I have had the Apple TV since launch, It is one of the few streaming services I have.

Severance, Ted Lasso, Shrinking (Ted Lasso and Shrinking are Bill Lawerence ie Scrubs)

Silo, Slow Horses (Best Show), Disclaimer, Tetris, See (poor man’s GoT, 1st season is worst).

Honestly, they have more than any other platform of “Watchable tv”. It reminds me of NBC in the 1990’s. Not offensive and it is “fine”. Apple TV is missing its champion tv show to bring it more attention. Apple TV is lacking a Sopranos, Breaking Bad, Yellowstone, Friends, Frasier, Seinfeld, GoT. Apple has not found that yet.

I'd add Black Bird and Tehran to that list.

Black Bird has an absolutely terrific performance by Paul Walter Hauser as a serial killer that landed him a Critic's Choice, Golden Globe and Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actor. This show could have been a spinoff of David Fincher's terrific Mindhunter tv series.

Tehran has a unique setting: a spy show about an Israeli female spy who gets trapped in Iran after a failed mission. The show was filmed in Greece but it feels authentic because the Iranian characters are played by Iranian actors. Season 2 had Glenn Close, season 3 will have Hugh Laurie in a main role.

Damn Black Bird sounds super interesting. Thanks for posting about it!

So I just watched Black Bird because it was mentioned here and the trailer looked interesting enough.

Well, it's a pretty decent show for 5 of the 6 episodes. I was gonna say solid 7/10, maybe even 8. Then the final episode happened... and now I wanna say it's like a 4 or something. It's comical how stupid some of it is.

Let's start with the credits. Jimmys story ends with him somehow going from convict to being a "successful businessman" and helping the FBI in catching serial killers???? because of his profound experience? I know this sounds like a nitpick, but it's connecting to a larger point.

In the final episode he suddenly cares SO MUCH about the dead girls and their families. And when he's being put into solitary he goes INSTANTLY INSANE for some reason? Like it's depicted as this hellhole, when in reality, he's in fucking safety there from being shacked by the italians or the mexicans with the face tattoos.

Yeah yeah, he's worried he'll forget the map and that pressure drives him to insanity, sure. It's totally not drummed up for drama so we can see our fuckboy hero being all vulnerable and selfless.

And obviously Larry is just there in his woodworking shop (completely unsupervised all the time btw, with knives and shit. No worries) drawing a map of where he buried the girls? ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?

And also, yeah, psychiatrist is on vacation lmao. ON VACATION.

They had the chance to go somewhere with this story. Like Jimmy is clearly criminal scum. He was with Larry for one reason: To get himself out of there. And I guess you could've shoehorned in some storyline in there about why he suddenly would personally give a rat's ass about the girls, but no. From one episode to the next he simply does and you're supposed to accept it.

The show feels like a cheap attempt to pander to true crime obsessed nutty women, and thus our sexy protagonist had to get a good ending (and a lot of shots of his muscles). This was somewhat obvious from episode 1 onwards, but the finale episode just turned it to a 100. I cringed so hard at the scenes in the last episode where the judge was all "at first you reeked of entitlement. But now you're such a great guy and such a hero!" and the stewardess goes like "awww you're such a bad boy". WHO WRITES THIS SHIT. It's even funnier when juxtaposing it against the judge who rules on Larry and says something like (and this is almost verbatim) "Go back to the place you belong to!!".

I'm honestly kind of in shock about how bad all of that was. If you haven't seen the show, I implore you to go ahead and read my spoiler anyway, because I might've just saved you some time. It's not like the story is going anywhere were you wouldn't expect it to go. Allthough actually, it's so bland I didn't think they'd play it like that because it feels like a 90s soap opera or something. Or, to give another comparison: It's like if in Harry Potter the final scene would be about Snape launching a nuke at hogwarts and having Harry Potter shirtless fending it off with his bare hands.... and then he became a successful businessman! That, at least, you wouldn't see coming I guess.

inb4 "based on a true story, that's just how things happened", lmao sure

I’ve been trying to watch The Night Agent. I never finished season 1 I only saw a few episodes back when it first came out and I can’t get over that one Asian character Diane Farr has fully grey hair when she looks like she’s 35. It looks absolutely ridiculous. I mean the show is a mindless cliched thriller, so that’s dumb in and of itself, but it’s relatively entertaining though it’s nothing special. But every time I see that character it takes me out of the show.

I didn't turn over and so I have "The curse of oak island" on, it's series 12, episode 7 and they still haven't found shit. Why does this exist as a show for so long (Along with the other "Curse" location shows)?

Nothing is ever found and if it was the news would cover it first and it would have a proper documentary made so what is the point in airing this stuff?

I'm not familiar with this series but that gave me a good laugh 😄
Same with all those ghost shows with a gazillion episodes.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.

The real treasure is the friends you make along the way... I mean, um... the Discovery Channel contract that pays you to be a Z-list TV celebrity / reality star for 12+ years.

See also: "The mystery at blind frog ranch". Season 1 was SOLID and spooky, everything since then has been an absolute waste of time.

Or finding Bigfoot, proof of either would be worldwide news not a show at 1pm Thursday on channel 342.

jshackles jshackles I was thinking of Skinwalker ranch so it seems there are even more of these shows. I guess they cost nothing to make because they can’t have many viewers when nothing ever happens.

