Anyway, it's not that the original show is sacred, it's that MacFarlane is a hack.

Yeah, again, you need to separate this from Hanna-Barbera.

In fact, I will say McFarlane Enterprises : 2011 :: Hanna-Barbera : 1963.

Even if its just exactly like all his other shows I would totally watch that. Theres a lot of really funny jokes they could do with an adult oriented flintstones.

I'm cautiously optimistic about this. It's not like the '70s and '80s versions of The Flintstones were any good, at all.

As long as he keeps the shock factor to a minimum, he may be able to pull it off.

However, leave it for a night other than Sunday. Four shows from one guy in one night is serious overkill.

The fool, should have rebooted Top Cat. The 2nd greatest troll of all time behind Jerry.
Damn, Hanna Barbera had so many great characters.

Great characters in shit cartoons.

First of all, Hanna-Barbera gave us Tom and Jerry and Droopy, which are indescribably better than anything Seth MacFarlane has ever been involved in. Secondly, even when they started pumping out cheap animation their cartoons still had a strong aesthetic, which is more than I can say of dog poop like Family Guy and all its carbon copies.

As long as he respects the source material and doesn't make it dirty/gross-out for shock value, it will be awesome if only because it's the Flintstones.

I say this is a bad idea unless he manages to reboot the Jetsons and then re-does Flintstones Meets The Jetsons... then I'll watch

Also, I want another movie of Secret Agent Flintstone (or whatever it was called)

Top Cat was good! Hong Kong Phooey was decent enough too. The rest? Yeah, they're shit. Who did Captain Caveman?

The greatest cartoon troll of all time, by the way, is the Pigeon.

You would be incorrect because Hanna-Barbera is way beyond anything that Seth Macfarlane has done.

Please not another fucking terrible cartoon. Flintstones has some decent beats when it it was on, but hana barbara toons has almost always been terrible.

And I don't even like the show. Use to love it though but I don't need FG with Dinos.

Just stick with making AD good and just let the other crap go on until they die off.

Doesn't Hanna Barbera sort of include everything done by Cartoon Network as well?

Todd McFarlane. I do the same thing
I would actually watch a Todd McFarlane Flinstone reboot.

This...why? Family Guy, The Simpsons, American Dad, The Jetsons, all pretty much cover the boorish animated dad with the hot wife and zany kids genre. More prehistoric pop culture analogies won't make this fresh.

I tend to see that as Cartoon Network Studios. Either way, one can make a clear cut-off between the older stuff and the CN stuff.

where's the cutoff then? 2 Stupid Dogs for instance, who would you credit that to?

Oh come on, you guys think he's just going to screw up and ruin everyone's childhood because all his shows right now are pretty much the same type of comedy. I'm sure he knows there's a big difference between his shows and something like the flintstones. Who knows what he can do with the flintstones, unless he's tried something of this type, you don't know if he's good at it or not. It might not be half bad. But who knows, the simple fact that they are considering reviving a classic or producing remakes always come with criticism..

Yeah, I remember liking that Larry and Steve Cartoon Cartoon short he did, and it wasn't raunchy at all. Not like he can't do it.

I'd cut it off at... when CN launched? I dunno. I've never even heard of that show. Basically, I'm referring more to the sort of really old stuff that gets repeated on Boomerang.

edit: I should probably say, anything with Dastardly/Muttley in it is liked by me too.

Fuck you Seth Mecfarlane. Creating your own shit is all well and good but when you go messing with the Flintstones then its personal.

oh, well they've existed the whole time, Dexter/Power Puff all were under the HB name. As far as I understand HB just became CN studios.

I mentioned 2 Stupid Dogs because it was specifically produced before CN was a network (I think) but was part of the same wave of production that included Dexter and others.

I was actually thinking, "wait, didn't Johnny Bravo have the Hanna-Barbera logo at the end?" but I figured I was misremembering. Guess not! But certainly, I'd never besmirch the name of 90s HB/CN/whatever output. Johnny Bravo, Powerpuff Girls, Dexter, all brilliant stuff...

goddammit, now I'm bitter about Family Guy being so fucking popular

The Flintstones have already been mangled multiple times over by Hanna Barbera themselves.

We all love and treasure the early-'60s original, but we conveniently forget that the series was later revived over and over through the '70s and '80s, in different, awful forms. Hell, even the tail-end of the original series was bullshit and nothing like the early episodes. (Much like The Simpsons.)

Don't react like this is some untouched virgin of a series about to be violated.

Is it me or American Dad is miles better than FG or his other shitty series?I can't stand those two but I love AD.

Nope your not wrong, American Dad is really good and his best series.

2 Stupid Dogs was too good. Every ep made me laugh. It even packed adult/sex related jokes but in a really good (subtle?) way not like how Seth Mcfarlane shows do it, can't believe it was CN studios behind them.

It's the one he has the least to do with creatively. Take that as you will.

I can't see how this would interest today's kids. I mean, if you are young enough you will watch anything but the world of the Flinstones would need to be altered somehow to really appeal to the 6-10 crowd. Either that or outstanding writing. I predict a lot of Water Buffalo Lodge and Great Gazoo episodes.

Favourite show from my childhood, it was brilliant!

Anyway, I have a feeling he could pleasantly surprise us with this one... (I don't have much/any reasoning behind that statement, I just do)
