Very small victory for my Kaz hitting Vindicator.

But it's a huge struggle. I have to sweat, strain and focus like a bomb defusal specialist while playing Kaz. Very predictable. Lives and dies by hellsweep. Very difficult to surprise opponent, oh and try electrics at shitty 3 bar connection. I'd like to punch Mishimastar in the cojones for cutting off 7 moves from Kaz's moveset and obliterating usefulness of existing moves like bare tgf, uf+4,4 and f+1+2. Thanks to him for the ff+4 though, kicking Ling in the face has never worked better, lol.

When I switch to DJ I have such easy run with ridiculous panic buttons, pressure and options. Hei too, I can always surprise opponent with huge arsenal of moves.

Btw as I understand together with dlc there should be some new costumes for characters.(Swimsuits mainly?)

Hopefully Kaz gets someday that badass snake skin suit from BR intro and SFxT ending.

I've been checking out King of Fighters Destiny on YouTube. So far I'm really digging the show. It's acutaly fairly grounded for a game adaptation; there's something refreshing about that.

Kinda wish Tekken Team would do something similar in scope. Something a bit slow paced and offbeat.

I AFK'd for a minute because the Charlottesville event was messing with my head IRL. Was ruining my life. Anyway.

I came across this guy. Is this my destiny? 1000 wins with Ling at Warrior rank? Heaven forbid!

I beat them more times than they beat me. IIRC they got to 999 but I wasn't going to be the one to give them 1000. I friended them and told them congrats. They lamented that they were ashamed to have that many wins and be low rank. #struggle.

Decided to try a new strategy: one-and-done. I figured that I could win more if I played folks once and leave before they could figure out the tricks. Real quick after that:

Even after winning 10 in a row, I had to play another to get that screenshot of 10 wins in a row. Ended up playing against my worst matchup ever:

Quit and got my Asuka up to Warrior rank too, which was way easier to do than with my Ling. Tried to do the same with Kazuya, but I regressed terribly with him. Got demoted from Fighter with him and now I'm like 2 losses from going back down to Grandmaster. Like my Kaz potentially being ranked as high as characters I've never played before is lul.

Speaking of which, I'm going back to Tekken 101. I don't know jack about Raven, but I'm going to start playing her. It will be a hilarious comedy of fails, methinks.

Just when I thought I was not going to switch from Katarina ever, Lili is honestly making me feel some kind of way. And I still need to play closer with the rest of the cast.

Personally, this is the first game in awhile where I'm having fun dicking around in single player as well simply by virtue of the battle system. If it goes well, this might be the first fighting game since... like Smash Melee where I just had fun playing it for the sake of finding out stuff, as opposed to getting better and getting wins (I mean, that's important too, but being a Tekken neophyte is making even mundane discoveries good for me).

Edit: In case point, Lili's u3+4 just made me cackle like a madman after seeing her stand on the opponent's head like that. Sometimes it's the little things in life

Because IIRC, on PSN, Xbox Live you need to have a separate account with a separate PSN or Xbox Live membership to play online.

On PS4 any other account on your console allows you to play online as long as one account has PS plus.

Doesn't need to necessarily be a smurf. I'm not entirely sure what counts as a smurf, but I had a win streak like that as well before hitting green ranks. Could be that he bought the game late or he hasn't hit ranked until mow.

Smurfing with a second character on the same account has become harder, because everyone ranks up once you hit a new color.
Once you hit Brawler everyone gets promoted to Initiate (or was it 3rd Dan?).
Once you hit Warrior everyone gets to Grand Master.
Vanqusher -> everyone else gets promoted to Vanguard.
And so on. With that kind of kickstart they want to ensure that people don't destroy lower ranked players when they decide to switch characters.

To be fair, everyone in blue ranks at this point is terrible.

I couldn't care less about win ratio or whatever but do want access to a larger pool of varied players to learn and improve from. I'm old, slow, and shitty. (context: I played Hwo and Bryan in past games but the execution/time commitment is too much for me now so I've been playing mostly Paul and Gigas) Any proper online etiquette I should abide by besides not using bullshit/distracting customization items?

