Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League |OT| Sent to Die

I do not understand why people keep posting about something they aren't going to play.

Because it’s representative of the worst aspect of modern gaming, that we’ve all experienced, however briefly, at some point or another?

You don’t have to play a GaaS to know how much of a fucking cancer a GaaS is.

You don’t have to pay out a full price for a game with half a story and battle passes and MTX to know how awful that experience is from every fucking angle.

Quite simple really.

Friend of mine has 18 hours logged in Steam so far, and he's not done with the game yet.

IGN was obviously speed running it.

I'm at 15HRS and just killed the first hero (which was a fun, if not infuriating, fight - largely because I didn't remember I had the shotgun the depletes shield on counters and was getting wrecked; traversal management in that fight is going to be a nightmare on higher difficulties).

. . .I'm genuinely curious what difficulty reviewers are playing on where they're breezing through the game and not doing any of the support contracts.

Quite simple really.

29c.jpg

On this game in particular it has been something else. As if its existence is a portend for the end (we're literally getting tons of upcoming single-player offline games this year, but nope - a GaaS game comes out and it is Chicken Little time all over again).

Getting close to the end of the story, I think. I'll probably give more in-depth thoughts when I'm done but for now, I have to say I've enjoyed myself quite a bit with this game. It's not a masterpiece like Rocksteady's Batman games, but it's still pretty damn good IMO. Once the combat flow clicks, it really feels like Batman's freeflow combat transplanted into an agile third-person shooter.

Also, I unlocked this modernized version of Harley's Arkham Knight outfit earlier, and I think it looks pretty good.

Just played a little end game.

Oof. This is D4 at launch levels of bad.

Do the same missions on Earth 1, build up points to do else world missions, which are the same shit again only to then escape after in a time limit. Has some difficulty modifiers you can do.

Honestly the elseworlds ones are fine because of the time limit, die and lose time, and there’s no damage restrictions. It’s meant to test your build. Rewards you very well too.

But looping main earth buses galore is so not it. Plus they do the “can’t hurt me except grenade only” kind of modifiers. This is fine sprinkled in to spice it up, but when it’s mission on mission it becomes tedious instead.

I also can’t believe they didn’t include bosses in end game. wtf?

Gotta knock my score down to a 7/10 instead of 8 when considering the whole package.

Basically 8/10 until end game lol.

Who's your main for endgame? Im excited to play tomorrow and kinda leaning towards captain boomerang. Also, do the end game missions drop good loot/upgrades?

The one thing that made me worry about this game was the progression in general, hence holding off a purchase for now. The end-game seems to be pretty barebones. Season 1 seems to be adding new activities and strongholds though, so will probably wait to see the kind of support and content the devs will provide to keep this game afloat.

I gotta say the game has one major issue with loot. It scales with you.

I had a gnarly sniper I used all game. Never once got a better one.

Gotham knights at least you’re swapping gear whole game. Plus crafting in suicide squad serve next to no purpose.

Very undercooked stuff there.

Boss fights suck so much in this game, holy hell.

Every battle relies in the same gimmick of counter shot which misses 60% of the time. Flash and Superman are Top 5 aberrations in gaming.

Do you really want it to be the other way around? Isn't this what people have been complaining about not liking in other loot based games: the ludonarrative dissonance between a weapon you found an hour one somehow being worse than the same weapon found in hour ten? I didn't even realize I had been using the same Legendary Shotgun the entire time until I found a new one with a better perk for how I was playing CP (unfortunate acronym) - and honestly it felt good and more rewarding.

I watched a streamer beat the Campaign in 9 hours and that was him speed running through the main quest to get to end game. He didn't do a single side mission or explore anything. I'm guessing most people will finish it in like 15 hours or so which is super reasonable IMO.

I just asked for a refund on Steam. I already have it on PS5 and I really thought the game would look a lot better on PC but it really doesn't. The only major difference is you can get up to like 120+ fps if you have a great video card which is NICE but its not really a must have when the PS5 version runs and looks so good already. I also have an issue where my game runs at like 5fps at the beginning of every cutscene unless you disable RT and if I'm gonna pay $99 for a PC version I want to run it with RT on my 4070 Ti. I'm having a blast on PS5 so I will re-buy it on PC when it gets patched. For now I'm MORE than happy with the PS5 version and my DualSense Edge.

