I've been really looking forward to this one. It's been getting a lot of buzz and seems to be one of the frontrunners for the 2025 Best Picture Oscar.

Apologies to NotMyProblemAnymoreCunt who already posted this in the New Movie Trailers Thread but I thought I'd give this one a thread of it's own. Not a huge amount to go on in the teaser but it's looking pretty spectacular.

Edit: EviLore can you remove one of the "In cinemas this December" from the title? That's what I get for writing half of this hours ago and not properly checking it before I post.

It’s about an architect yeh. But pretty different than Megalopolis.

From a synopsis for it:

The film chronicles 30 years in the life of László Tóth, a fictional Hungarian-born Jewish architect who survives the Holocaust. After the end of World War II, he emigrates to the United States with his wife, Erzsébet, to experience the “American dream.” László initially endures poverty and indignity, but he soon lands a contract with a wealthy client, Harrison Lee Van Buren, that will change the course of his life.

It looks interesting Enough. I think I will catch this at some point. I usually enjoy A24 Pictures. My biggest anticipations are Heretic and The Backrooms.

Anora was so good, Mikey Madison is gonna win an Oscar, she's just phenomenal.

Sean Baker deserves more flowers. Really one of the best directors working today.

Megalopolis was truly a singularly bizarre film, belongs on the Mount Rushmore of bad movies.

I'm in even though I dislike brutalist architecture

I look at brutalist architecture trying to convince myself to like it but I can never get a hard on.

A dash of color here and there would spruce things up. Guess they ran out of paint or something.

It's not so much the color for me but the textureless concrete everywhere. What? You don't find this cozy!?

I was thinking more about the exterior of brutalist architecture.

Love high ceilings. Gives off a slight Wallace corporation vibe.

I appreciate brutalism in isolation and in photography, but in reality I hate it.

It's great for some obscure building out in the sticks or as the mountain-top lair for a James Bond villain, but in a town centre or as the local council office, not so much..

Brutalist architecture can look striking on photographs because it lacks humanity and can even look otherworldly. But it's also f**ng depressing for people who have to live next to a brutalist monstrosity.
