The Football Season 24/25: 115 Reasons For Man City Not To Win Anything

The Man Utd match was dull, thankfully there's a big game tomorrow.... The 115 Vs Arsenal from the Emptihad.

I took Haaland off captain duties for my FPL team, hoping Arsenal turn up to keep him quiet now.

Some impressive misses in the Palace match. Also my earlier post is incorrect, the time of the goal got changed to 23 seconds. last week Brentford scored in 22, scoring super early didn't help in either game.

I wouldn’t say it was dull. United were creating a bunch of chances, just couldn’t quite make anything of them. Zirkzee going off seemed to make a difference since he had been doing a lot of linking up before that and that wasn’t happening as much with him off. Hopefully once he gets back up to speed Hojlund is able to give add that finishing touch that was lacking for most of today. I’d be curious to see the two of them play together. But that would probably mean not playing Bruno.

I also had a feeling Henderson was going to have a great game since it was against United.

It was 0-0 with chances few & far between, against Palace. When you're the last game shown on MOTD, it's not one to stay up for. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Seeing Pep kick his chair when City conceded just now ... Imagine what he'll do when all their trophies are stripped off them. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Thanks for that, Chris. Can really feel the authentic enthusiasm there.

Very quiet in here this weekend.

Man Shitty drew their Saudi Derby with Newcastle. Duel in the Desert? Clash of (oil) Clans? Game of Gulfs?

Arsenal were lucky to get a win, 90+4.

The bin dippers are having a pretty easy start to the season and beat Wolves. Cole Palmer and 10 others beat Brighton.

Man Utd coming up in 90 mins against Spurs. Apparently Ugarte is in for Eriksen, Rash & Nacho on the wings with Zirkzee up front, but the leaks could be wrong. Son is out, he was injured playing against CarrierBag. (Or perhaps trying to get out of one).

Rodri being out for the rest of the season is going to be a big blow for City. He's fantastic and is probably their most important player. It's certainly going to help Arsenal's chances, although there's part of me that thinks they will still manage to bottle it and City will win again.

Other than Hojlund and a proper left back this is arguably United's best lineup. So we'll see how they get on. If Hojulund does come on then I'll be curious to see if they bring off Bruno or Zirkzee. Like I said above, Zirkzee has seemed to make a big difference with the team's link up play so I'd be interested to see them play together.

Absolute shambles, all over the pitch. That was almost our full strength team (Minus Luke Shaw & Hojlund starting) and we were walked over by fucking Spurs!

The fallout this week could be interesting. Porto away on Thursday & then Villa away next Sunday. Fun times.

I got pretty nervous when Arsenal went down a goal after wasting so many chances. Good job by them to rally back and win 3-1.

Pretty dull game against Villa but it could've been much worse. I feared a battering when I seen no dedicated DM and a CB pairing of Maguire & Evans... Who played really well.

Spurs though... 👀

I believe this is separate from the 115 case that's ongoing. Just an FYI in case anyone thinks City got off with it all.

Following today’s publication of the Rule X Arbitral Tribunal Award, Manchester City Football Club thanks the distinguished members of the Arbitral Tribunal for their work and considerations and welcomes their findings:
- The Club has succeeded with its claim: the Associated Party Transaction (APT) rules have been found to be unlawful and the Premier League’s decisions on two specific MCFC sponsorship transactions have been set aside
- The Tribunal found that both the original APT rules and the current, (amended) APT Rules violate UK competition law and violate the requirements of procedural fairness.

- The Premier League was found to have abused its dominant position.
- The Tribunal has determined both that the rules are structurally unfair and that the Premier League was specifically unfair in how it applied those rules to the Club in practice.

- The rules were found to be discriminatory in how they operate, because they deliberately excluded shareholder loans.
- As well as these general findings on legality, the Tribunal has set aside specific decisions of the Premier League to restate the fair market value of two transactions entered into by the Club.
- The tribunal held that the Premier League had reached the decisions in a procedurally unfair manner.
- The Tribunal also ruled that there was an unreasonable delay in the Premier League’s fair market value assessment of two of the Club’s sponsorship transactions, and so the Premier League breached its own rules.

Click here to download page 164 of the judgment, which summarises the Tribunal’s decision.

Pretty damning findings in terms of how the Premier League operate.

Bunch of corrupt, inept cheats.

Bad news for Arsenal with City successfully arguing that 0% loans from Shareholders are bullshit. What’s the going rate for interest on £250m these days?

Clubs who gave evidence in favour of the Premier League against Manchester City over APT rules:

• Liverpool
• Arsenal
• Manchester United
• West Ham
• Brentford
• Bournemouth
• Fulham
• Wolves

Man City and the Premier League both claiming a win in the APT rules legal case, so it's as you were. PL say, "the Premier League will continue to operate the existing APT system, taking into account the findings made by the Tribunal."

Maybe the best midfielder (alongside Xavi) I've ever seen

Severely underrated during his prime and obviously completely overshadowed by Messi

I am supposed to hate him because he scored against us in the 2010 final, but I could never.

Don't get me wrong, he was a very good midfielder in his prime, alongside Xavi in that Barca midfield about 15yr ago. But he has stiff competition to be considered the best midfielder from the likes of:

  • Zidane
  • Vieira
  • Platini
  • Gullit
  • Keane
  • Scholes
  • Cruyff
  • Maradona
  • Bobby Charlton
  • Michael Laudrup
  • Modric

(I've left Messi & Ronaldo off as they were more forwards than midfielders).

Oh and...

Fair enough

But I haven't seen most of them play. Except for Scholes, Modric and Keane

Shitty international break... but for the first time in my life there isn't a single Manchester United player in the England squad. First time since 1976 apparently.

Former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has agreed to become the next England manager.

Opinions?

I'm struggling with this. England and Germany have such a fierce rivalry... And now we're managed by a German...

I know we've had Sven and Fabio but we've not got the same rivalry with their countries. This is going to be interesting.

The English FA had a German telling then what to do from 2015 until the end of last season. That should lessen the shock somewhat.

Finally, the International break is over! 🥳

Spurs Vs West Ham to kick things off at 12:30, London derby.

Then the big weekend game, Sunday @ 16:30 - Liverpool Vs Chelsea.

This is the first game where Liverpool have played a team in the top half of the table so far this season, first challenge.

Some other ties:

Banter United play Brentford on Sat @ 15:00.
The Arse play Bournemouth on Sat at 17:30.
The 115 play Wolves on Sunday @ 14:00.

Finally United played some good football.
But always feeling nervous that they are gonna concede at anytime.
Missing the comfort of alex era were you know that United's victory is given if they lead or even when they are goal behind

City equalize, that Arsenal defender is a fucking clown for getting himself sent off yesterday, completely fucked their season up for no reason.

That was a terrible decision. He barged into the keeper just as the corner was taken. Offside, red card for silva and a 12 match ban for being a horrible little gerbil

OK, I've got a question for the maths nerds (I'm too dumb to work this out myself).

Liverpool's goal difference is 12 and Man Utd's is -2. How many times bigger is Liverpool's goal difference than Man Utd's?

Peter Drury's scripted bullshit makes watching games difficult. He's such a shit commentator. Clearly spends his time writing nonsense phrases to spew out at the next game he's attending.
