Shining Hearts: Shiawase no Pan 01:

Time to see if animated adaptations of fantasy JRPGs still retain a perfect record of sucking!

If you couldn't guess from the screenshot, that record is still unblemished. This show is absolutely and by far the most embarrassingly weeaboo show of the season, vastly and effortlessly outpacing even blatant moeshit like Nyaruko and Acchi Kocchi. I suddenly feel like the people complaining that JRPGs have by and large sucked for the past few years might actually be right. No wonder Sega never localized the game that this is based on; the translators would have probably killed themselves from all of the absolutely cringeworthy dialogue and haremshit.

I just about spewed drink out of my nose at the scene of the girls chasing the guy on the beach in the OP. And that was just the beginning. Basically, Rick, whoever the fuck that is, lives on some mystical island and apparently makes really, really, really good bread. He works with three supple young girls in eye-murdering cosplay garb whose relationship to him remains completely unestablished through the first episode, and they basically go around doing..........bread things.

Did I mention that everyone really, really, really loves Rick's bread?

You guys just have to watch this to understand just how ragingly weeaboo this is. The girls are just...........ugh. If you're not feeling masochistic enough to watch the actual episode, at least watch the ED. It's a concentrated burst of everything that's horrible about the show.

Really, the only way to derive any enjoyment whatsoever is to pretend (when appropriate) that "bread" is a euphemism. It may seem childish, but it works because of how vapid the women in the show are.

Just watch it.

How delightfully weird and cute. The animation and look are jawdroppingly good. A-1 FTW. Haru's water gun is a force to be reckoned with. And Suuuuuuuuuggggggggggggiiiiiiiiiiiitttttttttttaaaaaaaaaaa!

It will be an hour or so til I get around to watch the next episode of Bebop, but after everything I've been told, I'm expecting good things from it. :<

Considering the director of Sankarea has already made substantial changes in tone and presentation from the manga, I have no doubt he has a very deliberate vision and have faith that he is capable of achieving it. Whether production difficulties or lack of other talented staff members will prevent him from doing so remains to be seen.

Bjergsen is the greatest midlane in the world
but it pulls a ben-to

the manga starts off pretty good but turns to haremshit later on, right now it's complete shit and mangaf don't even bring it up anymore
Ben-to would have been garbage regardless of where the source material went. It was one dimensional and bad from the get go, of course it wasn't going to get better. Sankarea might turn out bad, but I don't see it following a path like Ben-to's at all.

The Light of El Cantare
Shining Hearts also had not-Kyubey. Sadly, he wasn't there to
fuck up everyone's lives
but just to be a cute blob and om nom nom on things:

I haven't seen sankarea the anime yet(and won't be seeing it for quite sometime),but what's different? have you read the manga to compare it to it?

I once liked sankarea manga but that was a longtime ago.

They are playing football! And it doesn't look like shit!! It even has a main character named Erika who is all about girl power! It's not like The Knight in the Area where I was expecting some nice-looking matches with decent animation but got cardboard-cutout shit. I didn't care for the melodrama, nor the cast full of dipshits (Seven aside). I just wanted football, and that didn't deliver.

Then I went on to this. The football animu of my dreams.

Well this show ended up being creepy for entirely different reasons than I expected.

It's surprising that this show is still so competent. Though I think some of the fanservice detracts from the point of the episode a bit. It will be interesting to see what happens when Mamoru Hatakeyama doesn't storyboard an episode.

Nakamura is really a big fan of weird, eccentric characters who dominate the action. This is the third time that they've played a major role in one of his shows.

Anyway, this is just another boring tale of a transfer student named Yuki who has trouble moving around a lot - it really stresses him out, like a certain character in another show this season. One day he encounters a boy named Haru and, er, they go fishing and stuff.

There's lots of 'sakuga' moments thanks to the folks over at A-1 pictures. Pretty much every scene in this show is a joy to look at whether it's the pleasant designs, joyful colours or excellent animation.

There were a number of cuts and sequences which felt like Nakamura's work, but I see on ANN that this episode has three story boarders and two directors - perhaps that would explain the variety of different sequences that were contained in this brief, but thoroughly enjoyable 23 minute show.

How DARE that elf bastard insult Rick's bread doesn't he know that Rick's bread is the hottest shit on the island? Even a random catgirl is traversing a distance to try Rick's bread, their business can't keep up with bread sales damnit, even Sylphie that looks like a Kyubei reject with a pimping ahoge couldn't resist Rick's bread, I want to punch that guy in the face for his transgression the outrage of it all.

lolwtf at that ED.

When I watch Cowboy Bebop in full from beginning to end, will I actually find out if Ed is a boy or a girl?

I just realised I never found out as a certainty after all these years. D:

She's a girl. Wantanabe said the character was originally conceived as a boy, but decided the gender ratio was too unbalanced for the main cast and changed him to a her.

Night on the Galactic Railroad

Very highly recommended.
I think icarus gained a new nakama, and your avatar is hilarious.
I see. I was wondering about that because I just finished episode 20 and it's still focusing on Chizuru.
I want ChizuruxRyu to happen sooooo badly. Step it up Ryu!

I may switch back to Aya later on, but Ruka is just so adorable.

I mean, how can you say no?!

I wish I could say more but, I will just say continue the manga when you're done! And I'm not disappointed with Ruka at all haha.

It's... not trash like I was expecting! It's not haremshit! Praise to the heavens, for DEEN is risen!

You're gonna have your haremshit, and you're gonna like it!

Such a great show with fantastic supporting characters. I love the concept behind Yano and Yoshida;
two delinquent girls opening up to the timid Sawako and ultimately becoming a trio of best friends. And once again I have to say Kazehaya was a breath of fresh air. Seeing him struggle with his emotions instead of being the cool headed playboy that can switch emotions on the fly is so damn refreshing.

I was kinda bummed that Ryu didn't confess his feelings to Yoshida (especially after he was so blunt with her, saying that he was glad she finally understood that she couldn't pursue his older brother anymore). And what was up with that Yano/Pin moment when he scared off the guys hitting on her at the shrine? lol

I'm really glad I took the time to watch this. Thanks again Solune for recommending this. I'll be sure to watch the 2nd season next.

Yeah, 2006 is a lot slower paced, and as I've said, I don't think it helped.

As for those ending differences though, I'd forgotten that...
Speaking of slower paced, I'm surprised how much people fawn over Ayu in Kanon 2006. She got waaaaay too much screen time given her backstory. But then, every girl who wasn't Makoto or Nayuki got waaaaay too much screen time in 2006.
