If Sony had The Punisher, I could see you saying that, but Spider-Man? Furthermore, meh Sony Spider-Man games are okay but nothing compared to real Rocksteady Batman. Nothing....but perhaps you meant Wolverine. Better than Spider-Kid but still not quite 1 to 1. True 1:1 would be like Punisher or Tony Stark and even they are simply shadows of the one true man.

Yeah, maybe so. To me it kind of reminds me of Team Ninja during the Japanese Hamburger phase. Still a big question mark on if the new studio can actually get everything together with the old leads. New studios are always a huge risk. And a big question mark on if Rocksteady can eventually rebound. Personally, I didn't think Suicide Squad looked that bad, and they are doing the safest thing possible so maybe they'll pull it off and get a few years to get their mojo back and then pivot into their own thing. Hopefully they both pull it off.

That said I won't even buy the game to begin with. You're the one who asked why people thought the developer and/or game was woke. Writing is just one part of it.

But sure, it makes some sense the studio that made most of the games, even with some devs gone, is making the next one too, even after the Suicide Squad dud. Getting back to what worked etc...

Batman didn't work with a new studio either given Gotham Knights anyway.

People like making a big deal of devs leaving a studio but that happens constantly, it was also said when Retro Studios leads moved on to form Armature (which hasn't done any equally great original work yet, Recore being the closest they ever got) but Metroid Prime 3 still turned out ace even if it's not people's most favorite in the trilogy, as did the Prime Remaster and their Donkey Kong games too, so hopes are actually high for Metroid Prime 4 as well now that they're back to working on that instead of a different studio doing it. Maybe Rocksteady can bounce back too.

The difference being RETRO Studios works under Nintendo and Nintendo is known to highly value employee retention and knowledge transferring between their devs. This is why RETRO can maintain quality games despite having lost some staff. Rocksteady, and most western development studios don't seem to understand how important this is, especially with their obsession with contract workers.

SBI didn't do shit on the game, they were brought on in the last few months to write NPC barks and logs and shit. They weren't even involved in the game when any story writing or character design took place.

They aren't really Rocksteady anymore though, are they?

All the original Rocksteady leads and directors led the development of Suicide Squad from inception up until debugging phase. So essentially, Suicide Squad is as much of a genuine Rocksteady game as the Arkham trilogy, which makes the end result all the more disappointing.

But maybe now that their leaders are gone - they've formed a new studio, currently working on a new IP for Xbox Game Studios - the remaining staff at Rocksteady can be restructured in such a way that they'd be able to deliver a worthy Batman game.

I hope so.
