The PS5 Digital Edition will start at $379.99 USD until December 24, 2024

They probably "leaked" the price cut by accidentally uploading the wrong video.

The ad that is now offline was about 30 seconds long and may be posted on Dec. 3 since that date is "hidden" in the longer ad without the price cut, see @ 0:47

Yeah, they messed up. They have multiple versions of this new advert, and it looks like they scheduled one for their socials that should have gone live later—presumably for Black Friday, or as you mentioned on December 3, since that date appears in the video and also marks PlayStation's 30th anniversary.

The PlayStation (abbreviated as PS, commonly known as the PS1/PS one or its codename PSX) is a home video game console developed and marketed by Sony Computer Entertainment. It was released in Japan on 3 December 1994, in North America on 9 September 1995, in Europe on 29 September 1995, and in Australia on 15 November 1995

I'm actually hoping that the December 3 tease in the advert is about State of Play and not just this PS5 Slim holiday promo.

True, a limited price drop for the digital base model would definitely be a bit underwhelming for a 30th anniversary.

On the other hand, it's 2024 Sony we're talking about - at this point, I wouldn't put anything past them.

Same, I need to see some groundbreaking shit again, Bluepoint, Naughty Dog, where are your games!

About 20% VAT is the problem in Europe, it's 10% here in Australia.

The times when Sony was losing money on Hardware are long gone.

Nope. It's Sony being greedy.

Vat was always the same and PS5 launched with 500$/500€ parity. Same with almost all other consoles before.

Only thing that changed in the meantime is how Sony treat customers.
