I personally loved it. I felt they improved the controls and it was a shame that The Coalition went back to the original controls.

I see, such a shame that it isn't in the collection then. I might have to emulate to play it, I don't have an Xbox.

Rumor for no PvP is because they want to go all in with Gears E-Day and don't want to split the fanbase. So it's understandable even if it sucks.

4 was my least favorite mainline game, but it had some incredible segments. I remember the entire mansion section was awesome.

It’s still Gears, there are no bad games (imho) but 4 is the worst for me as well even if some segments are cool. Just meeting up with Marcus was awesome. And I liked the final area when they brought back the ”regular” locusts, or not really locusts but better than the droids. The droids in general were a bad idea, and the tower defense mechanic, felt like a different game.

How’s Judgement? Never played that. Worth powering up the Series X to go through it?

If you don't like the tower defense sections, you probably won't like Judgement. It uses those quite a bit. Although they are shorter in duration than in the other games.
I loved Judgement. I liked the characters and the cropped mission design. That's why it was the best looking Gears game on 360. Much smaller play areas allowed them to increase the detail levels. I never played it on 360, so my only exposure to it was at 60fps with FPS Boost. It might have been more of a chore on its original platform.

Trilogy is some of the finest single player gaming ever. others are not made by epic and it shows.
worse characters, turret sections, diversity and open world in 5, just worse action with worse pacing. 4 and 5 are okish games but bad gears. Judgement is just meh. I only played it once

edit: I am at a loss. Never in my life I thought someone would say that 4 and 5 is better than trilogy. I don't know what to do in this situation. The trilogy is untouchable. I was not programmed to defend it. There was never any need lol
