Anybody have a link to this? TL looks hot. I have been a fan since 1997 or so and still reckon that 1999-2004 was the golden age of the genre (and of course the golden age for progressive), like it even better than the earlier trance.

Yes. Hell yes.

I tend to get most of my trance via podcast in recent months. The podcasts from A&B, Markus Schulz, Tritonal, Gareth Emery, and Tiesto (...yes, Tiesto in 2012) tend to cover every permutation of the genre that I like. Those plus other K&A tunes have popped up recently, repeatedly, in multiple weeks, so they're quite favored.

Yeah Ive only recently came to the conclusion I like trance, in the right environment atleast. Slightly annoyed I turned down an offer to ASoT 5000 (the one in Europe back in the spring) as I thought it might be abit much for a guy new to the genre.

What sort of stuff is there like A&B or should I just check out anjuna deep?

Which songs of A&B do you like? Their style has been going all over the place. I HIGHLY recommend everyone also check out Oceanlab, if they haven't. Basically A&B with a vocalist, dammit I forgot her name. Way too many classics from them. On A Good Day, Satellite, Lonely Girl, etc etc

I get the two mixed up for some reason. Well I have Group Therapy and like well a good 75% of the songs (alchemy,sun and moon,thing called love etc)

On a good day is actually an awesome song. They closed their Global gathering 2012 set with it.

All good, I didn't even really know the different. Still don't really, except that Deep is more techy, and Beats is trance. I'm sure you would like their previous album then, Tri-State.

FYI, they close practically every set with On A Good Day haha. It's actually a mashup with Gareth Emery's Metropolis that they (and everyone else) play. Mashed by the masters Myon and Shane 54.

I honestly cant think of someone with A&B's style right now. At least on their album, they had a very...soundtrack feel. Like a score for a movie or something.

Ah a decent thread. I have to say I hate A&B's new stuff, group therapy is so bad it makes me cringe. I think it's mainly Richard Bedford's doing, can't stand the vocal tracks and the others are mediocre at best.

Gareth Emery is at the top of my trance list, I still listen to Northern Lights pretty much every time I drive anywhere that album is soo damn good. Buy it if you haven't already.

I cant really get into Gareth Emery, I had one of his albums from about 2009 I think? Sometime around then but yeah dont know why. Girl that invited me to ASOT showed me Concrete Angel is it? I thought she was talking about Archangel by Burial so yeah that a was confusing five mins!
I do think I like A&B because its pretty much the polar opposite of the usual edm im into (youtube Coki-Mid June Madness for an idea if yer feeling bold!)

Will work my way back through the thread anyway as I need some new mixes to listen too!

Yeah I don't mind a bit of cheesy stuff every now and again. I usually like to chill out when I listen to music though so prefer stuff that's not so 'in your face'. Saga is terrible, I can't blame trance artists for trying to get into the electro style market it's where all the money seems to be, I just hope they still keep making the stuff that got them noticed in the first place.

You might have had 'The sound of Garuda'? Northern Lights was his first artist album, came out Sep 2010. I really would recommend giving it a go if that wasn't the one you had. Sanctuary was a pretty big hit from that album, quality isn't great on that but it will give you an idea.

I haven't really been listening to much lately, haven't had enough time. Got a big pile of International Departures podcasts that I keep meaning to listen, soon! Do love a bit of Myon and Shane 54. ID Vol.2 was pretty good and has so many tracks on it for the price.

Man, their ID Volume 2 was amazing. I had never heard their compilations before that, and then I heard their nonstop mashups and amazing mixing. Holy shit. It's as if every song was brand new to me because I had never heard most of the mashups before. Incredible

I agree with you 100%.
Tri-State and Sirens of the Sea are two of my favourite albums of all time. They are absurdly good.
But i just couldnt enjoy Group Therapy, however much i tried. Recent A&B just doesnt click with me, thats everything from their studio output to their live shows.

I still remember the day i went out and bought this album and the first time i played it. Very weird, as i dont remember that for so many albums, but i adore this album.



Anyway. I went on about it in my last posts, but i spent all day today with 'Solaris International' episodes in the background. Honestly, now my favourite podcast, bar none, not just musically. Always an amazing mix of progressive and uplifting stuff, and Rich himself is ace.

Guys I dont know what to do! Should I include Above & Beyond - On My Way To Heaven (Seven Lions Remix) on my new mix? I love the song, but it makes the mix kinda messy, and it doesn't fit with my trance sound at all......so conflicted

At 2:28, when that melody in the back starts coming in. Then specifically at around 2:43, with the synths. Song is amazing. I know he is going to play this at his show next week and I'm going to lose my voice singing it.

I haven't listened to much trance in a while but I have to say that

The Thrillseekers - Nightmusic (volumes 1-3) are all great. Especially volume 1. I bought it in 2008 and have had both cds in my car 6 cd rotation since.

Really enjoy a lot of the tracks you guys are posting.

Going to pick up a car in Virginia and drive it back to Oklahoma with some mountain driving next weekend and I will be rocking Thrillseekers and some of your recs to melt away the 1300 miles.

Recently I've been listening to some old livesets, and I still think Paul van Dyk live @ Cream Amnesia Ibiza 2002 is still one of the best livesets ever. So many beautiful tunes and so much energy.
