Rise of the Ronin coming to Steam on March 11th

Is that a grab from the Pro patch?

It doesn't look anywhere near that bad on base PS5. The game is honestly quite gorgeous on a base PS5, especially w/ ray tracing on. The lighting and environments are truly stunning at times. I used photo mode big time and I never use photo mode.

Man, I hope this game runs well enough and doesn't get dog piled due to tech issues.

It's such a good game, a solid PC version could really get this game the audience it deserves.
I understand that, but every bad running version deserves the dog-piling until they stop releasing them in that state.

They'd always be better off to delay the game and not destroy their launch sale momentum. Fixing it later just means you'll get less people buying it over time, and more of those people buying it on sale.

I know, that's why I said I hope it runs well enough, because if it doesn't it's going to get dog piled.

Seems Tsushima is going on sale on PC across many sites...some strategic timing right there.
Seems the combat is much better in Ronin, might actually pick it up though I absolutely disliked Wulong....(I do like NiOh1/2 a lot, however)

For me personally nothing beats Sekiro, that combat was absolute bliss.

Masaru Yamamura did fantastic job both with Sekiro and Armored Core VI.
Hmmm
I am playing through Armore Core now, it's pretty neat.
Sekiro I understand why people might like it, but for some reason I really didn't, which is super rare for me as I love painfully difficult souls games.
I think what got me in Sekiro is how repetitive and one-note the combat was, lots of parrying, special parry, riposte - game just had you play one way and one way only.
Also it relied a bit too heavily on needing to memorize boss moves, rarely did it feel like you can just approach a new tough enemy and figure things out as you went along.

I saw some Rise of Ronin videos, can't decide on it vs. ghost of tsushima and now there is the new Assassin's game....
For me combat is king but I'm not sure how much I like the idea of fighting only humanoid enemies (true across all these games I supppose).

Two hours in, the complaints about this being a poor port are overstated. First off, the PS5 version is already super demanding, so the PC version being demanding as well doesn't make it a poor port, it just means the game wasn't well optimized to begin with and they did what they could with what they had.

Ultra settings/4k/DLSS Quality/RT ON and I've had a completely smooth as butter, locked 60 fps experience. I could easily see your average computer dropping down to high settings and a change here or there and having an equally smooth experience. I don't know all of the reviews refused to enable DLSS. DLSS quality at 4k looks better than native, ffs, and it runs better.

Anyway, anyone on the fence should give it a go. It's not a looker, but it's pretty enough, and it has better combat and gameplay than GoT or the upcoming AC: Shadows, so if you are looking for some nice samurai type combat, this is the game to play. It's also only $50 and can be had for even less at the usual suspects.

Sekiro is a perfect game, I don't think it will ever be beaten.

What plays closer to Tenchu? This (Rise of the Ronin) or GoT?

I've played a bit of GoT on PS4 a few years ago, it felt very ubisoft open world and didn't dig it at the time. Now that they're both on Steam, I'm looking

Steam says I've already played 3 hours but I'm pretty sure nearly 2 of those were in the character creator alone. But yeah I completed the prologue and I'm digging it so far. Prologue boss kicked my ass for a bit (playing on hard) but I got a hang of the combat mechanics now. It's been a while since I played a Team Ninja game so I nearly forgot how unforgiving their games can be lol

As for performance: absolutely flawless 60fps @ Ultra so far, but again I only completed the prologue.

I thought this game was baby souls going by the first section. Then Blue death appeared. Now I am alone and getting pwned. Thank goodness. I'm liking this a lot.

Please also share your rigs, otherwise it's hard to set expectations :)

Yeah the character creator is excellent.

I really enjoyed it this game to be honest, the combat is an absolute blast and the world is fun to explore. What I didn't like is having a mute protagonist, it was quite immersion breaking in many parts of the gam, for me at least. But its a solid game and I will probably get it again on sale on pc in the near future

Well.

All the negative reviews are about performance issues.

edit: Steam only lists people that have bought the game through Steam for the "Overall Reviews" (352) the other reviews are from people buying it elsewhere, so it's worse than Mixed.

It’s from the DF video on the base ps5 version

People too busy crying that their 4090+ can't run max settings at 120 FPS when 60 FPS is more then fine. Don't know why they expected the game to be optimized when they saw the warning sign of it being a 150 GB download.
