Slimy orange 'pods’ spreading rapidly in Europe..

“Since 1990 the species has appeared all over Western Europe and is spreading rapidly. Bryozoans are zooids with both female and male sex organs, which allows them to clone themselves."

  • What are bryozoans?
Bryozoans are small, soft-bodied invertebrates that live in colonies. They are related to corals and have been around for at least 480 million years.

  • What are zooids?
Zooids are the individual animals that make up a bryozoan colony. They are tiny, usually less than 1/32 of an inch in size, and come in various shapes.

  • How do zooids live together?
Zooids live in box-shaped compartments made of calcium carbonate and chitin, which is also found in crab shells. The arrangement of the cells within the colony depends on the species. For example, branching bryozoans have cells arranged vertically, while encrusting bryozoans have cells arranged horizontally.

  • How do zooids feed?
Zooids use a feeding organ called the lophophore to capture food. The lophophore is a U- or O-shaped fold in the body with tentacles covered in cilia. The cilia sweep water through the lophophore, capturing plankton and bacteria.

  • How do zooids communicate?
Zooid walls are usually perforated to allow communication between zooids.

Ok well over an hour and a half to fast scroll through all these images (skipping the many inagebb ones that are dead), I have successfully stolen many inspirations for my tabletop campaign ideas, thanks all!

Here's a random image of mine that hopefully isn't a repost that I save from a different NeoGAF thread. This came from some random imgur dump last year.

I fall into so many online hobbies, but I was today years old when I found one that just doesn't interest me at all.

  1. Video games?
  2. Fountain pens?
  3. Amateur fiction?
  4. DSLR reviews?
  5. Transitional retrocomputing?
  6. Tabletop games?
  7. Book collecting (and sometimes reading like I should)?
  8. Data hoarding?
  9. Amateur programming?
  10. Self hosting web servers?
  11. Bird feeding?
  12. Prepping my off roader to be ready for the Grand canyon when the most I've ever asked it to do is go over a curb?
  13. The Spiffing Brit YouTube channel?
  14. Fire alarms?...nah

Fire alarm community is somehow one of the more dramatic ones. Interesting to dig into if you’re bored with your life.
