The heroine eating a bit of the hero to get a power boost reminds me of the Rosario + Vampire manga, though the other way around, with Moka biting Tsukune and sucking his blood giving him a power up. Come to think of it, in the R+V manga, the term they use for what Tsukune becomes after Moka bites him is "ghoul".

It's a lot easier to replenish blood than to HEAL a chuck of skin someone bit off you. Kinda puts a strain on things I assume.
