You bet. Maybe that was his intention all along.
Prince would routinely rock a show north of 3 hours, wait an hour, hit a nearby club, and play for another 4.
That's essentially a work shift minus the lunch break. For every show.
He knew.

Has anybody talked about what a great song 7 is? That was the first Prince song I ever fell in love with as a kid. I eventually bought the Love Symbol album with money I got for Christmas. I'd play it for friends and they'd look at me weird for being into it.
You left off two very important ones:

I said it back when Bowie died, and will say it again. We know that Death is in a bad mood when it finally takes Keith.
I love 7! Incredible harmonies on that hook. Layers and layers. I bought the New Power Generation/Symbol CD for that song, too. I would say it was the first Prince I loved too but I had the pleasure of owning the Batman 89 soundtrack as a 10 year old and had thus gotten to know some oldies between then and the release of (Love Symbol).Has anybody talked about what a great song 7 is? One of my favourite Prince stories was how, during the filming of Purple Rain, there was a scene that the director realised he needed a piece of music for. So he contacted Prince that night to tell him he needed a piece of music to accompany that scene, but there was no immediate rush. The next morning Prince had written and composed When Doves Cry.
Mariah gave a tribute to Prince tonight. They were good friends.![]()

Prince's Super Bowl halftime performance is legendary, but the way he trolled the press a few days earlier was always a favorite of mine:

Anyone got an alternate link to that Soundcloud Atlanta show that was posted earlier? It's been taken down![]()
Thank you! I had searched but stupidly didn't put a date filter on it so it was coming up with heaps of random stuff. Will have a listen nowJust search on Soundcloud. Others have posted it. Can't get over that Bob Marley cover, listened it again after waking up.
Edit https://m.soundcloud.com/talkgoodbusiness/prince-live-at-the-fox-theatre-in-atlanta-the-final-show there is one. 1.11.00 is the Bob Marley cover. Listen to it, you won't be disappointed.

Unrelated, but I remember finding out WB was actually going to release the Black Album. Like, for real release it.
The only other time I was anywhere near as surprised by a piece of media getting a release was the Donner Cut.
Not even Superman could see Prince.
Prince’s music is the soundtrack to the soulful and beautiful universe he created, and we have all been privileged to be part of that amazing world.
I performed his song "Nothing Compares 2 U" for the first time a couple months ago. It has a timeless relevance for me and practically everyone I know.
Sadly, now his own lyrics in this song could not be more relevant than at this moment, and I sing them now in reverence as I pay tribute to this unequaled artist who has given all of our lives so much inspiration and made the world so much more interesting.
We will miss you Prince!!!

It was the old school joint for the true funk soldiers. RIP.I think Musicology gets slept on way too much. Its super tight (like all his shit) but he doesnt let that clinical production work get overly fussy and stand in the way of the musicianship and songwriting thats on display. Its funky, fun and the air hasn't been sucked out sonically.
I've probably watched this 10 times today (and posted it earlier). It will never get old. The way he absolutely shreds with what seems like total effortlessness always astounds me.
