SEGA Is Reportedly Turning Sonic the Hedgehog Into a VTuber, Wants To Open Up Theme Park

According to SEGA art director Kazuyuki Hoshino, Team Sonic is reportedly working on turning Sonic the Hedgehog into a VTuber for streaming.

SEGA art director Kazuyuki Hoshino has reportedly stated that the team is working to turn Sonic the Hedgehog into a VTuber. This will come as part of a new broadcast project. Hoshino also stated that the team’s next goal is to open up a Sonic theme park, due to the success of the recent Sonic the Hedgehog movie. [Thanks, Ryokutya2089!]

The information comes from Ryokutya2089, who has frequently been the first to post key information from physical publications such as Famitsu and Weekly Shonen Jump. In this case, it comes from two statements from Sonic the Hedgehog producer Takashi Iizuka and art director Kazuyuki Hoshino.

The specific source of these statements is unknown. However, they likely come from Famitsu’s upcoming Sonic 30th Anniversary column, which also features interviews with the two men. The column, which previewed on Famitsu’s official website, will be available on Famitsu’s July 8, 2021 Edition. It releases on June 24, 2021. In it, Hoshino states that the team is working on a project to turn Sonic into a VTuber as part of a new streaming program. He hopes that fans will enjoy the new opportunity to “communicate with Sonic in real-time.”

guys i tought we were past this already, the Sonic fandom isn't that bad, if you think the sonic fandom was weird then you guys don't even know the Pokemon fandom, and i don't mean just the furbait pokemon, i also mean the humans, the cool dragon pokemon, the cutesy ones like pikachu they all have a lot of porn, it's sad that intentionally bad OC's by memers, a youtube video wich according to the guy behind it, was joke anyways, and weird fetish art, that like with the porn, can easily be found just as if not even more easily in franchises like Mario (Bowser, Yoshi and Donkey Kong being the primary victims, maybe some more obscure villains or enemies) & Pokemon (need to repeat myself?) than Sonic.

besides what about the normal fans or the talented fans that are actually able to make good stuff, fangames (and unlike Nintendo, SEGA doesn't take them down), fanmusic & remixes, genuinly good OC's and fanfics (under the mountains of intentionally bad oc's and stuff made by kids, there's some genuinly good stuff to be found), genuinly good Sonictubers (LS Mark/Splasdash, Chaomix, Cybershell), and more, hell the people behind Sonic Mania, need to remind you are Sonic fans. if anything the Mania and IDW team should represent the current fanbase more.
