Oh, but they try. Between oversized trucks and monster soccer mom SUVs, I'm glad I drive a compact because I'm often the only one that can fit between these brutes in my works parking garage. I wanna go even smaller with a miata but then I couldn't even see over the TIRES of these beasts, much less aorund them in traffic. Might even be able to see UNDER a few jacked-up trucks.And virtually zero downtowners who work at snazzy offices and live in nearby glass condos with cramped parking spots will be driving a pick up either. Those big ones wouldnt even fit in their parking spot.
Every now and then I see a classic car like a 60's mustang and WOW, those things were small. Not sure if bigger cars was a response to fatter americans or a technological thing to fit more shit into the cockpit. Be interesting to see if EVs with all-in-one touch screens will lead to smaller vehicles again once they can evolve independently of ICE designs. Like that box shaped robotaxi that has rear facing front seats.
