Does anyone how much key talent that has left Retro since Metroid Prime 1? I know that a couple of good ones left after Prime 1. (including famous id level designer zoid) I also know that several talented people left after Prime 2. Does anyone have a clue what kind of people that have left since the first 2 games? Should we be worried about the third game?

It's obvious that Prime 2 missed zoid's level designing though.
This thread was over before it began.

Zoid was a Senior ENGINEER, not a Designer in any aspect. :lol

I don't get the hate for Prime 2. I agree it wasn't as good as the first, but no other game in history is either. :)

I thought the dark world looked great, especially the light bubbles. The environments in both worlds were more organic and natural (no snow area next to a lava area etc). And the story was great - The MP part of the plot was underdone, but the story of the Luminoth and Ing was well thought out and written. And there were some nice details - eg, seeing the dead Federation Troops and their ship brought back memories of the dead guy outside Kraid's lair.

I'm with you. I'm surprised at all the hate for the dark world. Am I the only one who never got tired of herding enemies to the light beacons, then hitting the beacon with some light beam shots and watching the enemies burn in agony?

People, we (and by 'we' I mean 'all of us,' not.... you know) need to stop arguing about MP2.

The gameplay was a step up. The graphics were a step up. The bosses were two steps up. And the art design was absolute, undeniable shit.

It can ruin games for some people. Move on.

As for MP3, Retro seem to be onto something bigger than both previous MPs. Honestly, I'm not really hyped up for it, so that when I do get around playing it my penis will increase a few centimetres.

MP2 didnt have shitty art.

and who the **** doesnt enjoy a game because of shitty art? thats like the dumbest reason to not play a game.

You are joking right...your avatar is Ken from street fighter. Are you saying Street Fighter 1 is greater than 2? Street Fighter 2 is greater than super street Fighter 2? Street fighter F****** 3rd Strike isn't better than 2?

I think you misinterpreted what he said. He's saying no other game in history is as good as Metroid Prime, not that none of them are as good as the ones that came before.

This is the key point and i agree with you 100%

I have lots of problems with prime 2 (tedious boss fights, ammo, level design, segmented structure, more linear, dark world) BUT, all those problems only exist in comparison to the pure perfection that was on display in the first game...

Yeah pretty much. =/

Well Metroid games, especially the Prime series, is based a lot on atmosphere. Art direction does factor quite a bit into that. I didn't like Prime 2 because I just felt like I was visiting the same areas again and again. They all seemed drab and similar. And I just really really hate the dark world mechanics. Didn't like it Zelda: LttP, don't like it now.
