lmao at these attention whoring, click bait, internet cookie points PR shills, they literally live and die by the clicks, that "article" has the equivalent substance of a lobotomized pornstar.

Omg this 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

I'm tired of this shit, honestly.

This is like the Switch 2 carnival.

"We hear it's launching this year"
Doesn't launch this year
"Should we be worried about the PS5 Pro?"

Why are you comparing a $600 console to a $2000+ single PC component???

Where is the logic? What is your point?.

Stupid fucking post.
Realistically, even at $600, if the alleged specs are true, it is going to be a great value proposition considering how expensive GPUs are these days.

EXCLUSIVE: ASKING A QUESTION AND NOT ANSWERING IT

Documents sent to me in mid-2023 showed the PlayStation 5 Pro release date, which, if memory serves me correctly, was in the latter half of November 2024.
Oh so the documents were sent to you, but now you can't even be bothered to check them? Fuck off Tom.

So the PS5 Pro is or "was" supposedly coming out in a few months, yet to my knowledge we still don't have much, if any legitimate information or official announcement from Sony yet? Something just doesn't seem right with the Pro.

SONY has experience of pro consoles, we've seen sony alter the ps1, ps2, ps3 whether is be for dramatically different designs or resetting their image I think the console design of the PS5 Pro will be important.

We didn't get anything official on the PS4 Pro until Sept and launched in Nov and this will likely follow the same pattern

Makes no sense releasing it next year. Will look outdated as fuck when the 5090 and new AMD cards drop.
PC folks is not the target audience. It's purpose is to keep console gamers on console for the rest of the generation. Might work for some, it'll look good when Digital Foundry show the percentage increase in resolution and framerate for the price.

Can blame long lead time for game development that's why it seems unnecessary to get a Pro version.
I still would like it though.

I'd rather they go back to five year console cycles and give us completely new harder (hardware hehe) faster.

I think it's too late for the pro, but I'm sure the handful of people that buy it will be happy.
Timing is perfect

Too late would be releasing it trying to compete with the Switch 2, 5000 series GPUs and whatever monstrosity Xbox is thinking about cooking up.

Literally nothing to compete with this Holiday

not possible anymore with the prolonged development cycles and the amount of power you now need to get even marginal visual improvements. At least not at console price point.
Get a PC if you want that.

Seriously did he think about that before he wrote it? Documents sent to me that I can't be bothered to look up and verify the information while I sit here and do my job as a journalist .

We'd need to massively increase development times for that to happen.

A lot of games take more than 5 years to make. If we had 5 year console cycles then most developers would be lucky to put out a game on it before the next console comes around.

lot of credible chatter about its releasing this year. Lets stop singing the same song now. Don't really see enthusiasm for a pro version though. Can't imagine lot of people running out to buy this year

Have a PC (7600x/7900xt). Still would like more updates to hardware than the current timelines.

Cross generation will be the norm going forward. Even if the games take longer to make, scaling up to newer boxes is easier than scaling down. A PS5 target today allows for enhanced versions for PS5 Pro and PS6.

What good is hardware if the software is just not there?

meanwhile, a 7 year old console is still getting games....
Zelda developed by Grezzo (third-party studio) = first-party game
Helldivers developed by Arrowhead (third-party studio) = hmm, that's actually a second-party game

Biggest competition is base PS5 and tbh it won't hit great sale numbers. I expect it to underperform in comparison to PS4 Pro.
With new Xbox dropping '26 it would be a disaster to release PS5 Pro '25 and get outdated after a year. Specially considering that jump on PS5 Pro with 20-30%+ raster performance is on the low side.

I don't see a big value with better raytracing performance (we've already been told about RDNA 3 miracles that didn't happen). In the end, it is a device for enthusiasts who are not interested in the PC market or new customers who have the spare cash for upselling.

Next year Switch 2 feels much more appealing.

lol nobody is getting outdated by an xbox anymore. disaster would be for them to release a new console in 26 after their series collapse and thinking anyone will trust them for another gen.

one x, came one year from ps4pro, was outperforming it
and probably sold 100units or so in total.
