A sense of humor.
BUT WHY WOULD WE JOKE ABOUT HER EARS WHEN YOU CAN SEE HER EARS IN EVERY PICTURE SHE'S IN?
I disagree. P3 and P4 have really good presentation considering their simplicity.
She does talk as if she's hard of hearing.
Don't misunderstand: I absolutely adore the style of P3/P4. It all works graphically due to the simplicity and sheer style of how everything fits. They do well with what they've got.
What I'm referring to, specifically, are actual character animations. PQ may be a mess, visually speaking, but the characters at least have a variety of fluid animations. They're able to pull off some interesting dynamic cutscenes like that part where Mitsuru is holding on to Akihiko and Shinji. P4/P3 used a lot of the same static animations, even in important cutscenes. They both had pretty low animation fidelity.
P3/P4 were really the "budget series" for Atlus at the time. They did a stellar job in taking their limited budget and making it work for them, but you can't deny that they skimped on cutscenes and model animation compared to Nocturne and DDS. I'm particularly excited for P5 for this reason: It's going to get the star treatment.

Only in P4G.![]()
I feel like PQ's battle layout is purely due to the creative team sticking to that first person EO style, rather than technical limitations. I agree that it doesn't look too hot, though.
In fact, I kind of wonder if they're just using the EOIV engine.

So your personal canon now completely excludes Arena, I see.
I bet a lot of the improvements to the EO formula that'll be seen in PQ will make its way back to EO in a future installment. Especially if they follow up Untold with its story telling.
That'd be a similar case to elements from P4A transferring over to BB:CP.

A nice update over the weekend on the P3 Movie site:
I believe this was one of the first key arts for Spring of Birth, but it's nice to see it again. Also, I turned it into an avatar if anyone wants to use it:

And Nocturne couldn't come over to the states again either way because of Dante.
I actually wonder what will happen with the EO series, especially if PQ sells more than it.
And I think it will do.
What if...

Uh, it'd continue existing?
I disagree, to a point, at least.
If PQ does well, I think EO will become lower priority.
How so? The games are made by different internal teams and there's a market for both Persona and Etrian Odyssey.
It's not as though the priority for other ASW games was reduced because Persona 4 Arena was more successful than BlazBlue and the same will go for the dancing game.

Also, PQ is by the Etrian Odyssey team, so what do you mean that they're separate? Are there two Etrian Odyssey teams or something? It's directed by Daisuke Kanada, who directed EO 1 and 4. I had assumed that pretty much the entire EO team would be focused on it.
First of all, Arena sold less than the first Blazblue, so why would that affect anything?
Those are the opening week sales.
The first three Blazblues sold 1.7 million combined.
Opening week with lifetime beside it for the other games.
Link to your numbers.
I'm also concerned that you're missing the point of the discussion. Arena's sales next to Blazblue's don't really mean anything anyway, like I said, because Arena isn't Arc's IP.
Oh hey, P3FES is on sale on NA PSN for $4.99 (original price $9.99). Grab it if you haven't.
None of the PSP ones are on sale, are they?
