PSA: Don't let being from America distract you from the fact Sony is on some fuckshit

Could be a £1 and there would be fake outrage regardless. Its 20$ cnd increase, why on earth is it panic mode in this thread? Is there some place the price went up higher?
No. They are posting record profits. They are supposed to lose money during hardware launches and they somehow managed to avoid that and posted $3.25 billion in profit in their 2020 fiscal year. You don't think chip shortage, supply chain, and global inflation had any impact on on profitability? I imagine they were having to pay a premium for these components in order to produce PS5s with some consistency.
This doesn't track as some sort of greed related price hike.
Just like past generations, that is their goal... Unfortunately it is REALLY hard to redesign a cheaper smaller console when you can't even get enough materials for your current product. They'll get there eventually... when, shit man could take awhile.Better idea. Slim it down and cut the cost.
The defensive responses behind this are just...weird.Yes because the record inflation just after a massive pandemic happens every console gen.
Emojis?? Your dik riding another mans post while having 6000 posts in 2 years compared to my now 58. You lost years agoYou used 4 emojis in one post. You already lost.
Who knows. Too lazy to check. But it goes to show how even super profitable companies dont disclose profits by distinct product line either. How much profit did they lose in the last quarter, with a 7% decline in revenue?
There it is.

Inflation has ramped up everywhere.
What a coincidence. The country (USA) which Xbox and PS battle the closest has no PS5 price increase. So much for a publicly issued memo stating inflation, currency and global economic factors.
Many things have gone up, but many things have stayed the same. I dont think the price of bananas, yogurt and chicken have gone up in 20 years. Is this the first time ever a console maker has INCREASED their prices? It's funny but honestly not surprising. The cost of everything I buy has basically doubled in the last year![]()
BasicallyPSA: Don't let being from America distract you from the fact Sony is on some fuckshit
Basically. The brilliant idea was not to increase in USA. The most vocal Sony crowd on Twitter is silent or defend this move.
They're doing it because there are shortages and will be for a while and quite frankly they can, because the limited supplies in the countries listed will easily sell them out. but bad will from consumers is not something Sony should be flirting with right now. Crazy competition and the economic downturn make this not a great thing to do right now. I already have a PS5 myself and Sony hasn't in any way sold me on next gen yet.The brilliant idea was not to increase in USA. The most vocal Sony crowd on Twitter is silent or defend this move.
The worst for me is stuff like spider man remaster hidden under mm only. I want physical disc!!!And to think Sony's gaming division has been banking record high profits past few years.
- $70 games
- $10 next gen upgrades
- PS Now (full feature set including PC streaming) is now a forced bundle within PS Premium, instead of previously where you can buy PS+ and PS Now separately
- Forcing PS5 gamers to buy Spiderman MM to get Spiderman Remastered. The news Spiderman Remastered would be a separate download soon after was scrapped
- High PC port prices or old games
Add: PS5 consoles increasing in price about 10% in many regions
Anything I miss?
A lot of the prices that have gone up are due to supply chain issues that have not affected electronics since the chip shortage. I see electronics go on sale all the time. Grocery stores have seen some items increase in prices but not all because not everyone is suffering from the same trucker shortages or other supply chain issues. Many things have gone up, but many things have stayed the same. I dont think the price of bananas, yogurt and chicken have gone up in 20 years.
I'm scoping out new microwaves. Same prices as the first one I bought long time ago. Low end models $100, mid tier $150, good ones $200.
Theyve only done it in the countries because they know most of Europe will buy PS no matter what. Only the UK is somewhat of a battleground in that region.

i have diabetes and im underweight cuz of it, thanks for cheer up =)The defenses being made are like someone who has diabetes defending themselves eating a double chocolate layer cake.
GPU prices are in free fall.
Are you seriously telling me a business isn't going to adjust its prices if everything they buy to make that console goes up? Transport is up, so is inflation and the yen is dropping.Yes. But fuel/milk etc. are sold directly to consumer without additional money being made from consumer. That's why it is no-brainer to increase price of your product when you feel that you need to spend more money to make your stuff.
But consoles? Please...Sony is taking 30% cut from every transaction on their platform. They are charging cross-play fees. That's why Microsoft and Sony were always willing to sell their consoles at a loss. Because they knew that they will make that money by selling first/third-party games and other content. So what changed suddenly? PS5 was selling at a profit from August 2021. So Sony basically jacked up price of console so they keep that profitability of a hardware instead of taking a hit but still make huge amount of money on software.
So yeah. Not remotely comparable
Forgetting about the actual price increase, that blog post is so incredibly out of touch. Just a diatribe. Week social game.
The price is the same in the United States. So, what exactly is the issue here?
i bet u all read just title and made assumptions, euro is currently weaker than US dollar, not hard to google ^^
Fair enough. Not sure what part of the world you're in but where I'm at EVERYTHING has gone up.Many things have gone up, but many things have stayed the same. I dont think the price of bananas, yogurt and chicken have gone up in 20 years.

Video games are a luxury not a necessity.10% increase, wow.
All good if wages where to get 10% higher :/ ...![]()
At least someone gets it.![]()
Yea, because no one else outside of America matters, right?
Why do you think they are losing money if sony could be? They both had very different design goals.Again, is MS enjoying much better margins / profitability in their XSX designs or just better at bearing the cost per unit?
microsoft should have a sale this week on the series x for 450 to really hammer it home. I also want a themed console bundle from themExactly. I hope Microsoft keeps eating the cost.
Why is this on a gaming board? They are a software company and have layoffs all the time. We dont know if this even impacts games directly.1800 people being layed off in one go (with a further 200 since then) isn't a mass layoff? Imagine sitting in a room of 2000 people who have all been fired and then saying "guys, this isn't a mass layoff, love Microsoft".
What are you smoking?
