Resident Evil 5 recently received a new ESRB rating for the Xbox Series X and S, sparking rumors that Capcom might be planning to release an upgraded version of the game for current-generation consoles. This rating follows a similar one for Resident Evil 6, further fueling speculation. While Capcom hasn’t officially confirmed any plans, its history of updating older Resident Evil games for modern hardware suggests this could be a possibility.​

This new rating is similar to the recent one given for Resident Evil 6 on Xbox Series consoles. However, Capcom has not yet made an official announcement.

Resident Evil 5 and 6 currently run at 60 FPS on consoles. The upcoming upgrade may include an enhancement to 4K resolution and possibly support for 120 FPS on current-generation consoles, although nothing has been confirmed at this time.​

I "didn't get" RE4. The controls were just so terrible I sucked ass at it and could never get any fun out of it. I think I bought this on 3 different platforms over the years trying to get it and never got there.

RE5 was great though. I get it being an action game bummed a lot of RE fans out, but it clicked for me really nicely. I'd love to see a new version with a modern presentation. Who's ready to dup some rotten eggs?

Might just be a 4k remaster of the original game. Perhaps with a 120fps mode. The remaster on PS4 and Xbox One is 1080p/60fps so there’s room to make improvements for current gen. But who knows, maybe they’re doing a full remake like the others.

I personally hope they will not care at all and just go all in but I can see them doing some changes. A possible one would be to make Sheva the main character and ditch the Coop. Ideally though, as I hate RE5s story and where is lead everything to, they do a complete rewrite. Think the fact that a white dude was shooting up masses of Africans was not even close to being RE5s biggest problem.

Never "got" re4 either.

I've just been thrashing this game. One run on Amateur, one again on Veteran and now on Professional. Got about half the guns maxed out for unlimited ammo which makes it even more fun. My favourite of the RE series.

If they actually remaster or remake the game, i really hope they expand Mercenaries mode, unlock the enemy count, killing 150 enemies in a single streak is so hype but it gets old after a few years. Let me customize a loadout, choose enemy spawns, increase the timer/remove it entirely. They could do so much with Mercenaries.

First: ditching the coop hurts the original idea, and since REmake 3 changed stuff and they got some whips on their backs, they probably learned the lesson that taking things off is no option

Second: changing to Sheva as main character hurts also, since she is not used anywhere else in the franchise. I can see her as more prevalent thou. Maybe having the start of the game as she instead of Chris, or even a "Separate Ways" thing for her

Also, remember that the RE games are Japan made. Of course there's things here and there, like the Devil May Cry 5 censorship, but they don't relate much with woke talk. If they comply with it, I can see turning the a flop

FWIW Looks like RE5 is $5 on both the Playstation and Xbox stores. (PS4 and Xbox one respectively.)

Same with the recent RE2/3/7 PS5 releases. I'd argue the PS4 versions of those games are more 'valuable' than the PS5 versions because they can play on two different systems and get free next-gen updates.

Chris was solo, it had zombies, you teamed up with Jill at one point, it focused more on horror, Sheva had a smaller supportive role, and Chris had a 1 on 1 fight with Wesker in the finale.
