And I'm with you, my issue with the line was just how out of the place it was. It'd be like inserting a Harambe joke.
That line works so much in context of the scene, I don't know why they didn't think of that first.
I don't mind references in my dub, but I wish more script writers would think "is this something that could stand the test of the time &/or most of the audience would actually get?" Highschool of the Dead has a few awful internet meme references, like having someone just spout out "i like turtles". Granted, it's by the same dude who dubbed Ghost Stories, which went the Shin Chan route of "let's just make up a brand new script & make the humor mature"
eh... it only has great animation at times. a lot of times it is quite obvious they didn't have a big budget and saved that budget for key scenes.

Oh yeah, another important factor is "does this line/joke make sense/still work if someone doesn't know what the reference is?", which is why the original line was bad.

You get used to it. The subway's been a shitshow the last few months though, so it's been annoying. You should have hit me up, we could have grab lunch or something.
One of these days, maybe it'll finally get the rerun slot. I recall S2 was much better overall than S1, & I'd like to rewatch it to confirm if that's true.
Also, bummer, I go to GS an hour early to ensure I can be one of the first to get Crash & get the keychain which my best friend really wants, but turns out you had to pre-order before the 10th, which both of us didn't do. Ah well, least I can play an hour or two before work...

So I've started watching Level-E, kind of the forgotten series that Togashi made in between Yu Yu Hakusho and Hunter x Hunter. Best way I can describe it is the protagonist screws with people for the lawls.
I'm watching the dub on Funimation and Vic Mignogna got cast as Prince Baka, which almost feels like eerily perfect casting since the character almost sees like an exaggerated version of himself.

That Death Note trailer doesn't look as embarrassing as I thought it would.
