InSomnia is (supposedly) coming out very soon.

Look at that inventory.

Megadimension Neptunia VII (Victory 2)
April 2016 - PS4

Neptune and the rest of Gameindustri's CPUs return for another pun laden, fan servicey jrpg adventure featuring three unique stories.

The game features a new battle system with a different combo structure to previous games, and each goddess character now has a "Next Form", which is an additional transformation phase on top of their existing goddess transformations.

I've never even heard of InSomnia. Looks like it has potential (but also looks like it won't be out for a while still).

First i've seen of Masquerada: Songs and Shadows and that looks right up my alley. The dwarves also looks interesting because you know, dwarves rule. By the way, have we gotten any information regarding Deus ex if it will be hub-based?

TBA Holiday 2016: Mass Effect: Andromeda

Action RPG, science fiction, shooty bang bang, red, green, blue
[WanderingWind] It's a new beginning for a series that captivated a generation of players. We don't know much about the game, save for that it takes place in a new galaxy, with an entirely new protagonist (Likely named Ryder/Rider). We should know more come E3, but suffice it to say, this is likely going to be this year's smash hit, a la Fallout 4. [Durante] How enticing.
Wait what? I'd be surprised if Mass effect 4 sells half as much as Fallout 4 to be honest.

TBA 2016: World of Final Fantasy

Chibi, Charming, Turn-Based, Monsters & Collection

World of Final Fantasy steps away from the realistic looking character designs of recent Final Fantasy titles and attempts a more charming, cutesy art style to attract a younger audience, but don't be fooled by its aesthetics as it promises to feature what fans of all ages love from Final Fantasy, including character cameos from past titles such as Cloud, Squall and Lightning to name a few. Capture and tame monsters to use them in battle against formidable foes in what could very well be a sleeper hit of 2016. 7/10 Kyoufu Hype Points!

TBA 2016: Star Ocean 5: Integrity and Faithlessness

tri-Ace, Science-Fiction, Action, Terrible Character Designs

Let's be thankful that after tri-Ace's acquisition by mobile game company Nepro Japan that they're still creating console games. Let's also be thankful that no matter how bad this game may end up being, it'll never be as bad as Star Ocean 4. 8/10 Kyoufu Hype Points!

Nothing in that statement speaks to which game is going to sell more copies than the other. I don't care about junk like that as I don't own stock in either company. Regardless, Mass Effect: Andromeda will be a massive success, whenever it's released.

SRPG, isometric, hex grid, turn based, Overhype Studios, incredible depth

A dark horse for 2016 GOTY, if you're into strategy RPG's you absolutely need to look into this game. Incredible depth on all systems, great challenge, and the developers really seem to have a solid head on their shoulders. To give an example of the crazy awesome shit this game is doing:

thanks never heard of it before and huge fan of the genre

will definitely be keeping an eye on it

I'm waiting for that blood and wine expansion. hearts of stone quality is unbelievable.

Yeah, i was really surprised by the quality and size of that DLC. Probably the best DLC i've played. I mean, a
possessed
Geralt dancing at a
wedding
with a big dumb smile. Dosen't get a lot better than that.

Even though I have a mountain of RPG's to still get to, and there are so many coming this year that I can't wait for, the ones I'm most excited about are the ones potentially coming to PS4 that are PS2 rereleases.

I missed out on most of the PS2 RPG's, and if Rogue Galaxy and Dark Cloud 2 (rated so far) are any indicator, I'm hoping a lot of them are incoming.

But I also have so many to play already :(

Lots of good RPGs out this year.

Also I'm just glad to see Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth listed. I heavily recommend JRPG fans to get it (doubly so if you're a Digimon fan of course), it's a great game <3

Horizon: Zero Dawn isn't going to survive on this list past E3, when they reveal that it's just another open world crafting-action-survival-sandbox game with progression mechanics (which are completely distinct from RPG mechanics).

