I don't keep anything of any value showing in my car. Including loose change. I've seen some crack addicts bust in windows for like a buck's worth of change.

I used to have reoccurring nightmares where I'd get back to my car after a few hours and it would either be gone or broken into and stripped down. I've probably had the same dream 6 or 7 times and it's always the same neighborhood, time of day, and random group of generic hooligans doing it.
Sorry to hear about the break in, theres something very unsettling about having your private property violated like that.

this literally happened to me. stole my change thing with maybe 50 cents worth of Pennies and nickels, did 100 dollars worth of damage to the window in the process

Well, every cloud and that. Hoover up if you can, and be careful with shards of glass on seats, gearbox, and coin/drink holder.

I had a laptop and my priceless CD wallet knicked out of my car about 6 months ago. Not a pleasant experience.

Could have appeared to be a stamp collecting album which could potentially be very valuable.

I know what you mean about things piling up OP. Only time someone broke into my car was in a hospital parking lot. I was there learning that my dad's cancer had progressed to where it couldn't be reasonably treated anymore and he was going to die. Walking out to find someone broke into my car was probably just the worst possible timing for that to happen.
