So much hopium.

Not gonna happen. MBL the Show and Bungie games are exceptions due to having other publishers. Bungie being self publishing and MBL being the publisher for the game on Xbox.
As a live service game thats successful sony would be dumb as shit not to allow it to happen, its clear as day a majority of there live services games are going multi, why else buy bungie

Same. But this is modern-day Sony. I won't be surprised if they do bring it to Xbox in a few months. Hell, they'd probably announce the port at the next PlayStation Showcase.

The brand just feels like it's moved away so much from its core values and doing away with hunger to genuinely compete, so this type of move wouldn't surprise me. That said, the source is complete BS and ironic considering how much they complain about PlayStation, yet they seem to always have PlayStation sources? WTF 🤣
A lot of Xbox users have been programmed not to buy games. I doubt Sony would waste time with it.

I'm still playing Exoprimal. If Xbox gets a cheaper PvE like this I'm interested. I didnt get it on PS5 because I am not paying $80 a year to play online on a system I barely use.

Well, the COD releases still do well on the platform, same with other shooters it'd seem. So they do buy some games, and Helldivers 2 would probably appeal to that camp.

Could also be that MS just pay to put it in Game Pass. Dunno, something just feels a bit weird about the Helldivers 2 situation all around. No sales update, prominent online hype/attention mainly being pushed via Steam, Phil Spencer's stupid complaining about a game he should very well know is a Sony-owned IP, and all of this around the time of MS going more fully 3P. Normally it seems Sony'd be boasting about the game's performance and doing everything to associate such a success with PlayStation but that hasn't happened this time around for whatever reason.

Something seems like it could be orchestrated and there may've always been plans to bring Helldivers 2 to Xbox, maybe alongside a new season update. I won't completely rule it out.

I don't think it's the micro-transaction driven game that would make sense to go multiplatform with especially since exclusives still work in their favor.

Good , would be a smart move to make it truly huge.

It’s a genuine candidate to be a spearhead franchise and everyone should be able to play it.

What is MBL… MLB maybe? And it’s published by Sony… so that’s cap

Your talking about the past, those decisions were mad under Jim Ryan who also deviated from the decisions made in the past before him with Shawn Laden. This new Playstation boss' priorities is making more with less. I'm not saying it's gonna happen but this sort of stuff is the future. In an industry that isn't growing in new users **you have to get new players from somewhere**.

When most multiplatform games end with a 80 to 20 sales ratio between PS5 and Series consoles, it dosent seem Sony would care much when some 3rd party games already skip Xbox for the same reasons. When Sony talks about multiplatform releases they talking about Playstation consoles + PC + Mobile.
It would make more sense if these rumors was about Sony releasing games on Switch, that has a huge playerbase. But thats not where the console warriors come from so you wount see those rumors.

Bought it even though I knew I'd find it boring. And to my surprise (no) I found it boring and played 1h.

Would make sense to bring it on Xbox since the point of online games is to be played as many people as possible. And it can be a part of a deal to come (like Halo on PS etc).

Maybe there would be a possibility if xbox had a bigger userbase but because its so small, I doubt sony have any interest in Porting games to xbox. There's not much to gain there.

Same, i mean sea of thieves is doing well on ps5 pre orders while sony would get 30% of every purchase MS would still get the remaining 70% as a company i doubt sony would be happy about it, it has potential to take players away from other live service games and generate money for the competition and sony cant even refuse, especially with all the EU laws

I mean it's a live service game, the more players and platforms the better, Sony likes money.

Tell that to Valve when it comes to Counterstrike 2 and DOTA 2, or Nintendo when it comes to Splatoon.

More platforms = more players is yet another fallacy in gaming.

That's probably another reason there's a non-zero chance Helldivers 2 does get an Xbox port: if MS are using PS players to siphon for Sea of Thieves (potentially at the expense of other GAAS titles on PS5), Sony would probably want to do the same on Xbox. Sony's problem is, there isn't much to siphon from on the Xbox side for a live-service game that still cost money as a B2P.

Yeah there are Xbox gamers into shooters who still buy them but the number has been dropping off every year. When Sony could've probably been more strict about what things Microsoft could do when bringing games to PlayStation (for example, not allowing MS to force PS5 owners to make a Microsoft email account to play online), they weren't, for whatever reason.

It's not coincidence that all these pushes for "open platforms" just conveniently benefit smaller players regardless if it was their own hubris and bad business decisions that got them there, and punishes dominant players regardless if they became so out of fair competition and just having better business sense. It's some of the worst kind of equity.

say what you will, its only a matter of time.

I really doubt that. Microsoft has an absolute *need* to publish their games on PlayStation. That is a direct result of their failing console business. The need is so great that they are willing to sacrifice actual users in their ecosystem in order to reach the far superior numbers on PlayStation.

None of that is true for PlayStation. There is far less incentive for Sony to publish games on Xbox. I would be shocked if that happened.

Every Xbox is a PlayStation too it seems!

I’m not opposed to this. Why not? I don’t think it will actually happen as it would probably take a decent amount of time to port it but I’d be ok with it.

to be clear i dont WANT competing publishers game on each others platforms, but then i also really dont care where they are at this point.

The only way this happens is if Sony and Nintendo stop making hardware.

What you're failing to understand is the fundamental reason why Microsoft are having to do this at the moment despite still selling their own closed hardware. They made a bet on gamepass expansion/growth which has failed. Because of the not so insignificant amount of money that they've spent on publishers people outside and above Xbox are demanding they recoup some of that cost and the only way for them to do that is to sell their games on platforms that aren't Xbox because they have conditioned their userbase to not purchase games. Let me put it this way, if gamepass was still growing at the rate it did during the first couple of years then there is no world where they start porting games to Sony and Nintendo systems.

Neither Sony or Nintendo are in that predicament or have the same degree of financial pressure due to spending almost 100 billion on publishers/studios. Microsoft created that situation for themselves and the gamepass/acquisition junkies amongst their fanbase perpetuated it.

Phone reception is more important to me than human rights
Look...MS are porting games to Sony and Nintendo for a reason.

It would be very odd to port a game to Xbox...when most Xbox users have been conditioned to Wait For Game Pass.

Unless MS is passing out Game Pass deals to Sony now?

Is this still part of the 'Sony players want Xbox players to help them play HD2" ?