Someone really needs to do a deep dive on Rocksteady going from one of gaming's greatest developers and the greatest trilogies of all time, to this absolute monstrosity - the utter destruction of a gaming studio as it's given over to the usual suspects of progressive goons and blue-haired weirdos to gut from the inside out and wear like a nasty skinsuit. That has to be an interesting story - do the people in boardrooms bankrolling these videogames understand who they are allowing to make them these days?

The horrible treatment of the DC characters, the way the game smells Wonder Woman's farts and shits on all the other heroes, the underlying nastiness and resentment running through the whole thing - it has all the earmarks of the same progressive kind of hit squad tearing through so many former beloved franchises. The people who made this game care about sex, gender, race, sexuality, their shitty politics, and then superheroes - in that order - and this is the kind of game you get when you employ people like that.

Rocksteady is dead and I hope the gaming world shits on its corpse. The next Rocksteady game is whatever Sefton Hill and Jamie Walker make, the two studio heads who smartly got the hell out of dodge before this turd saw the light of day.

“a level of graphical quality that in some scenes is genuinely industry leading.”

I’m not seeing that in any of the gameplay I watched so far. It would hit you immediately, you notice it straight away and would be a substantial subject of discussion amongst gamers .

Probably the reviewer looked from the same rose tinted glasses like Phil did when he said Halo Infinite looked stunning with Craig being a top model contender, but then after removing his glasses his stomach turned around and he had to delay the game after vomiting for hours straight

OK, after 6 hours I think people are being really unfair to this game, a solid 7 or 8 out of 10 in my opinion so far, not reached the endgame but if this was to stand on its own without any live service I think its still a decent game to play through

It actually reminds me of the Avengers game in a lot of ways where people just saw and echoed the complaints without actually playing or giving it time, the main story in that game was also really good but overlooked cause "lve service = bad game"

I played the Avengers, i thought the mission design in particular was tedious to say the least, I couldn’t finish it due to boredom

There's a rumour going around that Hill and Walker are working with James Gunn in a new DC Studios video game dev for the upcoming new DCU.

I'm really starting to think some of the reviews BS'd about the length of the campaign. I'm 9 hours in and haven't even fought a super hero yet...
You can detect a pattern between the reviewers and YT influencers crapping on the game. To the point they just sound like robots reading off of a script(and some of them are!). Or fishing for clicks by posting open clickbait spoilers with no context for a lot of angry kneejerk reactions.

You get a better idea of what the game is about when you watch someone who knows how to play the game.

She actually looks really good here, her default outfit is a bit meh and I've never liked the classic look anyway

Surprised to see BBC cover the fact the game is getting screwed over: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/newsbeat-68173718

I really enjoyed the alpha test, I'm looking forward to playing the game, but Rocksteady have been fucked over somehwat.

They shouldn't have injected woke politics in. That said I fully believe someone that is pure evil like Lex Luthor would try to convince the populace "toxic masculinity" is a thing.

Regarding reviewer playtimes: No way they aren't playing on EASY or have unlocked a majority of support abilities. I simply do not see someone cranking this up to HARD (or possibly even NORMAL) and actually doing the sidequests (which really aren't sidequests so much as "Unlock these core gameplay mechanics") and somehow finishing the game in less than 10HRS.

you bought it on PS5 AND on PC??

I prefer the gameplay and character diversification in avengers tbh, but i prefer the plot and characters in this one, but i haven't killed a single hero yet (but i played already like 6-7 hours)

Capt america had some sick combos with the shield, hulk was basically king shark but more fun, iron man was a better deadshot and if my memory doesn't trick me, the widow had similar but imo better made traversal than harley.

Boomerang is the only traversal method that really stands out and honestly the only character worth playing imo.

Also the combat was punchier and the ragdoll much better , mangling mofos felt more satisfyng.

Game structure is dogshit gaas in both with some decent story mission sprinkled here and there.

