Ubisoft SF and Ubisoft Osaka both closed. Sydney team ramping down
- Up to 177 people to be laid off
- Half of XDefiant team moving to other projects.
- Ubisoft had hoped game would compete with Call of Duty but recently was denying shutdown rumors amid declining playing numbers

Only call of duty competes with call of duty.
How do you wake up one day and go yes, time to create that COD killer! 😎
They had to genuinely believe they had a shot at this, otherwise one wouldn't even try.

They are starting to gradually reduce "expenses", at the expense of less expensive "assets".
Honestly, no one will notice the disappearance of this studio, considering the games they worked on.

have a feeling tencent is going to gobble up ubisoft in the near future.

Your right, they should all pack it up!

Honestly, it will never happen if no one tries. Every king gets dethroned eventually. Your delusional to think otherwise.

No one should hope for a publishers collapse no matter how bad you think they're. I'm not a ubisoft fan at all but the gaming industry is better with them being apart of it and the same goes for a publisher like EA too.

"Hoped the game would compete with COD", they really have lost the plot and i'm not even a COD fan anymore, never heard of those studios like i have Montreal and Quebec but i'm not surprised with all the stupid decision's Ubisoft have made in recent years, might not be the last either.

How are these execs possibly this delusional and out of touch with their own industry?

hahaha, sure thing buddy
COD has been around for 21 years, where it really took off in that COD 4 to Black Ops 1 era.

The bodycount COD has unleashed on other shooters would give the corpse wall in the movie 300 a run for its money.

Even when there's other shooters that kick ass too like Counterstrike, or more recently Fortnite, COD is still there.

I think the only way COD gets punted is if they do it to themselves somehow. But just like FIFA, as long as they churn out another familiar game, the loyal fanbase will be there.

no.. i am ok with them going down. I want to Yves or whatever that frienchi name is flipping burgers

Ubisoft Osaka? they exist??

then what the heck they are doing there all these times considered how mess ac shadow are? sleeping at maid cafe?

Skimming google, UBI Osaka does these games. Not a lot.

As for firing these studios now, it looks bad as the holidays coming up. Also, UBI's fiscal year isnt even a calendar year where they'd be hurrying up to do stuff before year end. Their fiscal year ends in March.

Imagine having an Ubi-Osaka, and putting out Ass Creed: Shadows? LMFAO!

Edit: I just saw a post from StreetsofBeige StreetsofBeige
That's a travesty... putting them to work on those titles...

Closing a Japanese branch just before AC: Shadows release?!?! ooffff

So they actually have Japanese resources and yet they consult Western liberals/feminists to make their AC Japanese game?? :messenger_tears_of_joy: :messenger_tears_of_joy: :messenger_tears_of_joy:

They must make games with the Ubiart engine. Those were good games...

Or splinter cell...

Stop making assassins creed.

If that link I posted from IGN is accurate, UBI has the Osaka studio working on.... Rocksmith out of all games as their most recent work.

This is actually a great question. It would seem all these devs want to make a game that competes with COD, but they keep making games that are different from COD.

Here's an idea, make a fucking game that looks, feels, and plays like COD, but market it with huge headlines that speak directly to current COD players.

No SBMM. No flashlights on snipers. Explosives do actual damage. Game engine isn't from 2004. Launches with 20 maps that aren't built around ruining the experience. Actual anti-cheat software.

Don't make it free, charge for it to show value, but charge less then normal. 49.99

I guarantee it sells well. I have been just aching to leave COD forever, but every "clone" turns out to be a wal-mart reject.

That Avatar game last winter flopped despite being tied to one of the most successful movie series of all time.

Skull and Bones flopped despite being the first AAAA game

Prince of Persia the lost crown did so bad it got the whole team broken up.

XDefiant was a live service COD killer that lasted less than a year.

Star Wars Outlaws flopped despite being an open world stars wars which people have wanted for 40 fucking years.

Assassins Creed Shadows currently at a farm up north with the dog I had as a kid. May not come back.

What an absolute shit show over there. How does anyone in leadership still have a job?
