And I'm tired of acting like they are good.

The constant connections issues still have yet to be fixed.

Granted they sound good and the tuning withing the ps5 is a nice touch. Mic works well. But Holy hell having them disconnect almost every day in a game and failing to reconnect is pissing me the fuck off.

Should I just pull the trigger on the maxwell?

I had zero connection problem between pc and ps5 (like perfection) but they sound like semi-crap tbh, or at the very least i was expecting MUCH more, especially in terms of clear voices that should be the best thing about the tech, they arguably sound worse than my ex sony platinum...battery life is much better tho.

Mine are decent, they lack a little bass, but thats expected for planer magnetics.
BUT they have developed a little metallic clicking noise that i can hear on quieter games. v annoying.

I love the design

I love the sound quality

I love the battery time

I hate this shit:

The only problem i have with dongle is how delicate and flimsy it feels, i feel like i can snap that thing in half everytime i put in the usb port of my pc...

No disconnect issues but other problem - these seal too well and I hear my own heartbeat - bloodblow.
Same with maxwells (+heavy)
Planars must have very good seal in order for bass to sound good and I don't think my head is compatible with this.
I returned to pulse 3d. Never such an issue. Added wicked cushions to them. Not the biggest fan but original cushions disintegrated.

I had this problem at the begininning but you get used to.

I have the regular Pule 3D ones, not the elite, and the earmuffs start hurting my ears after half an hour or so. They're not very comfortable.

No issue with things like connectivity loss tho.
Update to wicked cushions. They make earpads for pulse 3d

I've tried. I've bought pulse elite 2 times... and maxwell 2 times... returned both times before 2 weeks. Once I was too late and sold the elites.
I think my head is too fat

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

Oh shit, had no idea they could be replaced. Will look into this now, thanks.

edit: it looks like they go over the muffs, not replace. Good enough.

Represent.

Represent(ative) of bad opinions
I agree they suck. But more because of sound quality.

Not nearly enough bass, not loud enough, not enough, high frequencies sound bad. Pale in comparison to music/movie centric headsets

The worst pair of headphones I ever had the displeasure of wearing. The form factor is terrible, it's super lackluster in terms of head adjustments, the audio quality is super poor and the dongle taking up a USB slot is dumb as hell. Very uncomfortable.

Unbelievably bad product.

huh, interesting.

I'm looking at my Pulse 3D and I can't fathom how to take these muffs off without breaking it, will look up some YT tutorials.
They have a video. The earpads come with plastic ring that just clips on there.
It's all clips. no glue involved. It's like sony made it all replaceable but forgot to be selling the replacements lol

Pulse buds work great for me with the Portal, but I get disconnection issues using them with the PSVR2.
I'd need to get back to the PSVR2 to know if it's been fixed or not yet.

Yeah roll with the Maxwell especially if you like the sound of the Elites it's a step up
500 grams.
Kinda tight and sealing.
I even tried them with dekoni sheepskin and it did nothin but add more weight.
Imo 300-350 grams is top a headset should be.

My ideal headphone would be newly released Koss porta pro wireless 2.0.... if ps5 had bluetootth

The regular pulse 3ds are kind of crap imo. You'd only get the elites for the sound quality - although out of the box they had too much treble and not enough bass (EQ fixes 90% of this)

If you want headphones imo skip these, the earbuds have much higher sound quality but have other design issues and bad battery life. I was interested in the pulse elites due to being planar magnetic and the lossless link but right now there are too many qc and design issues to recommend them.

So I'm not the only one that had them randomly disconnect. I am 0 for 3 with Sony headsets this generation.

I'll definitely be going 3rd party next time.

Yes you should. Don’t settle for anything less. I used the Sony Inzone H7 for a couple of weeks and all of a sudden they stopped working. I can still connect them to my phone through bluetooth, but there’s no sound when they’re connected to ps5 or pc. Luckily, my (Xbox version) Maxwells work with ps5 as well. Hearing about issues with the pulse elite doesn’t surprise me. I’ll never buy another Sony branded headset again.

Elites are terrible in my opinion, keep getting disconnected. Go for the Maxwells if you want a great gaming headset, it’s a step up in every way.
One thing that's a step up with maxwells is extreme weight, less details and no ps5 OS integration for sure....
But yeah. The sound is good

I think I got disconnected once or twice early on, then it was resolved after a patch. Smooth sailing after that and I really like their quality and features for the price.

My friends and I absolutely love the mic isolation features .. I have my 2 year old daughter in the room playing and my friends wouldn't even notice during chat, it isolates surrounding noise really good.

Honest opinion :
Sony's hardware - minus their main console(s) and a couple of TVs - is terrible, due to a lack of proper QC, Software issues, willful ignorance etc etc...

Take their headsets for example, most of them always break at the same exact part (stem), the PS portal with its fucking 59.94Hz stutter (they SURELY must have known this and yet...), their fucking 200 wireless headsets which lose connection due to the dongle overheating (they SURELY must have known this also), their consoles being loud due to lottery fan for 2 gens now, the XH90 fiasco (LITERALLY false advertising, main issue NEVER got fixed), usual joypad drifting issues (then again, it's a problem with most companies out there, still...) etc etc...

After the PS Portal, i'm NEVER going to buy another PS/Sony peripheral, their main console(s) is where i'm going to spend my money on and that's it.

As for the Pulse Elites, gents, you've been patient enough and unfortunately, if the PS Portal is any indication it's something which will never get fixed.

It is what it is, just don't buy their awful peripherals any more.

How the heck these multi-billion companies keep getting away with it i'll never understand.

This is all true. Every single sony headset so far breaks in the same place and earpads peel off. That said my pulse 3d never broke (only earpads peeled).
And how the FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFuck did they not revised both Pulse 3d and Elites with USB C DONGLE.
If You use the back usb A ports, the dongles are too hot and too our of reach... and I want to switch my dongle between ps5 and pc. That said.. Ordered usb c to a adapters... pulse 3d dongle now will be extra long,
All of this could've been easily avoided

never disconnected on me, not even once and and the console is wired to the tv where I sit from a different room. I can comfortably go take a shit wearing them too, thats another 10 meters

I need a decent PS headset that isn't going to break the bank.

Is there anything good that works on both consoles?
I find that generally earbuds have better price/performance compared to headsets, find a decent set of bluetooth earbuds and just use the controller mic if you're looking to save money

I think the Explore are a better headset overall than the Elite. If the Elite is comfortable on your head and you don't mind closed back for gaming it is very hard to beat them though for that price and weight. If you have a Portal the Explore is a No-brainer imo

I swapped them for wicked cushions and they're much, much better. I think they're around £20 or so.

I returned the explores even though they had mindblowing sound quality because I could only ever get 4 hours of battery life from them and the charging dock was ass. Also the included earpieces kept slipping out of my ears when I turned my head, and the lack of an earhook meant they would fall out. Unfortunate because if they had 8 hr battery life and an earhook they'd be the best sounding audio stuff I have.

Yeah they need some foams because the included tips are pretty bad. The disconnect issue needs to be fixed though because it is possible to have them never disconnect. I have recommended that people try a USB hub for the adapter.
