The best cinematic intro in videogames history

If your first thought isn't the below video, then you're doing it wrong.

Just realized Hideo's name is not in the title anywhere at the end of that. Like when everyone pointed it out in the Snake Eater Remake trailer (even if he's not involved).

Don't worry, it's there where it matters:

Some good examples posted,

Another World on Amiga blew me away.
Wing Commander II and Wingcommander 3 on CD ROM for different reasons, you had to be there.

DC Universe Online intro movie has stuck with me for years, Good voice cast, excellent action and pacing.

This beats the lot :)

Oh man, that was awsome back In the day, booting up the floppy and seeing this! Blew me away back then. It really hit me in the Sci-Fi feels.

Another Amiga intro I liked back then was Liberation when it came out. I played that game to death.

Another that I loved upon booting the first time was Final Fantasy 8. After being hooked on 7 and being able to finally play the next, the intro was epic back then.

I forgot too add snatcher

Hideo Kojima is always ahead of his time

Hideo had nothing to do with the Sega CD port of Snatcher. That version was made exclusively for English speaking audiences with Konami's USA office being in charge of the project. Hideo directed the PC-Engine CD-ROM port of the game, however, and most of the Sega CD intro was lifted from that version.

But has exclusive content at the end with Gillian talking to Jamie. The Sega CD port adds an additional minute to the intro. The later Playstation 1 and Sega Saturn ports (that were Japanese only) doesn't include the Sega CD exclusive content. But does include a CG recreation of it:

I came to say Onimusha 3 but OP already nailed it.

As for how Capcom made the game so pretty, the game has fixed camera angles like a classic resident evil game. That allows devs to optimize the look of the scene on a specific angle which would not be possible with a free roaming camera. They did the same with DMC3 although i think the aesthetics of onimusha 3 are better overall.

Intro intros:

I really like all the THPS intros, but the third one is nostalgic:

In-game intro:

Sly 2 starts with incredibly nice animation and very thick atmosphere, you can't help but get sucked in.

If this thread doesn't make you realize how utterly depressing and soulless modern gaming is compared to shit even 15 years ago, I don't know what will.

Nah didn't like the first one.

Silent Hill 2 is legendary, followed by Silent Hill 3 intro.

They're all brilliant, the music for all three are excellent (I still play the 2nd's most of the time). The 1st's though hit me in the Twin peaks feels a bit more.

The first games intro music has more of a feeling of loss.

First one had intro music that sound like coming from an AM radio, there is a lack of bass to it, and I didn't like the first guitar riff too.

To me it can never top Theme of Laura from SH2, and even SH3's You're Not Here is still better than SH1 theme.

Just my preference.
