I don't get people who put Crusade above Raiders.

That movie is a joke, only redeemed by how (mostly) bad Skull was.

I wish I could erase the stupidity (and awful FX) of the German plane passing their car in the tunnel, among other things in that movie. Didn't care much for the Indy jr - Sr relation in the movie either I'm afraid.

Crusade was made as like an action-comedy. They were really popular at the time. It's a pretty ridiculous and pulpy movie, even compared to Temple. Sr. takes a plane down with his umbrella, for god's sake. Let my armies be the rocks and the trees and the birds in the sky. Sallah and Brody (who, if you recall, wasn't a doofus in Raiders, is kind of a doofus here) ham it up. Indy defeats a tank with a rock.

But it's fun. It's the Return of the Jedi of the Indy movies. Almost fan service. But I love it.

Also, the Temple hate hurts my soul. I think people hate on it because it's dark, but it's also has the silliest stuff in it, so there's this weird contrast tonally from the beginning of the film towards the middle. But I feel like the tone shifts really subtly and then back to home base. Temple still has my favorite opening of any film, ever. Those first 20 minutes are awesome. Spielburg really knows how to start a movie.
