What a description. Hope it's like Oculus Touch except with the PS buttons to make every PS4 game compatible and 2x come out of the box with PS5 and then you only need to buy the HMD extra for VR 
That way you get traditional games out of the box, motion games a la Wii Sports Resort and Red Steel 2 (but better without problematic tracking) out of the box, and only need the HMD to go full VR then.

Looks like Valve's Knuckles Controllers with the strap. It's not necessarily gonna have the buttons as shown guys it's just a graph.
Either way I hope these are in the PS5 box so then you only need to buy the HMD for VR making VR seem less costly then.

Either way at least they're finally leaving Move/Aim behind, that stuff hold back PSVR so much and people don't even know it until they try something like the Touch in a 360 degree freedom set up.

I've been calling this in other threads: Dualshock 5 will be held akimbo to allow for a single controller to play traditional games and VR games.

I've not been calling this but I've been promoting the idea because it just makes sense and will make VR seem much cheaper and easier to get into when you only need to buy the HMD sepatate while only adding a little bit of cost to the base console unit (though I'm sure they'll be more expensive when you want to buy an extra pair or similar but then your extra can be a cheaper Dual Shock 5). But even outside VR they will be fine and people will finally feel the revelation of not having to have your hands tied together when gaming as weirded out as they might be at first, ha. Plus Wii style games, yay. I certainly didn't expect Sony to go all in with the knuckle style finger tracking stuff though, I was thinking more like the Oculus Touch which is about halfway there. But this doesn't mean they'll bundle it yet, sadly. Plus going all in like this could mean they're even more likely to want you to buy it separately and not close to cost as bundled in things might go for to make the base attractive but with the retail expensive price instead. I guess it all depends on what the base system will be, what price they want to set it at, and how much they want to push VR as the next big thing vs a cool thing you can do if you pay a lot of extra money for it.

I didn't say "it look like it's releasing soon"
I don't think so it's too big of a risk for Sony to make a change like this to the standard controller.

I don't know if this tells us PS5 is VR "focused". But clearly VR will play a key role to the PS5 considering they have one of the best VR headsets on Planet Earth (if you include the software).

I'd have to see it being used. Something this big of a difference could be HORRIBLE depending on the button placements. Imagine playing Call of Duty or Madden on two separate controllers. Do regular people have the dexterity to use 2 controllers independently like this?

When I preordered FF8 for PS1 back in the day, I got Ascii Grip either as a free bonus or at a cheaper price (cant' remember).
Back then it was sold as the perfect controller for RPGs because you can play and write notes at the same time
It was a horrible controller.
Today a controller like this could be fitting for porn VR games though

I mean, for regular games it's just the same as using one controller, but you can rest you hands in any position rather than tied together. I don't think the arrangement we see there is how the final thing will be, that'd certainly be a bit weird and take getting used to. No current PC VR controller even is that weirdly arranged even without trying to conform to PS standards. But otherwise, like, what's the difference in dexterity requirements between using the Switch joycons attached in the grip and the joycons separate for the same classically controlled games? It's the exact same in usability except split is actually more comfortable outside the joycons being too small for some people which this thing won't have as a problem given both its implied size (if the central thing resembles an analog stick in surface area) and strap.
Guys, single hand controller doesn't mean you'll only ever use one at a time to think it will have to be paired with something different or nothing at all or something, it would likely be used in a matched pair.

Can I get excited about VR now? It's like I don't want it to go away, but I'm not driven at all to purchase a headset. For those who do own a VR headset Is a better controller a big deal for VR? I think the games are more important. Other than beat saber, I don't know of any games I'd wanna play.

Huh? The remote was a mess, no form for your hand to comfortably hug just to make it look like a conventional remote, less threatening and alien or something, I dunno what they were thinking. Modern VR controllers are way better designed and this seems to follow their example and be comfortable to hold. Inputs on the top not withstanding yet and liable to change, not that Wiimote had better arrangement.

It improves the compatible games very much, adding an immersion factor that you would not appreciate with DS controller. Once you get used to them it feels very natural,. Shooters are massively better, in VR I would never play them with a DS.

Better controllers allow better gameplay systems. Yes you can get excited if you want but the cost might be prohibitive unless you already have a good PC and consider it an investment similar to buying a great racing wheel or HOTAS (but clearly with a much larger range of experiences it can improve rather than mostly one genre like each of these devices do). Impeccable independent hand tracking compared to DualShock/Move/Aim style controllers means it's both far more intuitive to work with and allows greater detail to the systems with less abstraction, just have shit work how you expect them to naturally.
Examples of gameplay systems, keep in mind most are low budget stuff, imagine when the AAA developers get into the game if the next gen consoles really get in on the deal making it more widespread.
I think even without playing them yourself, if you compare some of these with videos of people playing some of PSVR's best like Firewall you can see how much more involving and true to life interactions can be in these and can notice there's a far larger layer of abstraction and compensating for the tracking deficiencies with PSVR (like how static people are with having to face the front camera at all times which means for example you can't really turn around and shoot people at the back so you make do with some quick/turn option on the controllers) or how the aim controller held doesn't actually fully reflect the in game gun in 1:1 tracking (so you don't look down the iron sights as intuitively as in real life, not to mention it makes your 2nd hand unusable beyond digital inputs so you can't do things like pick up a grenade from your chest to remove its pin and throw it, or throw one back to enemies). I'd compare it to how you had to conform to and compensate for the tracking deficiencies in Wii Sports Resort or Red Steel 2 and what they expected rather than what was natural, perhaps to a lesser extent but equally important if not more so given they try to mimic things more closely while Resort was still simple good fun in the end.

If I can use this on pc for FPS I'll buy it in a heartbeat. Long has been my dream of an analog stick for movement and mouse for aiming.

Well if you had left it on "I highly disagree" without editing to add the "you can't make this shit up" jerk comment that would have been nice. I think you're in the minority if you really like the form factor and limited (and awkwardly placed outside A & B) inputs of the Wiimote compared to (after actually trying them) modern motion controllers that also give you an analog stick or trackpad to play around with alongside both hands having the same motion capabilities rather than gimping the one with the analog stick in that respect as if it has to be a choice between motion and having enough buttons and sticks.