Both games are honest 6\10 fun romps in a real full scale score system that i can't see myself playing for more than the main story campaign, probably a bit more if you play with friends.

The waiting for a proper high level infamous clone continue, because this ain't.

Starting at 61 on Metacritic, oumph

For those of the fence, don't listen to early adopters enthusiastic impressions
It's really a shame how inflated game scores have become. 6/10 or 3/5 is an OK game that you mostly liked. That's the vast majority of games I've played.

As good as SS combat is, I for sure think AVENGERS had better character identity. Like the classes here play differently enough, but MA was on another level, particularly for the combos you needed to learn to REALLY make each character shine (I still remember that IRON MAN video of someone going ham, when all the scuttlebutt about MA's combat before release was being about how lacking in depth its combat was).

All of those except KS I would use (KS's classic outfit is just too hilarious). Harley in particularly looks fantastic here. Curious what some of the colorways are for these.

. . .also, fuck exclusive shit like this.

This is just ridiculous paranoid thinking. Sometimes a product is just shit, no matter how much you wish it wasn't. There isn't always an ulterior motive behind a negative impression of something you like, and this is one case where it's almost universally accepted that Rocksteady fucked up and released a subpar product to try and make a fortune off a trend. It's even worse and more noticable with SS because the studios pedigree is best in class when it comes to superhero games, and even regarded by many as one of the best in gaming full stop.

Not only that, but companies SHOULD be held accountable when they do stuff like this. If this was a sportsperson who has amazing form, transfers to a new club for an extortionate amount of money, and then just half arses every match, they will get stomped on by fans and media alike, and this is human nature.

If SS was made by an unknown developer or someone who was known for releasing subpar products, people would expect it. It would still get shat on for being a shit game, but nowhere near the level SS has been. Thats largely because Rocksteadys previous trilogy was exceptional in pretty much every way and they sell out for this shit to try and cash in. With the level of skill their team has customers RIGHTLY expect a hell of a lot more from them in terms of mechanics and effort put into their products. This is a copy/paste, half arsed effort to jump on the MTX/BP train, with repetitive missions, no substance, no depth, not even a good loot system when its a loot based game, crap crafting mechanics, low enemy variety, I mean what you expect people to say? If anything the people who need a reality are the ones who dont understand why people are 'crapping' on the game, not the ones 'crapping' all over a crap product.

It's almost like they think people are stupid enough to buy any shit they put out, and then buy skins/battle passes and all other shit on top of it. To me that's a scummy way to view the people that pay for your products. It's not a case of people being upset that some enjoy this game, I mean who gives a fuck if it's half of GAFS GOTY? It's more because of the precedent it sets as far as I'm concerned. As always though, you say one thing negative about something people like and they assume it's attack on their very existence as a human being and post LOL and triggered emojis cos they cant handle differing opinions.

An odd title.

I’ve spent about five hours playing. The gunplay is good. The traversal is excellent (in particular Boomerang, who’s brilliant fun to play).

There are obvious rough edges and I can see the mission design getting stale.

A good (ish) game now that might well be excellent in 18 months.

I don't post here much anymore, but in the time I've been participating in this thread, you've literally done nothing but moan about the game and indirectly continue to insult the intelligence, motivation or purchasing habits of folks actually playing this game - in this thread no less - who have given measured responses as to why the game isn't "The Worst Thing Ever" all in giant (repetitive at this point) missives.

. . .so yeah, "Triggered Emoji" is on the menu.

But it's not, it's an opinion, much like the opinions everyone has about literally anything and everything. No need to insult others in any particular way because you disagree.

Right. Just as if not more so ridiculous as wasting your time posting in a thread about a game you clearly care nothing about. It's not going to change anything. Yes, I don't think people disagree that live service = bad. Some people just checked it out, and enjoyed it, that's really it.

A lot of people have said negative things, even those that are enjoying it. I just think it's because a lot of your comments have been pretty aggressive about it all, lol.

Tbh I don't think they've even played the game and literally just assuming its bad because "GaaS/Live Service = Bad" and made up their mind on it, that pisses me off more as its not even giving something a chance at all, if you don't like it thats fine of course but badmouthing it or other people that may enjoy it is even worse
