Post some music from your home town, state, or country. Obscure, famous, whatevs. Post at least basic descriptions along with your links!

Portland, Oregon :

Illmaculate : Hip hop. His real name is Greg, which I find funny.
Magic Johnson : Spazzy spanish dance punk. (I don't think they live in Portland anymore, tho.)
Copy : Electronic. No vocals, just sounds.
Adelit@s : Mexican anarchist punk. Loooove them.

Hollow talk and a hollow gain
Thoughts set out for the root of pain
Never said it was good, never said it was near
shadow rises when you are here

And then you cut
You cut it up
And everything goes back to the beginning

Silence seazes a cluttered room
Light is shed not a breath too soon
Darkness rises and all you do
Is tighten your jaw and cross the room

Spacial movements are born of light
Shadow scatter without a fight
It has never been bad there has always been truth
Muted wisper the things you move

And then you cut
You cut it up
And everything goes back to the beginning

Ålesund and the surrounding area, Norway:

Bjørn Johan Muri: Yes Man. Pretty good pop song.
The Margarets: Rubber Rubbish. Old-school pop song, was very popular a few years ago.
Hilde Marie Kjersem: Fantasy and Marie Antoinette. I don't really know her music, but she's quite popular. I'll hear her in a concert in a couple of weeks.
Jenny Langlo: Hallelujah. From her winning performance in the Idol competition a couple of years ago. Great voice!
Side Brok: 1, 2, 3 fyre, Mann med manera and Rist me raua. Norwegian countryside hillbilly rap, best kind of rap there is :-)
D'Sound: Tattooed on my Mind and Do I Need a Reason. Probably the biggest band to come from around here.
Ketil Strand: showing off his guitars skills. He was my brother's guitar teacher in high school.
How could I forget: The Brazz Brothers: Nothing but D Best and live from Harbakhula.

Boston
These are mostly old, well-known bands. It's probably because I'm an aging, jaded piece of shit, but I don't care for the "scene" these days. This has always undeniably been one of the epicenters for hardcore and metal, though.

American Nightmare - "AM/PM" (heart-on-your-sleeve hardcore)
Bones Brigade - "Skate or Die" (my friend Greg's old punk band)
Cave In - "Juggernaut" (space metal)
Converge - "Homewrecker" (hardcore/metal legends)
Ehnahre - "Part V" (ugliest, most gnarled metal/doom ever)
The Faux - "Synthetic Heart" (spazzy no-wave)
Freezepop - "Bike Thief" (guilty pleasure synth-pop)
Mind Eraser - "Unconscious" (powerviolence)
Neptune - "Grey Shallows" (this band makes all of their instruments out of scrap metal and junk)
Watchmaker - "Conference Call Immolation" (grindcore)

Houston, Texas. Rap music from the Southeast neighborhood called South Park.

beautiful stuff from the netherlands

Rinus, awesome. He's coming to a town near me in april, definitely going to see him

West-Flanders in Belgium is pretty small, so I'm including some stuff from East-Flanders as well

TC Matic - Oh la la First band of Arno, who's a pretty big name in Belgium/France. The riff in this song is amazing.
The Black Heart Rebellion - Avraham They're pretty big in indie circles here now. New album Har Nevo is a mix of post rock, blues, tribal and screamo. And more... You can't really pin these guys down. It's getting rave reviews, I still have to warm up to it.
Absynthe Minded - Envoi
't Hof van Commerce - Stuntman West Flemish rap, famous in Belgium and Netherlands as well I think.
Das Pop - You

Germany

Betontod - Frei wie der Wind (German Punk - or rock, depending on who you ask- music, title is "Free like the wind", the name of the band translates roughly into "cement death") http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hBS8J3kmrQ0

Helge Schneider - Katzenklo (a song about a cat litter box) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QbS9c0ZMRX4
(Helge is a comedian but he also is a very very talented Jazz musician if he wishes :D There were instances when he enters the stage, everyone paid for comedy, instead he sits down at the piano and does freestyle jazz :D)

Texttranslation of the litter box song:

Cat Litter Box x2
Yes, that makes the cat happy
Cat Litter Box x2
Makes the genuine cat happy

*and now everyone, sing!*

Cat Litter Box x2
*Peter, you too!*
Yes, that makes the cat happy
Cat Litter Box x1
*Peter, I can't hear you..*
*yeahhh. that's better*

When you walk into the store
buy something nice for the cat

Cat Litter Box x2
Yes, that makes the cat happy
Cat Litter Box x2
Makes the genuine cat happy

*and Peter, now you alone :P*

(Cat Litter Box x2) *heeey*
(Yes, that makes the cat happy) *makes the cat happy*
(Cat Litter Box x2) *makes the cat happy*
(Makes the genuine cat happy) *makes the cat, cat happy*

A cat wants to eat all the time x2
I give it something, I give it something to eat
It doesn't pay for it
And that's good.

The cat eats the hair from my head
A cat is eating the whole day
For feeling good it wants to eat
I put something in front of it

And it eats it completely

Cat Litter Box x2 *And everyone now*
Yes, that makes the cat happy
Cat Litter Box x2
Makes the genuine cat *heeey*

I probably have other things to contribute, I'm just tired right now and can't think of any :D thread is saved though, I'd love to find some cool music I don't know about in here and the chances are high :)

Tacoma, WA

Seaweed. They actually had an album named after my actual area that I live in, Spanaway (address reads Tacoma, but it's really Spanaway).

Famous bands The Wailers (not the bob marley one) and The Sonics (not the basketball team) also come from Tacoma. Most everything else is Seattle though. A lot of surprises after checking the Wikipedia page on how many bands I've heard or listen to are from Seattle.