I finally watched Conan O'Brien Must Go.

It's pretty much exactly what you'd expect, and if you enjoyed his other travels to Japan, Korea or Italy or so, you'll probably enjoy this too. It's a really cute show and I had quite a few moments where I actually laughed out loud, which is not something too many shows accomplish.

9/10. What can I say, I love Conan.

Also, while we're at it, I recently started watching Philomena Cunk. I've seen a couple of clips of hers over the past years and she's recently been on Colbert's Late Show and on Seth Meyers' Late Night, so I've finally started watching. The first series is about Britain's history and the show is very clearly made for a very british audience (duh). They expect you to know quite a few things about both british history as well as contemporary british pop culture, otherwise quite a few jokes will go over your head. So this is actually one of the few shows I've watched where my lack of education is holding me back.

Show didn't really click for me though and I don't think it would've, even if I'd be a bit less unknowledgable. The interviews are clearly the highlight of the show, and by watching the clips you'd assume the program would be a lot of interviews, but nah. It felt like maybe 20% or so were interviews. The other 80% are kinda hit or miss with her shtick getting repetitive kinda quick. It's still a decent show and I'll probably continue watching at some point, but I'm not exactly drawn to it.

I have been watching some Halo. It's surprisingly good. I am saddened by the fan reaction to this show. I was negatively predisposed to Schreiber and the "taking off the helmet" thing due to what I read about the show beforehand, but they won me over. I am at the beginning of episode 6 of the first season.
(I only finished the first game and never got far into the others, maybe that helped.)

Currently watching season 1 episode 4 of REACHER.
He's more intelligent & perceptive than Sherlock Holmes on top of being a walking indestructible tank.
Basically God mode, sorta boring you know?

Anyway just sayin'.

Black Books. My favourite of Graham Linehan's shows. Love the trio of Bernard, Manny, and Fran. The Grapes of Wroth episode is amazing.

Apple Cider Vinegar on Netflix.

"The life of wellness guru Belle Gibson, who had a large social media following, where she pretended to be suffering from cancer but keeping the disease under control using self-care therapies. She confessed that none of it was true."

It's a hard watch but highly recommended.

Will watch that also.

Oh and Kaitlyn Dever is just so cute ugh.

Started Blacklist. James spider has a great way of speaking. Damn I wish I had his voice.
Oh man. I loved this show for a few seasons. Then I got really suspicious of who he was and decided to go check online.

It's fucking ridiculous, I stopped watching after that. It just makes no fucking sense.

Hopefully you don't mind and enjoy the experience.

Finished rewatching season two of The Wire (decades long gap) and enjoyed it better than season one. Season one is off the hook, don't get me wrong. The Frank Sobotka character as the dock union boss. That actor knocked it out of the park.

Gilmore Girls.
The wife started a rerun watch. I missed a few episodes but watched a few them got invested in the show. We're on the last season now (season 7). The show definitely has worn out it's welcome. Season 6 was a slog and almost made me retroactively hate the whole series.

Just watched an episode of the X Files I forgot about season 7 episofe 12.
Mulder and Scully are featured on the show COPS where they are hunting a creature causing chaos in a neighborhood.

Written by Vince Gilligan who cut his teeth on that show before Breaking Bad.

Was a funny and original episode.

I watched the first 3 episodes of The Pitt yesterday. Basically it's ER meets 24. I hate ER (never watched a single episode) but I dismissed it as television for housewives who like George Clooney. There's nothing inherently wrong with that, I'm just not the target audience for this. And this was initially planned as a direct spin off to ER, they just had some legal issues and so they came up with this instead.

It's... surprisingly good? Like 9/10 good. If you'd give me a run down of the arche types of the characters I'd probably say I'd hate that, but I think the writers are surprisngly competent in setting this whole shit up and pulling it off. It actually makes for very compelling television.

Also, show has been renewed for S2 last week or so.

Yellowjackets season 3

What's even the point of this anymore? All the tension has dissipated, characters just do stupid insane shit and then they're fine again and the only mystery left is some dark presence that I'm sure will be dumb too. Season 1 was decent but this is just slop now.

The only reason I'm still watching is because it's something easy to watch when I'm bored and I still turned off the second episode half way through because of how uninterested I was

I talked about it here too. It's excellent. It's on episode 7 already. For those who don't know, each episode is one hour of the day in the emergency unit.

Just finished season 2 of Peaky Blinders

I don't know man. It tries to be authentic but I don't think it's all that convincing. I just don't believe this all takes place in the early 1900's, it all looks way to modern for that.

Oh, and I absolutely hate Polly Gray

I'm probably not going to continue this one

Parody of actual AJUMP23
Exactly why I stopped watching after episode 2. Useless subplots.

Well I think they have 3 plots going on with intersecting characters. All the plots have something to do with Billy bob Thorton, he is the large thread. The rest all intersect with him or involve him. Those women are just terrible though.

I don't hate it, but I completely lost interest after the first season. Watched some of S2 and just dropped it. I see so many people praising it but... 🤷‍♂️

is waiting for Starfield 7
I'm going all the way back and watching X Files for the first time.

This show is even older than me!!

After that I'm gonna start with The Wire and Boardwalk Empire.

The latest episode of Severance might just be the best episode yet. There was not a single filler scene, I felt like I was glued into my seat.
