All of that sounds horrible.
Hard to do when games are 20+ hours and seasons are 7 and 9 hours. They have a talented group working on it, I'll give them that. Mazin is really talented. Doesn't mean it'll be perfect but I think with the source material they will do a decent job with most of it.Exactly my thought when I read that review. It seems like they still can't figure out how to let the show breathe.
It wasn't cherry picked at all, in the 3 reviews I posted, those were all points in those reviews and it was based off of those reviews I read. Some serious cherry-picked takes in the OP for a season with over 90% on rotten tomatoes lol.
Wanna tell us something?
In this case, they are only covering half the game. Unlike the first season, I would think there is sufficient time this time around. Will have to watch it to see where all that time went.Hard to do when games are 20+ hours and seasons are 7 and 9 hours. They have a talented group working on it, I'll give them that. lol yeah such a mess,Sounds about right.
TLOU2 is a bloated mess as a game, won't translate nearly as well to TV. TLOU1 was such a tight package from a story perspective.
yep. tlou2, story-wise, is basically a 20+ hour version of death wish, padded with soap opera & flashback filler...The first game was great and they managed to make a mediocre slob of a TV series out of it..... The 2nd game has writing on par with an Indian soap opera, so the 2nd season being worse was almost a given.
I tell it like it is. It can't be worse than showing up in every Naughty Dog threat to complain about the game that released nearly 5 years ago.
It didn’t translate well on consoles either. The source material was always going to be really difficult to translate to TV compared to season 1. They had a tough task ahead of them.
-Tommy and Dina are featured heavily and are the stars of the show
Now that’s a great zombie show.I'll probably watch Black Summer again instead.
Wild take lolChapter 3 wasn't filler. It was a propaganda piece about ethanasia and male suicide disguised as a gay romance.
Not subtle at all to someone who can recognize patterns.
Your last paragraph is completely contradictory, have you actually re-read it?Well, fans of TLOU2 dont like to admit it, but the story or rather the plot of the sequel simply isnt as good. There is literally nothing that happens when you get to Seattle with Ellie. The three days basically go by as she eliminates one person after another. There is no story there. It's mostly just Ellie either going at it alone or with Dina or Jesse for a few missions.
Abby's plot of saving those two kids isnt particularly great either, but at least there is a plot of an impending invasion of the island that the show couldve built around.
The game is boring despite the stunning visuals, excellent combat, and superb level design because the story is simply lacking. They shouldve crammed everything in one season instead of splitting it into two.
Maybe update metacritic and rotten tomatoes score ?It wasn't cherry picked at all, in the 3 reviews I posted, those were all points in those reviews and it was based off of those reviews I read.
Collider disagrees and thought it was great, which I've since read. Kotaku agrees with the points in the OP and adds it has too much exposition.
Agreed. The first season looks amazing on 4K Blu-Ray.One of the best shows on TV, stunning in 4K HDR. Cant wait to dig into Season 2
People forget that game vs film/tv Meta standards are different. 88 Meta for film and tv is like 90 for game.Seems like OP is cherry picking a bit here.
Review average on Metacritic is 88, “Universal Acclaim”:

Season 1 is at 84 on Metacritic, in comparison.
This IP brings out the worst in most of you and it's funny to watch.Chapter 3 wasn't filler. It was a propaganda piece about ethanasia and male suicide disguised as a gay romance.

Thanks for the context. Can't wait for this.Seems like OP is cherry picking a bit here.

lol nothing about this franchise is wildly polarized in any medium, that's the brain-rotted incel narrative that didn't stick in 5 years.I think much like with the first season is the takes on this season are going to be pretty polarized and it will come down to just a matter of personal preference on if you like the changes they've made. So I think the opinions will be pretty varied and there won't be one consistent sentiment throughout all reviewers. Aside from the fact that it appears most people still consider it a good show, even those who are less positive, but it will come down to the specific moments and who liked how they translated it and who didn't.
Absolutely, the second half of TLOU2 felt like self-indulgent drivel. Felt like it would never end.The first game was great and they managed to make a mediocre slob of a TV series out of it..... The 2nd game has writing on par with an Indian soap opera, so the 2nd season being worse was almost a given.

Wrong. I liked the first season and I like the games. You’re projecting. There were 3 reviews out I didn’t see any others and then I created the thread based on those reviews. A little bit after I did, the other reviews started to pop up. Then I made a follow up post linking metacritic and saying it had an 88.That OP is bad intended and it's pretty obvious what it's trying to do...and it only has 3 reviews, with the worst review of course, in full display (one from a videogame publication which makes no sense)...then Rotten Tomatoes is actually at 93% and metacritic is like 82.
Most posts are also of course ignoring every single good review and focusing on the only bad one.
Anyway, can't wait for this IP to keep going and in a week once ratings come in i'm sure it'll be great to witness those topics, as well as that steam usercount topic getting new updates![]()
Due to episode constraints, it doesn't give a lot of time for some of the best moments and plot points to breathe, feels rushed at times
"Bella Ramsey was fantastic as a younger version of Ellie, but their performance in season 2 didn’t really sell me on the fact that five years have passed in the world of The Last of Us. Ellie just doesn’t appear to have matured, and it sits strangely next to the very mature content of season 2. Ramsey acts with more physicality, displaying impressive combat skills, but still behaves like a child in conversation."
