Anyone here play Shaheen? I'm not really understanding how to get a regular down 3 after his command slide. I heard regular down 3 was guaranteed after this but it seems like I'm always in stealth step from this move and I can't figure out how to cancel it (or if that information was bullshit in the first place).

Loving this game on PC man. Matches are smooth as butter. SoCal here and played against Vazra in Puerto Rico and damn this netcode is top notch stuff.
I've been demoted 3 times today. I get Brawler and get my ass stomped. I'm not good, but I'm a little okay. Enough to know that these monsters online need to hurry up and get out of my brackets. I mean did all the pro players get the PC version to stomp people on? It's so damn frustrating. I'm trying to step my game up with spacing and waiting on whiffs. I've got my back dash down and can wave dash.. but these dudes are like on another level.

The character designs really turn me off(too busy). Add in the obnoxious customization and it's even worse. I prefer the tekken 3/TTT era design Still debating picking up, but that is really making me question if I should. Yeah, I know....stupid reason

It'll probably be in the Season Pass. They already said a ton of stuff from the Arcade was found on the disc, so probably locked as DLC.

Definitely worth it on PlayStation but keep in mind that online is stil broken
Online doesn't work on ps4, if you're ok with that then yes it's worth it.
Its worth it, T7 is great. Online is broken, but there's supposed to be a patch next week.

Online isn't completely broken on PS4. You can create a private match and invite others and that seems to work decently.

Back on the PS1 I would just map out the controlls to be both punches, both kicks, and then both throws. It made doing King's cradle and his other command throws much easier. It's fun if you've ever done them in the arcade, but at home with the game pad it's all pushing the buttons like the pad is an arcade stick.
Breaking his throws isn't really that difficult. I have been worried about playing KING cause I thought the majority of players knew how to break them.
King and even Armor King were always powerful character even without them. It's nice seeing them come back. lol won't be long till most players learn how to break them
Note: for example, if you hold down both kicks and then press both punches it counts as all 4 if you kept the buttons pressed and held already. I guess new players might want to know that. It makes it feel less mechanical.
It has always helped me with ki charges (all 4 buttons pressed at once) and Bryan's taunt. Especially King's throws.

Been in practice mode literally all day. Most fun I've had just practicing in a fighting game since SC4. Didnt realize how much I've missed 3d fighters.

Finally decided to play some online and like most people on PS4, I can hardly get into a match. I was doing player matches and it took about 20 minutes and over a dozen could not connect to opponent to finally play. I'm crummy at the game but having a great time. Hopefully that patch rolls out soon to fix this.
Had a great time playing with you tonight (and the other night as well!), dragonlife. Looking forward to us crawling out of scrub tier together.

Me too, but I play a lot of Smash, not Street Fighter (and a little Mortal Kombat). Decided to dip into it since two of my friends got it and seem to like it a ton, plus it looks awesome. Also confused!

WTF like 15 hours of treasure battles and I just saw a new modifier for the first time. Both started on 1/3rd HP and only juggles did damage. Bryan used his super on me and did 0 damage, was pretty funny.
Also, the grind was WORTH IT.

100%. Just know that they are trying to fix issues with their PS4 server side connections so it'll be a bit before online becomes stable

Nice but 'warrior' is barely a grind, here's all the ranks, the ki aura's require at least Genbu rank, Tekken god prime unlocking the final aura ;P

I'm so bad at this game, I'm getting consistently destroyed by other noobs. I'm still having a lot of fun though, just gonna keep playing and going back to the lab to improve. In Street Fighter I just have a miserable time when I'm losing.

the reason why i didnt notice this is cuz you have to press db2 quite fast after noticing you got the counter hit. Otherwise it whiffs :\
Sample Combo 2 in Shaheen's move list utilizes counter hit 4,1. Using 4,1 to fish for counter hits can be dangerous since the 2nd hit can be ducked and punished. Already played against people that know that...

Any idea on how to approach neutral when my opponent is close to me? I'm not sure what buttons are good and I keep getting fucked when I try to backdash away.
Also in medium range I read I need to use db3 and d2, d2 works pretty well but I have no idea how to use db3. This was a TTT2 guide though so maybe some stuff is outdated.
Also what is my general gameplan at all? This question might be too broad.

messing around in trainging, db3 seems like a good way to scoop someone off the ground but needs some experimentation with how/when to use it as it kinda pushes the opponent away.
for going neutral f1+2 can be helpful if you want them out of your face. f2 is a decent launcher but slow, df2 is faster but doesn't launch as high. you can follow up a df2 with fu3, 1, 1, 2, 1, 1+2
as for general gameplan, I'll have to get back to you on that one.
edit: fu2 might be a little safer than f1+2

Not gonna lie, it's daunting as fuck to learn a new character.
Still fun as hell though.

So I'm coming from Street Fighter and I'm finding it super overwhelming. My movement in general feels super wonky. I think that's my main problem. I'm just not moving around how I want to and it's incredibly frustrating.
This is how I visualize the playing field. someone can correct me if it's wrong. The field is more or less a vertical 2D plane that is parallel to the TV screen. The same plane from any 2D fighter actually. This invisible plane cuts through the 2 characters. On this plane I can think of the game as a sort of regular 2D fighter with back to block, down to crouch, up to jump, backdashing, etc. Now being a 3D fighter, this 2D plane CAN ROTATE about the center of both characters with side stepping/walking and certain fighting moves. After rotating whatever degrees to the right or left, this becomes the new 2D fighting plane until it is rotated again.
All this to just say that this is wildly different than soul Calibur 8 way run which I guess I'd consider to be a "full" 3D fighter. Not better or worse. Just in the sense that movement isn't restricted at all when it comes to rotating the vertical 2D plane in soul Calibur.
So my question is, if I'm starting out, am I wrong or how messed up will I be with learning the game if I think of Tekken as a "mostly" 2D fighter? Is this how I'm supposed to think of it? How far can I get if ignore side stepping for now? I guess it'd also depend on the character right? I'd imagine some characters are better or have really good moves that rotate the plane.
Another thing I'm realizing is that the moves aren't as dial-in as I thought they would be. There's some strict timing involved for those 10 hit combos.
