Virtua Fighter 6 in-game footage (brief)

On the official Virtua Fighter Youtube channel this is listed as a "pre-development concept video", so calling this in-game would be a bit of a stretch. There is no game yet.

Since it's a concept video - so not sure how it will play out in real life - but I do love animation blocking and how the body moves as if it's some sort of Kung Fu movie.

Hope that carries over to the final product.

It really does seem like an internal goal of theirs - to fully mimic the look and flow of 80's martial arts movies. This is the second tech demo that emphasizes blocking animations and a very free form style of action. We'll see how it plays out but their intention is clear. Same with destructible objects in stages posing as some sort of strategic stage hazards.

I'm glad that the background stage has some "life" to it at least, for many decades, they went for the most part static backgrounds....

If gameplay can mimic some of the nuances of the contact between combatants in the clip that would impress me more than super high quality assets and lighting; it seems like a tall order though with how one would leverage animation cancels, interrupts, crouch dashing/cancelling, juggles and such and still look realistic.

Look at the feet, first time ever, they don't float in the ground, finally...i always hate when fighters hover above the ground...Look at you my beloved Tekken

Yikes, they copied the whole sequence?
Yes, it's a concept footage...
They've shown a real early gameplay sequence at the VGA and will try to reach dat dynamic animation for the final game.

Key words were more dramatic combats.

Ugghh, outside of Jean, VF5 had such janky animations that it was just hard to not notice. I hope they are as fluid or better than Tekken because that franchise has lost its way for fantasy rather than represent real martial arts like it used to some extent. The fuck is wrong with Harada and Michael.
