Don't really care about the game but might could have been hyped into a day one steam version. Being EGS only just means I'll never even consider the game now. 🤷‍♂️

Tim would rather take the monetary loss while drying his eyes with Fortnite/Unreal Engine money than give players the satisfaction of having the game on Steam.

I dislike Sweeney and EGS for a ton of reasons, but I won't hold this against him considering he funded the game to begin with. Still, crazier things have happened, and I wouldn't be surprised to see it end up on Steam regardless in a few years.

Why is this a thread and how is anyone taking this seriously? Of all the fake things this is the fakest. Why the fuck would the CEO of epic be replying to a random customer emailing him asking him when a game is coming to another platform. 🤦‍♂️

This is from Steve Alison (Epic Games Store GM) a few years ago:

"Epic Games Store GM Steve Allison said Alan Wake II will be exclusive to the Epic Games Store for "a long time," though he did not provide a specific time period for the exclusivity. He didn't say, forever, though."

Also, article in 2021: Epic has spent $1 billion since September 2019 to launch titles exclusively on the Epic Games Store.

Tim Sweeney in 2024: "Many Epic Games Store Exclusivity Deals "Were Not Good Investments"

On the one hand, he clearly understands the importance of exclusivity.

On the other hand, his storefront unfortunately is peanuts in market share compared to Steam, and AW2 being exclusive won't suddenly change that reality (at least on its own).

Remedy, hear me out.

Control is a masterpiece. I am trying for a year now to hunt that fucking artbook that doesn’t seem to pop up anywhere on this planet. Jesus Christ, I have a $1000 limited edition games that pop up more often than that.

Nobody gives a shit about your moody walking simulator. Just make more Control, how fucking hard does it have to be?

I thought Epic published this. More than just an exclusivity deal. This would be like Fortnite going to Steam or Unreal. The good news it, the game is the worst kind of ass you can imagine. Go play Max Payne 2 or Control.

How many times does this have to be repeated...but EPIC FUNDED THE GAME....didn't moneyhat it, but funded the game.

In otherwords, it (likely) wouldn't exist if Epic hadn't come in and funded the game.

Which would you prefer?

The game exist, but stuck with Epic or not exist at all?

Remedy does that ALL the time. Remember Quantum Break launching exclusively on... The windows store?
Control also started on the Epic Game store as an exclusive too.
And Alan Wake 2 forever exclusive.

They always pick the worst possible exclusivity deal, on the worst possible platforms, every single time. I never understood that about them.
Because it wasn't an exclusivity deal. It was a "we want this game made and Epic is the only company that will bankroll it"

Judging by your post I wouldn't expect you to know the difference.

Pretty sure another publisher would have picked it up anyway

He complains his store isnt available on other platforms., which is why he sued Apple etc.

But his exclusives arent available on other platforms on PC either

He's a hypocrite
I thought his complaint was he didn’t want to give Apple their 30% not that they wouldn’t allow him to sell his games on their store? Apple wasn’t making anything exclusive as far as I know they were just taking too much of his money.

Control 2 was in pre-production while Alan Wake 2 was being developed. It makes sense to have overlapping projects so artists are not idle while the scope of the game is still being defined.

Tim Sweeney, the CEO of Epic Games, had been outspoken about this 30% fee, believing that storefronts could significantly reduce this while still being profitable.[3][4] Part of the reasoning behind the Epic Games Store was to show that Epic could operate this storefront at a 12% revenue share

This is a stupid take. No one gave them money but Epic, ya know who could've? Valve!
Sometimes it’s a tale about a poisoned chalice. And while I am happy that AW2 is a thing at all, Remedy could’ve sacrificed some creative liberties and sell this game to Sony or some Chinese fund. Instead they’ve ended up with compromised vision due to hastly scaled down DLCs and ended up in Tencent’s pockets. Both at the same time.

Unlike many on GAF, I really love Remedy as creatives. But my god they are so bad at business choices it’s a pure miracle they exist at all, let alone independent.

Woke doesn't mean, "something I don't like".

Your comment is completely out of touch. Alan Woke 2 not because I don't like it, or rather not only because of that. Here's why. They originally created Saga as shown in the left image, and then Sweet Baby came along and turned it into the right image. Not only they wokenized her image they also wokenized her character so she is unbearable from time to times.

Saga is shown as perfect, so sweet, caring and also capable. "Much more capable than Alex Casey" as he says himself, that's why he put her in charge. And with this perfect character they tried to implement some drama, how she neglected her daughter, which felt completelly off with her character.

Wokeness litrally destroyed the AW2's plot. Not as much as Spider Man's 2, but close. Thanks Sweet Baby
