So I can't be the only one who thinks the vast majority of the Republicans that come out in favor of gay marriage are going to get primaried, no?

How true is the bold really?
To offset depressing here's a vid to watch to make all the right feels: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=_TBd-UCwVAY
;__;
I don't want to sound like Jack Bauer but there wouldn't be time for that if North Korea nuked SK. The US would have to respond immediately and try to take out NK's nuclear and artillery sites. Some might argue responding with a US nuke would be essential to send a message not just to NK but other countries; there was a 2005 war game that basically came to that conclusion. Personally I would rather just bomb the country conventionally, focusing on disabling them from attacking the south again. I don't think nukes should be used (today) unless in retaliation to a nuclear strike on the US.
Kim and his generals would be killed by the bombing most likely; most of their nuclear tech is underground, the US would use bunker busting bombs.
Agreed. Portman is a solid conservative, I doubt he'll be challenged. Whereas Kirk is more of a moderate and Illinois has quite a collection of crazy republicans. Maybe Joe Walsh will step to the plate...Portman and Kirk aren't up for reelection till 2016 I think the issue isn't going to be a litmus test by then. And they're both in bluer states.
Obama still winning the presidency after coming out in support BEFORE the election probably removed apprehension from supporting it for a lot of politicians. I would hope, anyway.
Meh ... different audiences. The people who weren't going to vote for Obama because of his support of SSM, weren't going to vote for him anyway. Don't get me wrong, I think what he did was very brave considering there are no "do overs" in an election cycle. The GOP's audience might care more about SSM than the people who voted for Obama though. I think all Dems should feel comfortable though.
There's plenty of arguments against communist and socialist regimes but Cuba is not the right example to use imo. It's problem stem less from communist ideas but rather the US' ridiculous stance against it.How's that communism thing working out in Cuba and North Korea? It just doesn't work.
TOPEKA - The Great State of Kansas passed away on March 31, 2013, after a long and difficult battle with extremism that became markedly more aggressive in 2010. The struggle left the state so weakened it could no longer fight against the relentless attacks by the fatal disease.

Context of the piece is a bit unclear to somebody not familiar with Kansas news. Sure, extremist Republicans have been taking hold, but what in particular marked the time of death?Considering posting this as its own thread.

Hits the nail on the head. It's terrifying that my legislature (Oklahoma) is looking to Kansas for ideas, and it's sad that what were once populist, progressive states have become the playthings of people like the Kochs.

Obama now has a higher approval rating than Jindal in Louisiana.

There's no 'might' about it, at least not with the GOP culture warriors that I know. While there are more & more Repubs accepting gay marriage's inevitability, I have serious doubts the issue won't still be one of the litmus test issues in the GOP. But again, maybe the GOPers I know are clouding my judgement on the issue...because they HATE homosexuals. My (and especially my wife's) FB wall was a carnival of stupid last week due to the SCOTUS hearing.
Speaking of local news, I'm disappointed that our new republican governor Pat McCrory can't even be counted on to respect his previous career as mayor of Charlotte and is now coddling an actively anti-urban state assembly.
I regret putting things in the Pro column for him. Just another Rick Snyder Republican.

I think people are FINALLY starting to figure out that the GOP is not really for less taxes . . . they are for less taxes on the rich. Moving from income taxes to sales taxes is hugely regressive. His call to abolish the state's personal and corporate income tax is also unpopular, with 63 percent saying they are opposed to the proposal.
I'm not sure exactly, but the abolishment of the income tax last year has really created problems there. Thankfully they're not considering that here (yet), but they're still cutting taxes on the backs of the most vulnerable.Context of the piece is a bit unclear to somebody not familiar with Kansas news. No idea, but the Charlotte Observer ran this sunday:NC GOP is going after voting. Has McCrory gotten rid of NC's film tax credit yet?

In other news, I don't like Ben Carson because I'm a racist.
Carson, who is the head of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins University, said he represents an existential threat to liberals. "They need to shut me up, they need to get rid of me," Carson said. "They can't find anything else to delegitimize me, so they take my words, misrepresent them and try to make it seem that I'm a bigot."
"And you're attacked also, in many respects, because of your race," Levin said. "Because you're not supposed to think like this and talk like this. A lot of white liberals just don't like it, do they?"
"Well, you know, they're the most racist people there are," Carson said. "Because, you know, they put you in a little category, a little box, you have to think this way. How could you dare come off the plantation?"
Tell me something I don't know!
FYI, all yall who don't like Ben Carson, it's because you're racists.
Do they not realize what he said wrong?
Shut-up, racist!
Sorry, I can't believe I said that. How could I be so racist? I'm going to try and unconditionally love him regardless of the crap he says. I can be better than this!
No you can't. You're a liberal.
The KKK strung black people up from trees for fun but white liberals are the most racist people there are "because, you know, they put you in a little category."
Because he's a black republican, of course.Sorry, I can't believe I said that. How could I be so racist? I'm going to try and unconditionally love him regardless of the crap he says. I can be better than this!

They could look at the black box. They could look at phone records. They could do a blood test for medications. They could speak to the witnesses who say the driver ran a light. They could pull cameras.
They could, you know, investigate.
Also, you may not know this, but the speed limit in NYC is 30mph. It shouldnt take much investigation to find out if the driver was speeding.
Never mind the fact that the law states that if you lose control, you were driving too fast for conditions.
I said nothing about jail time.
But the penalty is nothing. No fine. No license suspension. No community service.
And you know what jail time would achieve? It absolute would help deterrence.
Knowing you can speed in NYC and destroy the lives of 10 people, and get off scott free, why bother obeying the speed limit?
If the driver got 25 years, you bet people might start paying more attention to their driving.
Well the KKK was founded by democrats so by proxy Carson is still correct!

I mean, I don't think you need to assume this level of internecine trickery. If Judd would have been a lousy candidate that would've lost, and the Dems believe it's a winnable seat otherwise, that's actually plenty of reason to try to stop her from running. I don't see any reason to suspect any sort of machine politics here besides the basic desire to win elections.
