The Edge of Sleep - Excellent cosmic horror TV show

Trailer has some light spoilers so if you like Lovecraftian stuff just watch it

Apparently some youtuber called Markplier wrote and plays in it, it's obviously a low budget show but goddamn, that was fucking intense and well written and directed. If you like movies like The Edge of Madness or The Void I strongly recommend this, I fucking loved every minute of it. Both actresses are dong a great job, the 2 male leads are pretty decent too.

Btw, can anyone recommend any more unpretentious indie stuff, I'm getting tired of Hollywood's bullshit and this was a breath of fresh air. Cosmic horror suggestions are welcomed too

Well, pretentious is very subjective so my apologies if this fits the bill in your eyes, but I quite enjoyed The Endless (2017). It follows two brothers who decide to revisit the home of the alleged cult, that they grew up in and later escaped in their youth, to provide themselves closure. The cosmic horror elements aren’t heavily in your face, but they are there for sure.

It’s set in the same universe as two of the directors’ other films, Resolution and Synchronic, which I haven’t seen but from what I understand each film works totally fine as stand-alone stories.

Evidently this was filmed a while ago. It is based on a podcast and as far as I know Mark just acted. He wasn't a writer or producer but payed the licensing fees for the theme song. Been a Markiplier fan since Unus Annus and enjoyed Edge of Sleep well enough. The success of this has some bearing on the Iron Lung movie he's been working on. Looking forward to that too so everybody go watch Edge of Sleep lol

I like that one a fair bit. Resolution was not quite as good but still decent enough for an indie sci-fi flick. Synchronic seems to be a big step up budget wise as it has Anthony Mackie in it but I've not seen it.

I've watched them and I fucking love them, the first two were great movies, I was a little disappointed by Synchronic though even though it's still a good movie. Your post reminded me to check on Benson and he's now directing Marvel shows. Fucking tragic
