Did they alter her looks to make her look more masculine? Yes or no? I see subtle differences. I’m it sure if they are intentional or not.

Yes .. there are subtle alterations that make her look more masculine, take it from me if you will, when is about facial esthetics 1 cm is 1 meter.

"AI please make this character slightly more masculine"

The real question is

How many more examples of altering the female actress faces to make her more ugly or/and manly are needed before people finally stop questioning "the devs motives or intentions" ... because we had more than enough, I wish people just at least acknowledge what they are doing, say they dont care and moved on ... it would be much more honest than this fake ignorance or selective blindness.

I'll be honest, it just looks like the right image has zero make up on. That is literally it to me.

She isn't even the face model for Abby and was under worse attack. I think she handled the situation way better than the shaved, respect.
That's because she kept her distance from all the crazys out there but she was still emotionally affected by the crazies much the same

"The actress had already exposed the harassment and death threats she received simply for portraying this character that many condemned, even giving them reasons to threaten her son, who was only 2 years old at the time.

"Every time I went online, it was just death threats and threats of violence," the actress said with tears in her eyes"

"They were threatening my son, you realize? Who was born during all of this. Yes, it was tough," expressed the actress, who learned from all this to keep her distance."

There are some real nutjobs out there who take video games, a medium created for entertainment and enjoyment, way too seriously.

Good for her. People sitting at keyboards calling her ugly and making fun of her hair. Wonder what some of you would do it you had been taking the heat that she has been taking….

Real question, were people making fun of her hair, or the hair (lol) of the in game model?

Just to reiterate, again, real question

Naughty dog always stylize their games.
Its not photoreal.
But its clearly still her just without makeup or the fake eyelashes.
Put makeup and fake eyelashes on the character model and youll basically be at like for like.

Incel tears are more common than incel dollars in their pockets. This is one hell of a way to market your game. At least give her baldness a purpose and add DLC wigs.

I'm "modern audience". Or rather, I enjoy contemporary releases. Don't we all? Been playing games since the early 80s, and since then I've seen the gaming medium evolve in lots of ways. Some things got better and other things didn't. Some even got worse.

People need to get over trying to claim ownership of or project their own meaning into arbitrary adjective nouns, because it's daft. Both sides are just as bad as each other in this regard.

Remind me of that rap the actress from The Acolyte did

Responding like this is always a bad move

I feel sorry for that actress... She's actually beautiful, but those hairstyles they have make her look ugly.

And his behavior leaves a lot to be desired.

so is this whole controversy over this new IP that the main character is female POC? I Understand not liking forced DEI in games like dragon age veilguard but if thats all it is then that's just dumb

I find it more interesting that posters are saying she’s “insulting customers”, but those are the same people who actually… wouldn’t be customers? A small subset at best.
There are people who don't like the character choice, but will still buy the game. Not a good idea to insult those and not a good idea in general if you want more jobs in the future.
I would have prefered Gerald in The Witcher 4, but will still buy it. If the actress would start insulting anyone who would preferably play as Gerald, i wouldn't buy the game at all.

It's more like the image on the left is altered by a thick crust of makeup and over saturated lighting. But overall they're very close I think.

Different times. Back then it was no problem to have a bald female lead or boss girls from time to time. But nowadays they are completely overdoing it and they 90% are not doing it to fit the story. They are pushing an agenda, it almost feels like a checklist and artifical. People are oversaturated and tired of it.

We are at a point where it's hard to not call any new movie or game woke. I have no doubt people would call Alien or Kill Bill woke and hate it if it was released in 2024. And that sucks, because they are great movies.
It's just too much. I wasn't surprised the next Ghos of whatever would have something like her/they/them, i wasn't suprised they booted Gerald and i 100% knew Druckmann would do something like this.

If they would announce a new Duke Nukem i would totally expect them to replace the Duke with a black/asian female with a halfshaved head.

They did a good job with CyberPunk 2077. It felt inclusive without being woke. None of the missions or side quests were about preaching woke propaganda.

Exactly. I would not be happy if I was CDPR.
Exactly, cyberpunk was super diverse, I played a lesbian in it, and it had a really great lengthy love story for vi and Judy, it ticked every diverse tickbox but never felt preachy. The devs or actors didn’t make idiotic statements. It had its own problems ofcourse more to do with lying about the product and it being broken at launch 🤣

I tilt left, but can’t these people for one second put themselves in the other sides shoes?

What would be the response be if completely out of context characters start preaching about the right to bear arms, or they sit down at the family dinner table in a high fantasy game and open the conversation with “so….abortion is murder”

Or if the lead actor for the game said “god hates gays” or “gamers are all baby murderers”. Yes I realise these aren’t the positions of everyone on the right, the opinions of people such as the actress also aren’t the opinion of everyone on the left.

Hell, I think ND have made some poor choices with this design, and I’m left leaning and married, but now the lead star has called me an incel 🤷‍♂️ for daring to critique it. I’ve also despite my critique and knowing it will be ideological, I tend to think ND have the writing chops to pull it off, and was happy to give them a chance. I’m now less inclined to pay for it, it’ll be free on PS+ at some point, or heavily discounted, especially so if it flops hard.

If you can't distinguish a celebrity from an unknown social media user, there's not much to argue about.
So in your mind even if a person has never seen the celebrity, they should be able to distinguish a celebrity from a normie?

You do realize there are ugly celebrities and beautiful normal people, right?

Do you worship these celebrities? Did celebrities bring the gift of fire to man?

I wonder why Ciri is on this

Also, let's vote with our wallets and prove once again the "rare incel victory"

Do people find nose rings attractive? I've been seeing a lot of them lately, and I don't get it.

I don't need a lot of motivation to not purchase a game lately, so yea this will be another one to skip. Not giving money directly to something pushing social politics.

Maybe some people do.. I dont find this actress beautiful at all so over compensating with extravagant makeup and accessories its a thing.. who knows... I wont judge her on this.

now out of spite,

she just ruined this fucking games sales......

like i said in the last thread, some of these people just need to STFU
Eh, TLOU2 fans are probably fine with "haters" being "dunked on." This incident shouldn't cause much (if any) shrink beyond what the leaks/Abby in general did. It might even have the intended effect of inspiring pushback against the pushback.

To your point though, it does put the game under even mote scrutiny, so, if anything negative comes out during production, those flaws will be magnified to the point that they could reach mainstream consciousness. I don't think it's super likely, but it's possible.

On all the “rate my looks”, “how to improve my looks” type subreddits, if the subject has a septum piercing, like 90% of the responses tell them to get rid of the ugly ass nose ring. Even if she’s like “DONT COMMENT ON THE NOSE RING”

IDK. I always thought they were fugly, doubly so now that they are so cliche. I’m convinced the only guys who claim to like them are the “male feminist” types just trying to improve their chances of getting laid.

This will end well, they haven't learned anything from what is happening lately?

Start a war against potential buyers, brilliant.

Good, I now know where I stand more firmly, no more ND games
