(Rumor) Returnal on PC has sold 162k lifetime

That port could still use some love, and I would pay Housemarque/Climax money to make it run on Steam Deck with a decent framerate. It's clearly possible.

One dumb thing they did: local settings are cloud-synced so you have to tweak it every time you play on a different machine.

Stats

Copies sold:
162k (107.7k - 216.3k)
Gross revenue:
$7.7m ($5.1m - $10.2m)
Outstanding wishlists:
Players total:

278.8k
Owners:
317.3k

Why are there almost 2x as many owners?

Take with a grain of salt because is coming from a source at Icon Era. They did show the first Returnal port to pc leak but yesterday news about Halo coming to PS5 was wrong.

The "owners" figure (317k) should be the one to look at then, right?
That would be the total amour of keys redeemed on Steam. Not including Epic numbers, but at most 5% would come from them.

Mind you it’s still as estimate, but a pretty good one looking at their methodology and history. Still not 100% perfect for everything, but interesting in a lot of cases. Most recently I recall the Manor Lords estimate was off by only a few percent when numbers were officially announced.

What is with this recent string of icon-era 'sourced' threads.

Hold yourselves to a better standard, folks.
afraid of broadening your limited horizons ?
You know there is also tons of cool discords and other places that discuss games?
There was a time users were banned for bullshit, so of course they created their own forums lol. what's so strange?
Bryan got banned for making fun of obvious xbots. You probably remember....

If anything, the number seems high with CCU of not even 7k....
So no. He is not bulshitting.

Amazing game though
He is bulshitting on two levels. Firstly he is pretending to leak the numbers when he just cribbed them off gamalytic (while looking at the wrong number no less), and secondly trying to push it off as definitive numbers when he stole the info off an estimate website.

The worst kind of fake “insider”, took me all of three seconds to find out where he got those figures from.

Doesn't change a fact that returnal didn't sell almost anything on pc. if 6.8k ccu is not telling, then I don't know what is

No, it doesn’t change the fact that the game didn’t sell well. It does prove the dude is a bullshitter though.

Even even remotely close those are depressing numbers for what is one of the very few great first party Sony games of this generation

the game didn't sell gangbusters on ps5 either. it's unfortunate, but bad sales won't stop you from enjoying it.

The guy has a major bone up his ass over Sony's PC ports. Anything he says relating to Sony and PC shouldn't even be taken with a grain of salt, it should be taken as a complete fabrication.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

Come on bro, this has absolutely nothing to do with 'broadening your horizons', lol.

It's just a flat out biased, untrustworthy 'source'.

I do find it hilarious that no matter what Sony puts out on PC, it sells like dogshit. Uncharted and Spiderman underperformed? Ok, no one cares about action adventure games on PC. TLOU underperformed. Ok, survival horror genre is pretty big on PC, no? I guess not. Concord would be huge because well they like hero shooters. Nope. Surely, a rouge like shooter would be big since that genre literally was made popular on steam. a Big NOPE.

GoT is literally their best single player game at 78k concurrent users. Starfield was said to have underperformed and it topped 250k users iirc.

I think its time sony just stop pandering to this audience. they dont want to fuck you man. go dance with the one who brought you. 4 years of Nixxes. Imagine how many PS4 and PS3 games they couldve ported to PS5 in that time. Bloodborne, DriveClub, SOTC, Motorstorm, KZ, Resistance, The Order.

I love how in a world where countless games coming out of nowhere end up selling in the millions, with concurrent users setting in the hundreds of thousands, these rabid fanboys keep blaming Steam for (essentially) not having a customer base, rather than accepting that their hot shit is probably not such in a high demand as they expected to be.

Late ports sold years later at full price (and occasionally ridden with performance issues, too) are not going to break any records.
Sony needs to accept it and adjust accordingly.

Yeah it’s just a shame when great games sell poorly. That said I get the feeling it was a pretty cost effective game to make, without a huge budget.

And I suppose you have numbers to back up all this? Or do you source them from the same place you source your 60fps GOW on the PS4 Pro?

Yo, what the fuck is up with Icon Era? It’s like a bunch of GAF Sony fanboy rejects have banded together and made a forum.
There are hundreds millions of Sony fans in the world!
They dominate on any forum by default! They can't not dominate!

People complaining about Sony doing ports, remakes, remasters, no new IPs, too much GaaS, "too much Horizon" while also ignoring one of their best playing games. Go figure.

These people aren't rooting for Playstation's success on PC.

Was really excited to play this and still am. But you want me to pay 60$ for a game 2 years after release? Nah. I would have paid 40, or even the 60 if it was a day one release but because of your audacity i will only pay 20 now. Whenever that might be. 5 more years? Sure i'll wait.