It really comes down to your luck. People in Unranked tend to either be more willing to do long sets, or are practicing secondary characters.

People in Ranked might be assholes that win a match and quit, but the chances of running into real killers is also much higher there (The harder you get bodied, the more information you have to extract from it)

In terms of etiquette, do try to rematch if you can (unless it was a shitty fucking connection, in which case bail). Other than that, there really isn't much. Just play as you play. EDIT: If you play a scrubby King, then please use the Rainmaker outfit so that your Rage Art does the Rainmaker instead.

I really admire what I can best describe is the "maturity" of your play. Even when going up against a solid & sound player you don't resort to "panic moves" when things don't go your way. Good stuff.

I recently got into an overlord deathmatch (I was savior) and never adapted to his use of down jabs and his constant aggression with hell sweeps. My suckiness let him reach Genbu.

Any proper online etiquette I should abide by besides not using bullshit/distracting customization items?

Didn't rely on the same chop spam lockdown followed by command throws. It was punishable on block, she punished it. Most importantly, she did not Polk and Retreat into the corner waiting for a time over. She pressed the attack with movement and spacing.

Them playing in unranked and then switching over is the only explanation that makes sense. That was by far the best Kazumi I've seen. And given the character with her known limitations, probably the best player too.

I gave her five or six wins on top of that screenshot myself. Kazuya is my worst character but I tried.

Don't have to worry about any of that. Again, I could care less about online wins/losses really. I have a wired connection and love getting rage quit on/hate mail but doubt it'll be a struggle getting to that level in this game.

Play ranked, you're more likely to meet players on your level, and there are far more people there.

Don't actively stress about your rank or anything though, it's meaningless.

He probably hit practice mode with the character and learned the rest in a few matches. Believe me, legacy skills can get you far in this game and it's fairly easy to learn a new character once you're at a certain level. Especially when you learn a character like Kazumi with very basic but strong tools.
Unless you want to learn characters like Nina, Yoshimitsu, Hwoarang, Steve... that's a different story.

God, if there's a better feeling in games than totally downloading someone 3 ranks higher than you and making them quit rematching, I don't know about it. Just had this set against a Josie where I got totally whooped first game, barely won the rematch, and just kept adapting to them and eventually won 2 in a row so definitively they just stopped rematching. It was ranked too. Feels so good when you just feel yourself leveling up.

I'm looking to have fun but not at someone else's expense and I don't want to have people quitting on matches or not accepting rematches because my character is "annoying."

Seriously, don't worry about that. There are always going to be people that will be looking to find fault with your character choice (or playstyle or whatever) rather than with their own inadequacies, and you can't please everyone.

Play whoever you think is most fun. You'll have some good matches and some bad ones, just try to make the best of it and improve.

I truly appreciate this comment from you. It gave me a warm fuzzy feeling.

I've been playing this game frequently and eventually the flow charting and panic moves go out of the window, because they are used to win and aren't useful tools in being skilled in the game. I played EvilBowl two hours before that DM in player matches and he basically forced me to eat whatever flowcharting I had left stashed in my repertoire. It got to the point where even I was able to predict his strategies in slow motion but I still fell for the traps, but gradually I fell for less and less traps and tried to counter act what he was doing.

Hellsweep characters are the worst in this game especially with one health bar and the 50/50 mixup at play.

Fair enough. I've just been out of Tekken for a while so I didn't know if fighting the big body archetype was considered the dregs or whatever. I myself have hated the Dhalsim archetype since vanilla SFII and still hate the matchup to this day so I get it.

In Tekken, people Online tend to hate the gimmicky characters with a lot of stances and evasive moves.
I play some of the most hated characters, but believe me, getting hate mails means you did things right. Don't adjust your playstyle to your opponent's liking, make him adjust his playstyle to try and counter yours.

Messed with the mod. It's ok, it glitches when trying to put songs in that are larger than the original. Bummer. I really wanna put Moonlit Wilderness on Helipad Night. Until then, it's a no go. lol

My Kazuya had two promotion matches in a row against two different Hwoarangs I lost them both.

My wife said she was going to sit here and watch me play until I get a promotion. That was an hour ago.