In a similar vein, I wonder how much of Mass Effect: Andromeda's RPG elements will be stripped out this time. After Mass Effect 3 and Dragon Age: Inquisition, Bioware has a huge hill to climb to get themselves out of their design rut.

Then you wonder why they hired the lead writer from Fallout:NV and quest designers from CDPr?

Don't forget the nep nep GOTY for 2016

April 2016 - PS4

Where'd you get April 2016 from? All the websites I can check (Amazon etc...) still list it as February 2nd, February 5th for Europe. And IFI preorders open up in 3 days(guess we'll get a real date then), and those seem to always happen one month before release.

is beloved, despite what anyone might say
I don't think it's been announced for US release yet, but I'd imagine Exist Archive would be a shoe-in for 2016. Game seems to have flown under the radar in Japan, but from what I hear it's extremely similar to Valkyrie Profile.

And speaking of VP, we also have Indivisible. Though I don't know when that's coming out.

Finally, you should add the DQ7 and 8 3DS ports to the list. And Ys 8, which I think will end up coming out this year in the states.

My most hyped games are Star Ocean, Nier Automata, Persona 5, Exist Archive, Ys 8, and Cosmic Star Heroine.

Added Baldur's Gate - Siege of Dragonspear and Battle Brothers (up to post #54).

I am actually hoping against hope that Dragonspear will be worthy of the game it expands.

Divinity: OS 2 has rocketed to the top of my chart as I've played through the Enhanced Edition. Looking forward to the White March as well, I've waited for both halves to start a new party and Pillars again.

Great list so far. Of the ones listed I'm already in for Darkest Dungeon, Divinity OS 2 and Torment.

Aren't Kingdom Come: Deliverance and For the King also expected to get launched this year?

Why would you say that?
look at setsuna
JRPG, isometric, party, turn-based, Tokyo RPG Factory
isometric, party, and turn based are all pretty telling on what you will be playing, JRPG is just there being all vague.

Most people would probably toss JRPG onto Nights of Azure as well, but putting the same tag on NoA and Setsuna is basically misleading as they are so far apart.

TBRPG would be better for setsuna and ARPG for NoA

When I was growing up JRPG always meant turn based RPGs, but since people tacked it onto fucking everything now (including zelda and dark souls) its really best to just try and get away from it and use more descriptive genre tags

Shouldn't be that hard.
(BGone expansion, isn't it?)

Yeah, while BG1 was good, true greatness didn't come till BG2. That said I have my doubts that the new expansion will hit BG1 levels. Their characters and side stories in BGEE and BG2EE were not great.

2016 is going to be such a great year for RPGs, especially JRPGs. We are seriously about to get FF Versus 13 after it was announced almost 10 years ago lol. This is the year Japanese developers make their long awaited comeback imo.

To mention a few not in the OP:

Fire Emblem Fates Feb 19th
fire-emblem-fates-two-versions-1024x427.jpg

Bravely Second End Layer June 1st

Bravely-Second-Logo-672x372.jpg

Then for a few that dont have a set date:

SMT IV F

SMT4F_10-21-15.jpg

Genei Ibun Roku ♯FE (SMTxFE)

SI_WiiU_GeneiIbunRokuFE.jpg

And those are just the JRPGs. So far im sure ill be picking up:
XCOM 2
FE Fates
Dark Souls 3
Bravely Second
Deus Ex
Persona 5
FFXV
Nier Automata
Both SMT games

Not sure if there's actually a game here yet, but I love the look and sound of Seven after RPS highlighted it as a 2016 title:

http://seven-game.com/en/

Seven is a Thief-inspired, 3D isometric RPG,
in which you take on a role of a lone traveller.
You’re going to explore a nonlinear, sandbox world
- Empire of Vetrall.

Classic isometric gameplay is going to be redefined
with parkour climbing system that gives you
the ability of free-traversing obstacles on
any height horizontally and vertically.

Quest line set in a „beyond
post-apocalyptic” environment
is created by minds behind
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
You can expect branching
choices with moral consequences.
More to come soon.
