Video suddenly have a more Asian devs talking. I wonder if that has to do with the Tencent deal to get rid of the bloated DEI hires and bring in the real talents.

Whether you like it Ubisoft or not, they do give their games genuinely great support.

With land combat added to this, I'm considering whether it might be worth picking this up and playing with the other half :).

Do we have sales data? I mean, from what I remember the reception was that the core game was fun, but too bare bones (pun intended) for the asking price. If enough content get added, at least it could become a cool get when in promotion.

The innocent idea of doing more with the Black Flag ship combat turned out so horrible in practice.
They just needed to ditch a billion waypoints and escort missions for adding PvE coop modes and maybe a wider persistent universe of multiplayer. Keep it fun and involved with mates for adventures PvE and PvP.

Wasn't there a story of ubi receiving huge tax exemptions from Singapour's government to make the game, and if they did not they had to give everything back ?
Hence they keep sacrificing money and time to it to keep this shattered, decaying mess of a game somewhat alive, as if it was the god emperor on the golden throne.

Guess i will take the opportunity to defend this game alittle. Played through the beta and took a break about a 1-2months ago.
What it is, a naval combat game where the emphasis is your boat, upgrading it, exploring, and battling others if you choose - i think its a great time. Even better if you have friends sailing with you (I didn't).

Can it get repetitive? yea - like alot of grindy games wanting you to search/collect this or that. No exception here- ESPECIALLY in end-game. Getting to end game and focus on upgrading ship and exploring was a joy.
I'm glad they are supporting the game and maybe get to the point where all the Ubi hate doesnt impact it in the future. Maybe end up with something like No Mans sky ended up. Def a way better start - so its possible.

I have no skin in this game and will never buy it but it doesn't actually like a good year 2 of updates. If they back this up with another few years it could become sea of thieves without the cartoony graphics. Only issue is SOT will continue to get better. Would be ideal to have both games pushing eachother on.

Well, until they shut the servers down without creating an offline patch and you lose access to it forever.
It's like 9.95 brand new, if I get a week or two of enjoyment with the other half and never touch it again, I am not going to really grumble.

And maybe the hassle they are getting with the crew will make patch in an offline mode, crew motorfest got a patch :)

I tried the trial, it was pretty fun to be honest. Didn't get too deep into the resource collecting or pvp, but it seems like a fun time blasting other ships in the sea. Will it be worth it now? Also, does the content from Y1 go away in Y2?

I think Skull n Bones was developed by Ubisoft Singapore.
